    The interview with Fred Weis is not about the dunk, it's about him taking the decision to end his career due to a knee injury. And when he says "I will never forget what I have experienced in 2000", it is about wearing a silver medal at the Olympics.
    This is to me the sickest dunk of all times though

    I've always felt bad for Weis...cause there's no way he could've suspected that VC even had the thought of dunking. For any other pay you could think of, Weis was probably in perfect position. Who knew?
    Peeps talk about how high Vince jumped on this one, but they rarely talk about how FAR he jumped from, which was about 7 feet. That's what makes this dunk so absurd, and why poor Weis is taken so completely by surprise. By the time he figured out what was going on, it was too late. The fact that Vince didn't know he'd absolutely bodied ole Fred suggests that even he didn't think that result was possible.

      1942 Agreed, it's called defense, it's why Brandon Knight gets dunked on so much for instance. He isn't afraid of it, a PG with a Center mentality so to speak. Still the Knicks... managment... leaves ALOT to be desired. Hopefully they get their shit together this season. Not asking for a deep playoff run just a return to them period. East needs more competition.

    the extracts of Fred Weis talking are completely out of context. When he talks about 2000, he talks about his silver medal with France in Sidney, and his best season in french basketball league. He never talks about this dunk. And about his hard feelings, it was about him retiring and saying it to his GM. That's why people don't like journalists. They pick up words from someone, without explaining the context, so that mean something else. That dunk is incredible, but it ever ruined Fred Weis' 17 year-career.

    The single greatest in game Dunk in basketball history by 100 miles never to be eclipsed. Fitting it was executed by a player from the best league in the world and from the county who invented the game on the world stage. This Dunk was perpetrated by a hall of famer who is without question the best Dunker the NBA has ever seen. This was a defining moment not in just Vince's career but for for Olympic basketball as a whole as it illustrated just how magical Olympic basketball moments could be if the best players in the world are competing. While the dream team taking the court was memorable and there have been other note worthy moments in international play - there is nothing that compares to this soul stealing dunk!!

    What makes this the greatest dunk of all time in basketball history is that it is not PRACTICED at game time,unlike for the slam dunk And yes he should be cosidered the best DUNKER in basketballs history.

    Vince saw Weis and wanted to dunk on him. He thought Weis would jump so he jumped extra high to dunk on him. But Weis didn't jump. The rest is history. I did something similar in a pick up game one time. Except I don't have a vertical like Vince. So I flipped over the guy. They were talking about that for months like if I had dunked on him.

    • @dingoleh
      @dingoleh 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jay Kay
      No I didn't dunk. Although back then I could dunk. But while I was flipping over the defender I threw the ball up and made the shot. The fella was about 6' and I'm 5'3". So I was pretty high up when I did it. And before anyone says I'm lying about being able to dunk let me set the record straight. I could only do a regular one handed dunk and it would take everything I had to do it. I couldn't do any between the leg, 360's, double pump or anything like that. Just a regular one handed dunk from right under the basket. But I did have crazy hops though.

    • @dingoleh
      @dingoleh 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      And as for it being a foul. In the playgrounds or the park it's anything goes. One person will say foul the other would call it a charge and then we argue for about 5 minutes over it. So we would always try to not call fouls unless it was really blatant.

      i jumped over a kid once from the elbow off a alley from my friend from half court, didnt dunk it because my shorts cuaght his head and i hit the top off the rim i would have thrown on him with two hands. i wish it would have been epic enough to compete with this, i'm only 6'-1".

    People have done this..... But not in a game. Vince did it in game to a 7 footer. I assume he's in the restricted or like guy said the refs had never seen that so had no clue how to officiate it at that moment. Cool thing about sports is it doesn't matter if you are/speak English or French. You can tell both sets of com mentors are amazed and amped by the dunk. That guy Weis got dunked on the worst ever, on an international stage. Simply amazing to even attempt much less pull off so gracefully.

    Yeah, they say MJ, Wilkins, Kemp, Griffin, Green, Jrich, Lavine is better. These guys are great but they only have 1 dunk forte but VC has the complete elements of dunking. Vince Carter (6'6) is the NBA's Greatest of all time Dunker
    *MJ (6'6) was just better at driving and a cutter cause he was faster and the better player but when we talkin' about dunking skills, VC is a lot better. VC was more aggressive and powerful tearin the rim. To make it short, MJ's best dunks were VC's practice/warmup dunks
    *Wilkins (6'8), Kemp (6'10), or Griffin(6'10)? These guys just prove they're more powerful but they can't fly, execute dunks like VC plus they're bigger. These guys are better at poster and contact dunks obviously cause they're one of the big guys in the NBA.
    *Gerald Green (6'8)? these dunker got hops but that's all he got. His vertical leap is impressive not his dunks. There are a lot of elements of dunking this guys lacks such as extension, creativity and etc.
    *Jason Richardson (6'6)? He was just a creative and has good timing, if you look closely on his dunks, he really has impressive timings cause he has no hangtime and can't fly as high as VC and MJ plus he is a weak one legged leaper.
    *Zach Lavine (6'5)? Lavine is just a better one legged leaper not dunker that's why his dunks almost look alike, seen him dunk with 2 legs, ain't impressive. His dunk execution lacks elements of dunking. He lacks a lot of power, explosiveness, extension body control and etc.

    Fred Weis was traumatized by this because he's from France and him being 7'2", stuff like that just dont happen in France. He just couldnt believe it happened and there was no foul, no whistle, he was straight up cleared by Vince and it was all legal. The magnitude of this dunk was just crazy and as hype as Vince was after the dunk, they should have called the game after that. It was clearly enough and made France relize that America was the better team. Best posterized moment ever!
