Trials of Osiris is an incredibly fun mode and it can be incredibly rewarding, when you finally reach The Lighthouse. However, it can also be incredibly frustrating, when it feels like "Bad" teammates are holding you back from the glory that you deserve. I've got more experience than any other player, when it comes to carrying people to The Lighthouse, so hopefully you can learn a thing or two, to help you in your own matches. Enjoy!

Honest advice. Try to play around your teamates. If you see them going for flanks? You wait on the other side of that flank long enough to let him get a pick or assist him getting a pick. If your team gets the pick watch over that res. Youd be amazed at the amount of times the team forgets the res and ut goes back to a 3v3 when you could’ve watched res and stay in the zone. But yeah most importantly play around your team. If they’re aggressive be aggressive with them. Same if they’re passive you should play passive.
It really is simple logic. You have a 50/50 chance when you load in & your skill sways the match. & he’s not just talking gun skills, kd, etc.. it’s also about recognizing where cover is, where your teammates are, what your teammates are doing. If you think going to zone is the play but both your teammates run far left, go help them. That’s part of the skill he’s talking about that could sway your match to a W. Awesome video Jake. Love you!
That's how I feel sometimes if both team mates are up in a 3v1 I'll stay on point because it for me feels like you're forcing their hand to make a move even though it's not the best play. Sometimes I would push up with the team but one guy gets bodied and I'm like it's their fault they are going for what they think is the right play. Sometimes I think it's all about where you're at mentally don't get mad just learn from it.
As soon as I inspect them and see arc damage resistance x3 and heavy ammo finders I know I’m done

Jake, the matchmaking is against the mid/bad players the game always balance the solo queue matches like 1 mid player with 2 bad players vs 3 mid/good players it is always like that

I have been actually having a good time playing trials. Might get some sweaty matches. But have been going flawless for the last 3 weekends. Solo queue can be rough. But I’ve been having fun with it.

One thing I love about you is you play on controller so the plays and strats you use are much more applicable for me. I used to play on mnk but my pc sucks so I just use my ps5. But I can’t replicate wallahs gameplay on a controller so your more grounded yet aggressive playstyle is much easier to emulate and learn from

got to lighthouse this week after about 5 hours of grinding had some rough teammates had some strong ones, your videos are always helpful to keep a cool head and learn plays.
I appreciate this video. Im a .49 trial's player who just started playing due to the changes to loot and how much easier it is to obtain. So like I said this video made me subscribe as I've watched a few before this one but i appreciate the commentary of the matches. I like the break down and tips . I appreciate the real talk about skills and i absolutely understand that it's me that's making mistakes but i hope to learn and get better. Your videos are very informative and the break down of fights makes this a very good series! Please make more like this for the lower skilled players.

i Some what Agree with you Jake, like Game can be hard Yes. can you get bad team mates Yes. also and i getting bad players 3 games in a row Yes. i find in trials i 65% of the time get the players who are maybe should not be in trials. and I know i am not the best but watching your weekly Streams to help me improve but i still get the players who are not the best

Been working on a card of ferocity. Got to 6 wins like 6 times already to face sweaty teams and get bumped back to 3. So frustrating.
I just played trials for the first time in over a year. I was worst player on all games played. But I got a great summoner, a helmet, pulse and 3 hand cannons. Not bad.

Thank you for what you said at the end of your video here. I get irritated with a teammate wasting those precious seconds at the beginning of a round shoot at a fellow teammate just because they aren’t playing up to their expectations of how that player should be playing as if shooting at them wasting that time is really going make them play better. If your all that then compensate for their lack of skill period. I hate when people are toxic, no one plays perfectly all the time, no one.
I'm always cautious about pushing other players even when their separated cuz even if i get a pick, unless my team is somewhat competent, they just end up dying in dumb ways and this happens quite regular in solos unless your a god PVP player it can get frustrating very easily. I appreciate you putting out this video to help ppl out hopefully they will understand how to deal better with certain situations
I heard you mention mida multi being pretty good and I gotta say having radar always up while ads is HUGE
After 1 match I pretty well knew shotguns and fusions, smg’s wouldn’t be any good. I’ve switched over to either wish ender/the supremacy and Polaris lance. I’ve also had success with Braetech Werewolf - 94 range and kill clip has surprised many opponents
If you remember me Jake, I was the weird Cadmus Ridge Lancecap guy a few weeks back. Extremely good 1v3 loadout with Stasis titan on a pulse.
Went flawless solo with adept prophet and heliocentric. Countless second flawless runs just destroyed by the lowest common denominator players. Im not trying to hate, i get everyone has to start somewhere. But holy shit is it frustrating.
Your comments about luck towards the end are, on its own the best advice for any player imo. In todays world, even IRL outside of gaming in places like work and sports, people are too quick to blame others for their faults. You cannot change others, you can only change yourself. If you work on improving your self, the skill of others can be offset by your own knowledge and abilities. If you focus all of your attention towards another persons actions, you are not learning and improving yourself.
This map was brutal this week. Still had fun. Got 50 rounds and 7 wins (not flawless). It is what it is.

Went flawless this weekend I was using the glissando with keep away/ box breathing it's op and positive outlook with surpass/kill clip and arc hunter
It is really frustrating tbf, a lot of matches have been a nightmare for me this week. But I realised just keeping a calm cool mind helped a lot, kept me being able to carry rounds time and time again. Although I’m unable to get my second flawless solo this week because every 2-3 games I get two teammates who do nothing all game and it does get annoying… but that’s just the side effects of going solo, not all teammates will be good 😂
Exactly. The only thing you need more than skill in solos is patience
I have friends that sit on a 0.6 kd overall and I love them to bits, but they don’t understand that when they say they get bad teammates all the time, that they are also bad teammates!
I faced off against you either saturday or sunday, cant remember which. I honestly amazed myself that I managed to keep a 1.0 kd. Sir Noodles the Great was my gamer tag. GG well played, still hate the map lol
Biggest thing I keep seeing going wrong and how I play is I prefer to hold zone and cap, others go full kamikaze and don't play the objective. Almost like they do it on control as well!!

I love Jake, and I really enjoy watching his videos and stream. But what he doesn't show you in this video is that when he was attempting to record this during his streaming Saturday is it he had a reset and start over after game three because his teammates were so bad. I really wish he would just come out and say that yes sometimes your teammate are so bad, there's nothing you can do realistically speaking.

Me yeah with the catalyst… I’ve been working on the catalyst the past two days and I haven’t been able to get the kills with it because I’m either A going against Jade rabbit, B getting outshot by an auto because they all seem to melt me constantly.. C I get flinched on the final shot that would kill the enemy because they have high call rounds.
UGH I just want this catalyst this gun would feel sooooo much better with no distractions

Bro if you have only managed 3 wins since d1 there’s something in particular you’re doing that is directly causing your team’s losses. In general the main thing players do wrong is their positioning (as in not using cover effectively and not holding good angles), and either being too aggressive/passive. I would also advise playing with your teammates as much as possible as a solo. That means if your team pushes you must join them and provide help, and if they sit back you cannot push on your own.
The worst teams are always the ones which have 3 soloes doing their own thing and getting individually picked
And look, I’m not saying if you were doing something different you’d go flawless regularly or even every week, I’m just saying if you play with your team and do the basics well, you’d be surprised at how well 3 average soloes can do

Idk if I'm extremely bad but smgs are in a kind of tough spot, I tried using subjunctive? The arc vex smg for a funny voltshot + lucky raspberry and I was getting destroyed so hard that I thing I have some kind of trauma now
Subjunctive is a much more PvE focused gun. Lightweights are also the hardest to use at the moment because they get out ranged by the other smg archetypes, so maybe that will help you feel at least a little better
I wouldn’t be using that weapon. I also wouldn’t be using Lucky raspberry. Look up TH-cam videos and watch Jake play on twitch to get ideas as to what guns and armor you should be using. You can’t just grab anything and jump in. I mean, you can but you’ll probably get destroyed. Eventually you’ll get an idea as to what’s good and what’s not on your own

GJ can definitely make a good player look bad. But I didn’t see any real challenge from opponents in this whole card. I get dump trucked most of the time but I’m facing strand hunters jumping on top of me or floating warlocks hitting snipes from out of the air. I didn’t see any of that in this run.

I have a 2 flawless runs in trials solo. It was after many failed attempts but after a quick play session im getting messages to say get out of trials.
Yeah do not let those pathetic people to get into your mind. Block them and be done with it. You won't get better unless you try. I find it hilarious anymore that these kids send messages.

My experience of Trials, such as it is, as a sub 1.0 Senior Member of the Tortoise Club, is that for a few games only, the matches seem fairly even and a good scrap ensues. However, the majority of matches are against stacked teams of gilded flawless/unbroken/etc. players with every adept weapon under the sun, and other meta weapons; current faves begin Conditional / Iggy Adept or Prospector (AR Prophecy) / Catchapra Adept (Trials GL)...in many such matches, we're all dead before we even get to the 30-second mark. Apart from Lag / Latency / Sus Players / Blatant Cheats / etc..., the biggest mystery to me is how my weapons seem to fire popcorn and party streamers a lot of the time, yet, my opponents' guns can map me in one round from places unseen - often before the other player has even materialised in my part of the universe?! That alone leads to a lot of dodgy games. And it's not just me, either.
Your narrative push for 'skill issue' is understandable from a dwindling player base perspective...but...putting white/yellow/orange belts consistently up against brown/black belt ninja squads ain't so much as a skill issue, it's the root cause of why Trials is always on the back foot with the majority of Casuals who actually want to play, but are sick and tired of being cannon fodder for the stomper mobs, i.e., the biggest squealers of them all, and this being their unending stomper squeal since way back when, 'Git, gud, skrubs'...
Nah, that don't cut it any more! It actually never did.

If you get better yourself, then maybe those supposedly “dodgy games” and difference in skill levels of “ninja squads” wouldn’t be as bad. The whole git gud skrubs thing is actually true, but just proposed in the wrong way. If you don’t have thumbs or have a disability I can see why you can’t get above a 1.0, but there is always room to improve aim, and then understanding cover, situations, what abilities you have, what certain mods, stats, and other things do to help win games.

we all grinded a lot of competitive pvp first until we felt we were good enough to move to trials, camp competitive for a while its really good because it works exactly like trials 3v3 elimination. its the perfect practice.
still give trials a try bro coz u get rewarded just for playing it now. u get the trials items nonstop hopefully u get a good roll gun like summoner or the messenger pulse, they will help u a lot.
1 tip i can give is if your not confident in your gun skill, make sure u follow 1 guy on your team and team shoot with him, this is so good its almost like cheating. it will cause your team to win games no matter how good the enemy is as long as they don't all start using the same thing to fight back lol.

Practice aiming and stuff in other game modes. The labs right now is a 3v3, comp is 3v3, and general control and other quick play is a good place to practice high intensity reactions and aiming and strafing. There’s much to practice even not in trials. Once you have those skills down you can graduate to trials. We want more people in the playlist. Come join us!! 😁
Trials is for everyone; the "good" players always seem to forget everyone sucked at the game as a whole at one point.
Speaking as a perfectly average player, the only way to get better is to play the game. The only reason I've improved is BECAUSE I play it, and I enjoy the mode more than I used to because I've improved. There is no reason to practice in other modes. Just practice in Trials. There's no law saying only good players should be in there.
I had a 1780 on one of my teams today using the most awful weapons. It was rough for them and we lost! But so what? I hope after the 1780 blueberry was done with Trials they got some engrams, got a nice weapon or two, and it was worth it for them! There are good (and meta!) weapons to score and obtaining them has never been easier. Prophet, Summoner, Igneous, Cataphract, Messenger, all amazing weapons.
To get started; look at what weapons are good in PvP and see if you have any comparable rolls, look up a basic PvP builds, then join the queue. Inspect your enemies' loadouts - ESPECIALLY if they are beaming you. Those will give you an idea of what you should be looking to farm. Forget about Flawless, just grab a Passage of Wealth and play to farm rep and engrams. Set yourself a goal of playing enough to reset your rank. Expect to die a lot. PvP stats don't matter in this game anyway, except as a flex. So who cares if yours are bad?
People shouldn't solo queue if they expect consistency in their teammates, and certainly shouldn't blame them for ruining "their" cards. Trials is for everyone, more so now than ever. Screw anyone who says you shouldn't play a part of Destiny 2 because you aren't "good enough" to.

3weeks in a row flawless solo new sandbox made my game sense feel like god mode 😂 who knew making headshots more of a requirement would make me better
My problem is I get terrible teammates while being a .5 player myself and matching people who only kill with optimal ttk so I never even have a chance to kill them first
Funny to see you, destiny has some SBMM, so if you’re a trash can player, yes a lot of times you will get put with other trash cans. I’d recommend playing normal pvp first and getting decent at it so you’ll be more adequate in trials ( the sweatiest form of pvp in destiny……)
@riioas5543 trials has no sbmm. Thats the issue with it. I can't win 7 matches in a row against players with higher elo then me.

DMT has been really good this weekend and oddly enough I’ve used dmt with prosecutor or a sidearm and does very well. The map is so freakin big sometimes a sidearm doesn’t have the range so a auto rifle helps with that mid range

I play with certain people in trials every season. Weve been playing since 2015 when trials first dropped so were at the point where we just chat shit through all the games and run flanks in silence. About 200 flawless runs later none of us can even get close to flawless outside of our team. Even with other top 1% players we end up losing.
My son has been watching this with me and is now eating opponents with Forerunner and Summoner on my Titan 😂

I do got really bad luck, like for exemple 6 wins with no loss and matching one ultra try hard team of solo when even in 3 vs 1 we can't do anything, then spawning with only 2 people on my team (and no protection from bungie cause it wouldn't be fin instead) and last game with both teammate rage quitting after the first round.. Yes I do loose a lot cause of my but Sadly, this kind of thing happen to often

I hear you on the team mates. I'm not a 2.5 player more 0.62 if I'm lucky. My games go win one, loose two on a persistent card. I am getting paired against teams where I have zero percent chance of winning half the time (according to destiny tracker).Some of the opponents trails report read hand cannon accuracy 62%. hawkmoon with over 1000 kills 93%. instead of wasting my weekend and bank holiday Monday. can they not just put me on the dubious teams more often in a row. Im on console I also had two opponent who spammed crouch whilst maintaining perfect headshot accuracy. |One with HC. the other summoner.

I can carry some scrubs and go flawless however I think you underestimate the skill level requirement it’s not a direct 1:1 I would bet it’s more 30-60 percentile players all win near 40% of their matches and it’s not until around the 70th percentile that a player would start see any significant improvement in their win percentage. A tradition bell curve if you would. Although I don’t have any numbers on destiny 2 player base maybe you could make a video on that

Every day you can farm world drops at a lost sector. If you do it on master you’re guaranteed to get one of the four drops for that day and it comes with an extra perk. There are four rotations of weapons and helio was yesterday (Friday) so it should be again on Tuesday

I just got lightfall just because I wanted to play trials. I got flawless on my first passage and don't know what to do now tbh, that was my main goal in playing. I don't see the need to grind out more light levels either because 1790 seemed to be enough.
I mean you’re not doing as much damage at 1790 as you would at 1810. You can also farm more of the adept weapon if you keep your flawless card and continue to play after you went to the lighthouse

@@ZombieBacon13only if you’re trying to get the Flawless title. Otherwise no. It’s not easy to win 7 games in a row so you’ll need A LOT of patience
