    Topdeck : I buildet the Titanic in past 39 years more than 6 Times.And the problem child was always the Topdeck.So i see the trumpeter Titanic has the same problem too.Well most of the time it depends how the other decks are clued,because there ain"t not much space inbetween the decks.Its also a problem when it comes to the riggings of the funnels.However.
    It is a great modell and it is part of the modell hobby that some things cause some problems.Good luck and Stay save ✌😎✌

    I had the exact same issue fitting my boat deck. It would not line up right port just aft of funnel 1. I sanded and even cut through the roof of the inner promenade structure piece. It took it down some, but not fully

    Even Peter Davies-Garner made mistakes on his 1:48 scale Orlando model. I noticed he didn't follow the details of the CADD plans he made. His plans were consistent with other plans I've seen including Harland & Wolff's, which is why I'm baffled he made changes on the final model.

    The yellow line I bought some very fine yellow masking tape it works perfect and to scale with the ship also if you paint the masking tape brown on some flat plastic then peel off it will go round the lifeboats tops I also used plastic card folded with painter cream masking tape for on top for the covers

    Hello Jake! Nice work! The Olympic-class liners TRULY were beautiful! Such graceful lines and harmonious structure! Wish i had actually been around to see them! One question: what color did you use for your decks? It looks great! Keep up the nice work!
    And a small point of correction: Like so many other modellers you ended the white paint at the bottom edge of the well deck cutouts. This is wrong. Examine photos of the real ship, such as the cover photo of E.E. O'Donnell's "Last Days of The Titanic", and you see there was actually a thin sliver of white running below the bottom edge of the well deck cutouts. You can also see this in any of Ken Marschall's Titanic paintings. Hope this helps!

      Hi thank for the comment, the spray I used was Tamiya wooden deck tan TS-68, as a base it's good then add other colours later on to really.show the effect

    • @GRAYR189
      @GRAYR189 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thehobbymodelmaniac73 I'll have to remember that, thanks! And as a side note, Titanic's decks were yellow pine except for the area under the windlasses forward of the No. 1 hatch on the forecastle. That area was slightly darker teak wood.

    Make sure when you do the yellow line, that it remains a very thin line. Often we see models where the yellow line is just waaaay too thick and doesnt look to scale.

    I've. Built over a dozen models of Titanic, and the top deck of all of them were a bitch to deal with.

    • @J.A.Hansen
      @J.A.Hansen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats true 1000%
      I did the same and it is like you said.
      Maybe all of the companys doin the same mistake by creating a new version of the Titanic from old masterplan of other companys without changin.
      It's the same with the bridge.
      It's the same with funnels.
      I also believe it would be a nice idea to have wires for the riggings ready to go.So you click one in side into the funnel and the other one in the deck.
      This could be also done on historic planes from WW1
      However.

    Coming along nicely. Regards the overspray, a bit of t-cut and light rubbing with a polishing cloth will probably take that off for you, without damaging the underlying paintwork.

    Looking good. I’ve got a question if you have time. I received mine but the hull is quite wavy and bowed in at the top. Is that normal, should it go back, will that stop the white superstructure from sitting on the hull properly. As you’ve assembled much of yours I thought I’d ask. Thanks

    Just a random question.
    I've always enjoyed learning about the Olympic class ships
    I've read alot and looked at alot of photos.
    What is inside the fantail? I've never seen any pics of that.
    What is inside the white part of the bow ( with the port holes)?
    Thanks

    • @Titan52berg
      @Titan52berg 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Below the deck of the 'fantail' were the third-class common rooms and some of the female third-class cabins. The bow contained some of the male third-class passenger cabins, some crew quarters, cargo holds, mail sorting rooms, and access to the Number 1 hatch. There were various machanical apparatus for operation of winches, machinery for the anchors and chains, as well as the bow crane.

    okay first of all there not chimneys there funnels, as far as the model is concerned for an amateur model builder I think your doing an okay job, if you were an expert model builder then my comments would be a whole lot different I do think you should have drilled out the port hole's for better lighting but again that procedure takes a long time to perform, my advise in the future if your going to spend a lot of money on a model like this because the 1/200 series models are not cheap I would brush up on my skills first by maybe building some smaller models to get the practice before tackling a bigger job like this it would save you a lot of money in the long run, I've been doing model's for over 45 years and believe me it takes a lot of practice and a lot of patience, but I started on smaller ones in the beginning and that helped me get the experience that I needed first before tackling the bigger ones that I do, but like I said all in all your doing an okay job just keep up the work and you'll get it looking good.
