I miss being in an area with a county fair. It was fun to see the art and projects made. And because I was a town kid, I could see the animals raised by 4H and FFA schoolmates.
    ❤ that color-blocked tee!
I got too many lovingly produced afghans in my own baby shower, but a flannel blankie for the floor, breastfeeding wrap or whatever should be quick. I saw the earlier comment about that. I had a TH-cam suggestion for the making of something like that quite recently. Cheers!

thank you! Excellent to know your own experience, it helps me-- I am thinking a baby flannel blanket actually, so many are commenting about them. Since I never was a mommy, I don't know what is useful and what isn't!! :)

Love the dress. Receiving blankets were mentioned. Great idea. Simple bibs, breast feeding coverings, cloth diapers, baby bath poncho for alfter bath.. towel and washrag set. So many things....

Hey. Good to see you smiling. My go to baby shower item is a flannel burp/floor/cuddle. All I do is take some cute children’s flannel, cut it in a square or rectangle (size is up to you but 40x 40 is good) and serge the outside. I usually round the corners just to make them pretty. I will do three or four of these and usually in a pattern set. Then I will take some kind of thick fleece fabric and crochet around the edges. Lastly, I will take any leftover flannel and make a few bibs. Not a traditional bib, but just a bib where you can take one end and stick it into the other side. It sounds like a lot of work, but it isn’t. And I have gotten more compliments from mothers on these. The flannel is perfect for cleaning up spills or putting the baby down on or a light cover when breast-feeding. It is not so nice that people feel using it and washing it. This is some thing that they will actually use. Good luck and I can’t wait to find out what you did.

Hi Lisa and Penny! 👋 Your dress is looking lovely, Lisa. I look forward to seeing the finished version.
For your baby shower friend-are you thinking of sewing something for the mother or for the baby? I find that those shaped burp cloths are welcome gifts, especially if you put a little embroidery on one or more of them. A sewn bin filled with either luxury items for the mom or baby lotions, shampoos, etc. could be a good choice. Have fun! 😘

Thank you so much! A bin might be perfect, then i can fill it with other items too

Hi! Just a suggestion when I do invisible zippers I glue baste them in place and use a regular presser foot and then move my needle position right on the inside of the teeth .. works great..
as for the baby gift.. I have made car seat covers and baby nests .. I think I they are both simplicity patters..

Hi, Lisa. I have a pattern, Blank Slate Patterns by Melly Sews called the Criss Cross Pinafore and Bloomers. It’s a free pattern, you have to sign up for the newsletter. Easy sew and It’s reversible, the bloomers have ruffles, really cute. I’ve made each of my granddaughters this pattern and people are always asking their mothers where they found it. Hope this helps.

How about a baby sleep sack? I know there are free patterns available online that I have seen, and it would be a relatively quick and easy sewing, but yet look quite impressive. Otherwise there are the standard burp cloths, receiving blankets, wash cloths, and bibs that are quick, cute, and useful.

My mom made sheets for the family heirloom bassinette, which is oval, and sheets are no longer made for these odd shaped pieces.
