Aside from the ‘censor’ with how built up that was, it would have always been judge like when Sunset reunited with Celestial in Forgotten Friendships. Still LOVED that moment, but kept thinking I’ve seen it told better. Since this was just telling us how they meet, I didn’t care! ♥️
I know that this episode never mentions death, but I love how they do hint at it. Characters tearing up, Burnt Oak being reluctant to make contact with the Apple family as a friend of their parents, Big Mac clearly wanting that connection to them...it does feel a lot like the interactions between groups of people who are being forced to talk about someone they lost, and who haven't quite moved on. On a side note, I do wish that we had an episode where a character passed away, whether a main character or a side character. I agree that death can be a hard topic to talk about with kids. We want to protect them, and so we do our best to shield them. But that often means that a kid's first experience with death is when they lose someone they love, whether it be a pet, an elderly family member or even someone relatively young. Or just as bad: as a murder or a revenge killing in an animated movie. It's hard having a talk about death when a kid is already grieving. I do wish there were more episodes in kids TV shows that look at death as a quiet event that's part of life. That's why I love the tribute episode to Mr Hooper from Sesame St. They don't shy away from his passing. They talk about how he won't return, they talk about how it's okay to mourn him and have anxiety over how things will change, and they talk about how you can get support from the ones you love. Not every show can cover the topic of death and do it well, but I think MLP could have.

Especially since the member of the brony-community that introduced me to you is slipping farther and farther into anger, cynicism and a realization that she makes a better psychiatrist than a pop-culture critic. I wouldn't have minded when this episode review took place, it's just like the episode itself: took a while to be made, but so worth it once it was done. You've earned every single one of those subscribers, and here's hoping that many more follow suit in the future. In retrospect, I love the fact I didn't recognize Shatner's role at first - its subtlety works much better in this case than if it was like Weird Al's "normal voice" role - but once again the MLP crew know how to get the most out of their celebrity cameos in the show [haven't seen the movie to know how that worked]. .

I like how the story not only borrows from Romeo & Juliet (in fact, Geeky Steven made a video with his girlfriend explaining why that comparison doesn't exactly hold much water when you look at it much deeper), but the the story structure is just like Citizen Kane, since it was implied that Bright Macintosh and Pear Butter are dead, and the story of their romance is being told through flashbacks by people they knew personally. Also, congrats on reaching 8,000 subscribers!

The difference that Romeo and Juliet have from The Perfect Pear is that they didn't commit suicide and actually grew as a couple without giving a stroke or wanting to strangle them for making a stupid mistake that could've been avoided if they did what The Perfect Pear did.

Ignore the “neigh” sayers, this episode is amazing. It’s touching. I like the interesting angles with the storytellers. I like the cheesy song. And it’s overall romantic style works because it’s in hindsight. Of course it’s through rose colored glasses.
A bit off topic, I know...but looking back on when I went to see A Star is Born two days ago. I can't help but feel that Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's characters from the movie reminded me so much of Pear Butter and Bright Mac. Why...because both couples are so adorable together and they strengthen each other so well
I kinda don't want a backstory for Discord, he's an enigma, a being of Chaos and nonsense, it's almost more fun to let the fans speculate and have his past be potentially multiple choice, much like Joker because they're both completely insane and seem to operate on a logic that only hey understand.
I only have one complaint- why wasn't Takara in this review? Lol. Okay that's not really a complaint, but it would have been perfect though (no pun intended). Yeah this episode was my fav of the season and definitely up there in the series.

Perfect episode my ass. Just by saying that you are degrading it because you are lying. Yes it is a very good episode even for me and top 3 material of this season for sure and maybe even top 5 material of all episodes for a lot of people but it is NOT PERFECT. By this point i know why ppl say that it's the perfect episode. The title. It's unconscious conditioning and you and a ton of other ppl fell for it to see it that way. I could go on and nitpick exactly what i have to say about the episode but i really don't want to spoil the fun for ppl. Figure it out yourselves if you truly care about honesty. All this said don't think that i am hating on the episode. I loved it despite it's few little problems it had. Hints: missing parents, the tree and family honesty. I don't know why you did this finn but i thought you are on the side of honesty. Calling anything perfect when they are not does not reflect that.
Well, mostly I just called it that as a joke for the intro. X) I was hoping the way I framed it would have made it seem that way, but I guess not. If it was perfect, I would have no critiques for it (like saying that the parents could have been fleshed out more) and it would have gotten a perfect 100,000 score at the end, which it didn't. Probably should have made myself more clear. ^^ Sorry.
I thought the episode was fine but I mean it was really not that good, they just showed a bunch of clips of the parents falling in love. It was just your average love story, and the bit at the end was nice showing the grandfathers remorse. But it wasn't that good, it was cute, and nice but boring, and no, the songs didn;t make up for it. I don't like songs in tv shows.

As a parent suffering from parental alienation this particular episode hit me super deep and I loved it. It gave me hope for reunification one day.
