Trials of Osiris has felt in a pretty good spot since the Checkmate changes, but Bungie has seemed to have undone most of that good work with unnecessary special ammo changes. I'm hoping the research they gather from these changes stops them from doing anything like this again, as it's not fun to have so much special ammo constantly. Enjoy!

Crazy that we went from one of the best special ammo economies we’ve seen, back to Y3 D1 in the span of a week. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I feel like they could’ve AT LEAST made this change for party modes like momentum or rift only. It would make more sense imo
It's for two weeks to look at feedback from a wider audience than labs. I highly doubt they will continue with it at all with the response it's got.
@@BombStars They sort of did that already, just in different playlists. And those playlists play wildly different to 3v3 round based modes. Whilst this change plays bad in 3v3 and 6v6, not all changes do and some will play better in one, so both options need to be explored. It also wasn't reaching the larger player base in that state. By doing a two week long experiment like this they actually gather feedback. They weren't getting this sort of feedback earlier this season.

Glad they’re trying things. Seemed to me like they had all these ideas prepped ahead of time and they just wanted to give us all of them and get feedback. Sounds like the feedback to them about this new system is pretty universally negative which is good imo.

Last few weeks of checkmate I’ve been at a 2.5 kd, this week I’m sitting at a 1.3 since everyone is running around with 5000 kills worth of special
The new Special Ammo Transmat change was great! I have no clue why they would immediately change things.
Because it killed all specials except shotty.

Great finally able to be light level enough to play trials for the first time and this is what I have to deal with this week should be interesting
It's a two week test to get feedback on it. I highly doubt they will continue experimenting with it after the feedback they've got. It's probably a good thing they've done this, because they weren't getting the wider playerbases opinions with it kept to labs.

They could have at least put special in the middle of the map only and not make it a straight grab to the right or left when your on, it’s the exact same as just spawning on with special ammo
Skipping this week, poor change.
So far 3 flawless in. Special ammo is literally making the game slow paced atm.

The meter is a slippery slope and can create a snowball effect if the team gets special ammo before you. It’s hard to stop special without special, it is possible yes but very hard, plus special acts as a way to lower the skill gap and make games interesting for more skilled players otherwise people who have great aim never die and people who are decent at the game never win. That is a dangerous thing and I think would probably kill PvP as a whole. If everyone keeps whining we may wind up back in y1 with double primary and no special
I think combining both would be the best case scenario, ammo spawns in at the beginning right, but kills reward progress toward the meter like it was before, and then the more-skilled still get rewarded but the less skilled still have a chance to win and it has a lower chance of creating the snowball affect and ruin games for people. Trials is supposed to be competitive and fun but everyone complained that it was just sweats then they added solo que and now way more people try it out, and yes special ammo acts as a way for them to win against some better opponents but better have them in the game than not at all imo this is about the longevity of destiny
Next weekend is going to be a different special system as well and I doubt people will like that one either
Imo, the very first week after making the change to the special meter was perfect. When they changed it to what they intended Trials to be, it felt like special wasn't special.
It's weird, but I actually like the change of pace it brought to zone trials...at least on burnout. Special basically right away without the initial snipe lane right down middle...Definitely needs to be tweaked on how much ammo you get though
They put on Twitter that they actually did mean for it to be Burnout, even though they said Rusted Lands
I ran double primaries this week and went flawless my first run, i would just use the crates as bait at the beginning of the round. I do think there should only be like 2 crates crates in the middle areas where fights are more possible

While I did like the meter more, it discouraged the use of snipers as it put more onus on getting the one shot to the head. if you missed both shots then tough luck, you're gonna be running around with your primary for who knows how long until you got special again. With shotguns, you dont have to aim for the head and focus on landing all the pellets and follow up with a melee.
Sliding shotguns and floating snipers...no trials for me
Unpopular opinion I found the transmat system created a positive feedback loop where those who were stomping would get access to more special as the game progressed while those getting stomped trailed behind on empty special. At least this way the playing field is even.
For all the people that were crying about the reduced special ammo with the meter system, this weekend is for you. Enjoy getting deleted by the special weapons you love so much.
I think it could work as people figure it out, would help if the capped it at 1brick per round
As a not very good at all solo pvp'er ive been getting slaughtered exclusively by special weapons. After winning a single game out of 12-13 i gave up.
Maybe double special with both weapons having harmony, making the follow-ups ridiculous

Honestly I don’t think there was anything wrong with the special ammo economy we had where you just spawn in with two shots.
They should only add the creates in the middle of each map. So each team has to fight for special
Pointless, you win special control you will already have won the round
@silverreverence6176 not necessarily....it makes it so that instead of rushing to cap point you can either go for special or cap point. So if one team goes to cap that team misses out on special

a good idea implemented poorly is a bad idea.. green ammo should drop from kills
have it drop for you and the enemy team so you can either push to pick it up or bait the enemy team to get more kills
also shoot to loot and auto loading is now super meta maybe they could even add a perk that denies the ammo bricks for the enemy team maybe call it..
"whats mine is mine" kills drop ammo for you an only you with increased drop rate in PVE

also some weapons should have selective changes like forerunner maybe should have more strict ammo compared to erianas vow
maybe they could instead have boxes with power ups but in the middle of the map and only 1 at a time other then just heavy.. spice things up the division does that in its PVP has team power ups
the goal being more primary duals + more value to green and heavy + rewarding map control

Asks why Bungie does this, forgets all he did was swap to double primaries with the other method. They specifically mentioned that “strategy” was one of the reasons they did things this way

I'm not going to lie this was one of the easiest weeks
this was honestly my easiest week in trials, I was able to punish people going for the crates and I was able to screw them over when they crutch on conditional without special, I don't think this change will be as bad as everyone is saying

Played one trials game and called it a weekend. The idea of wasting time in a round to run to a special ammo box instead of just having it automatically takes away from time i could have spent shooting people and having fun.
The problem is snipers and shotguns. One hit kill weapons need a nerf in PVP so they are not on hit kills. Then all the special ammo goofiness could stop. A primaries only PVP is a mistake and unfun.

Remember, this is a test. They know it's a lot, they want to see how it plays. Then next week they will make it less to compare. They want to see how many people go and fight for special and how it influences play.
BUNGIE knows damn well special and heavy are big plays.
IN D1 the best strat was to attack and defend the areas of special/heavy when the time arrived because it was put on a timer.
However, people were too damn stupid to realize such common sense. This is why people always chose to shotgun ape and one shot melee for so long. Yall just don't want to aim hahaha.

If I went flawless and still have my 7 win card, can I still farm the adept weapon of the week (summoner)? I went flawless and still haven’t gotten a drop from trials match wins post flawless. Did they change it or is my Rng bad? This how I always farmed trials but idk if anything has changed?
Yes after every win on that card so long as you went flawless there will be a chance for it to drop. The rng just sucks balls rn

Trials sucks always has always will, it just doesn't feel like pvp to me, & Destiny pvp at that. It is like the special Olympics for those not good at special Olympics.
I must be the only one on this channel that was really happy about the special changes. Snipers are FINALLY somewhat viable once again!
Why is everyone on board with them changing special ammo and ability charge rate to begin with. Destiny has always been about power fantasy and the cool abilities, the movements the gun play. It’s never just been a fps. Need I remind everyone what happened when they cried about special the 1st time…we got supremacy and double primary. So stop crying and get good it’s not hard to stop an ape with a shotgun or someone with any other special, learn the game learn the movement or go play call of duty where it is just an fps. Stop ruining the game for everyone else.
And even if some maps make stopping apes very difficult I highly doubt anyone would prefer no special at all, which I’m sure would be the easiest thing for them to do and checkmate (the meter) already is that to an extent. This is much closer to the middle ground than anything else. IMO special should still have a meter (and indicate when someone gets ammo from said meter) but still spawn in at the beginning of every round of trials. Just the meter creates a snowball affect and there’s no way to come back if they get special before you do and they’re relatively decent, it is possible to stop yes but they have to make mistakes and you can’t if there’s any shot of getting out of that hole.

@sequoia7284 to each there own man but I just don't agree. Taking like 3 or 4 primary kills to get special is so dumb in trials. Ppl complaining about primary fights need to just go play apex or something. It's part of the game and ppl need to get over it. Just my opinion though

The meter system leads to snowballing way too easily. Which in turn makes matchmaking even more unforgiving.
I'm beginning to believe someone on the PvP team avidly plays destiny & crutches on conditioned 😂 needs it on him at all times 🤣 garbage weekend not worth the trouble tbh hope the numbers are at an all time low

Is jake a aimbotter ? Does anyone know ? He peeks corners and knows when somone is jumping around a corner blindly before u can see them on screen ? 1:50 second mark weird stuff . Maybe im just ignorant to knowing how to tell when someone's jumping behind a corner that i cant see
