Remember that Chelsea needed both Drogba and Torres on the pitch to win the Champions League
Chelsea were the kings at buying a striker past his prime
Liverpool got a golden striker Chelsea got the leftovers
Barcelona got probably the greatest African player ever with Samuel l eto'o Chelsea got him 5 years after he left
Ac Milan got Scheshenko at his prime Chelsea got his ghost
@@BrandonAyonggood old shesshesshesshinko
@BrandonAyong yh and they still won titles with them
@@DarthOnOne You know what I meant 😂
@@BrandonAyong indeed. Shevchenko, Anelka, Torres, Eto'o and a few others. Eto'o was actually decent though and Torres helped Chelsea win 2 European titles. Also, I never understood why Avram Grant didn't use Shevchenko for the penalty shootout in the 2008 final.
Torres prime was higher but Drogba had a longer prime. Far longer. Torres looked a level above the prem for a season or 2.
Also how I remember that time. Well said sir!
prime torres ❌
torres liverpool ✔
Above the prem?
True…. That 2008 season 3rd ballon dor. To add on to your great comment let me just add that drogba prime was also really good I think from 11-12 champions league…. But torrres prime did more outside of goals he was real real quality AND had goals
Don’t forget injuries to Torres
Rio said it best. Torres was more difficult to guard, while Drogba is clutch. Both strikers were amazing at their prime. Miss those days.
Nice. I can definitely tell you're a basketball fan from the words you used
When the epl and football in general had proper strikers
Being clutch realistically means you were more difficult to guard. What Ferdinand is really saying is that Torres was an ever present threat at made him work harder - but he could shut him out. Drogba? Defending Drogba was easier, except for the part where he’d score.
Amen
Guard??😂
Torres before the ACL injury was nasty af. Bro was so good it was crazy. Bro was fast af, strong, agile, could dribble, shoot, finish, and header the ball well. A complete 9
Drogba was a one-man attack. Massively underrated
Torres was the better player but Drogba was just the ultimate big games striker
On their day, Drogba was the better striker. He was a great footballer too. Torres was amazing when he was very quick, but pretty useless when he lost his pace.
That is so true as a united fan I can clearly remember that night when drogba got sent off I was over the moon knowing he would’ve been a terror and Chelsea might have won had he stayed on
not necessarily true. drogba had an enormous frame but he wasn't exactly robotic in the same way most bigger strikers are. drogba had an absurd sense of striking technique, the best aerial threat of all time arguably, pretty quick for a man of his size, and overall provides a mentality that probably surpasses torres' energy even. i think torres is better at dribbling and general speed, but he is pretty unorthodox in his ability to dribble and it isn't as consistent. his movement is also superior, but id say their passing is about equal. in the box drogba is a better striker but in and around the box torres is superior. you can also argue that being a striker and excelling at dribbling isn't that valuable, if it isn't at the best or a high level. i wouldn't say torres was an insane dribbler, so in the modern era his movements may be a little more predictable, since most defenders are a lot quicker today. it's a tough debate but drogba's striking technique is so insane that you sorta have to give him the edge, for me at least
the top 5 are henry, berbatov, drogba, owen, and anelka or rvp possibly for greatest ever PL strikers
@@josephcole8046 yeah I meant Torres at his prime
@@josephcole8046😅Torres was waaay better
The Liverpool Torres was a bomb
Torres in his prime was the third best player in the world
Torres had a 2 amazing seasons at Liverpool. Drogba was excellent over a longer period of time.
Pfff you know nothing
Drogba wasn't as consistent as you think during most of his seasons. Check the stats
@@edge1rated2superstar From an outright goalscoring pov he was never prolific. But from a big game player pov he was one of the best.
3 amazing seasons, idk why people always the discount 09/10 he was brilliant, 22 goals in 32 games
@@KilluaZoldyck-qx9jf Wasn’t amazing in 08/09…… so yeah 2 amazing seasons
They had different strengths. Drogba is clearly better back to goal and on the air heading or chesting. Torres was faster and better with off the ball runs. They were both clever and nasty in their on way. I like them both.
Between all the comments, this is the one that sums it up perfectly.. well said Mr Ahmed
Both strikers in there prime were incredible. I’m just grateful I grew up watching both of these legends play the game xx
Drogba in a cup final is a scary sight. To be honest only reason United beat chelsea back then in the UCL final was because of him being off the pitch
Tbf it was his fault for being sent off. He did a very childish thing
it's extremely disrespectful to drogba's name to only mention his big game influences. you guys are acting like he wasn't competing with prime ronaldo for the golden boot. his goalscoring ability from distance, the leverage of power, his heading, hold up play, shooting flexibility in the box, is all pretty high standard. no one can question his ability to drive himself - strikers need to have the highest standard for a good mentality and drogba has this to a tea, to compensate for his lack of higher intelligence, compared to a berbatov for example
@@glidinggolovinnhe is great but no consistent
He got sent off in the 117th minute 😂😂
@@danielbriggs6482 how did the penalties go again?
I think Prime Torres over Prime Drogba but Drogba’s career over Torres career. People forget Liverpool’s Torres was clutch and tormented big teams, especially Chelsea and Vidic.
World cup. European champion.
Sadly Torres made certain choices in his career that crippled his body's ability to allow him to play to his strengths. I recall he rushed back from a few bad injuries which then recurred. After those he was never the same player. Once he lost his acceleration, he lost his confidence and once that went he was a shadow of his former self.
During his time at Liverpool he was a top 1% player. He was at the tip of the elite pyramid. Such a shame he only shone for such a short time.
@@benghiskahn3673I recall he rushed to return for the World Cup. He played decent in it but he was never the same again
Torres was and absolute nightmare terror while drogba was a ninja killing you when you least expected it. Both unbelievable
DD was on another level
Torres used to terrorise vidic and ferdinand extensively
Absolutely, all these gullible donkeys amd chelsea fans over rate their players, when prime torres stepped onto the pitch with them boots, hair band and long sleeve kit it was game over, rio always had a thing against liverpool you can see it in several clips thats why he didnt choose torres, his ego cant take it, evra on the other hand days it how it is and spits facts. Torres had everything, drogba needed service, he couodnt create much for himself as a striker he was a poacher; ferna do torres could do everything. Won world cup and euros and came 3rd to balon dor in which if ur not messi or rinaldo u have 1% chance of winning. Drogba was just above average and came in clutch at times. All these other comments that choose drogba are waffling, either hate liverpool or their chelshit supporter who cant accept that fact that torres was better then drogba just how salah is light years ahead of hazard. (Hazard said in an interview he wants to be like salah in every aspect).
I don’t know where this has come from. 3 goals against United 15 games hardly terrorised.
Yeah I know lol 😂😂😂😂
@@renatosanches1091 u mean 4 goals and 1 assist in 14 games. In team of just gerrard and torres carrying everyone else for a yr or 2 against man urinated who are literally the man city of today. Explain the context u bum boii. Scouser haters yet dick ride rooney whos a scouser💀 ooops double standards 😂😂 rooney one of your best ever forward? 7 goals 2 assists in 29 app v liverpool and he was there longer than torres was at liverpool💀 literally the best player in the world from 2007-2010. Meanwhile rooney whos one of pl best ever scored 3 more goals? Next tike u open your mouth educate yourself
Its a shame he was on a downward path with injuries before he moved to chelsea
Great player even as a chelsea fan i think everyone in that era loved him
But drogba all day
Drogba manhandled whole groups of defenders. His hold up play was the best I’ve ever seen. Still remember that great Barca side struggling with him holding up the ball from pressure long balls from his team mates. Best striker in Chelsea history.
Torres is one of the only strikers I've seen match R9 for being clinical. If he avoided his injuries he'd have become an all time great.
Please don’t ever compare the two. Torres is centuries behind R9.
@@photological🙄
Uhm, Torres was actually known for missing the easy ones and scoring the hardest ones lol, kinda like a better Darwin Nunez.
@@Dotsetc Not at Liverpool
Torres had a huge prime. Drogba was more consistent.
Drogba!! Because reliability is contagious 🫡😎
Rio picked drogba completely out of spite bcuz torres rinsed him so hard
Okay, what is there to talk about the career of Torres. Possibly missed the highest one on ones that age
@@joshuaombaka3116world cup winner 2x euro winner saved atleti from relegation multiple times
@@FersoElFlaco winning a trophy from the bench is legendary. Don't you think?
Torres is clear imo. Not even a question!!!
Prime torres is something else. Kids nowdays never know. But somehow, drogba more consistent to score goal in his prime .
Drogba of course, but i forgot how good torres was in Liverpool, so its tough.
another factor to consider is that drogba through most of his prime didn't play with mobile wingers to utilise his target man ability more. it was only the 04/5 era that drogba had useful wingers and look what they achieved. we actually don't know how good drogba was, because he was let down by the lack of good wingers in the chelsea late 2000s period
@@glidinggolovinn imagine drogba playing with prime hazard 🥶
@@jasemsultan7131
fr. it's wild to me hazard only played with one semi good striker in diego costa. he deserved so much more and so did drogba. kalou, malouda, an aging cole were him outlet support lmaoo
It was a shame that team with Torres never won the EPL. The guy was a fv*kn monster terrorizing the the living day light from defenders
Torres 08/09 was unplayable
Torres may have become one of the greatest strikers ever if he never got that one mysterious injury
The reason why they're saying this is that drogba most time struggle against utd because of vidic's physicality (vidic always struggled against torres)
Ask arsenal fans who's better and they will pick drogba.
I will personally pick drogba.
Prime for prime, i go Torres from an Arsenal fan
You people should stop deceiving yourself this term, "prime".
Didier destroyed the EPL. He scored more than 10goals against the gunners, scored multiple goals against all other big teams, scored in almost all of his games at Wembley (Master of Wembley).
@@rodrigopossebon2413
that freekick in the carling cup final vs spurs was something else. torres isn't as individually good as drogba in the box but in and around the box, torres is superior
Solid comment! I’m a gunner and Drogba all day everyday :)
torres all day all night
Torres in his prime when he first got to Liverpool was on another level, unfortunately it only lasted 2 or 3 seasons. Drogba on the other hand, had more longevity and showed up in big moments for Chelsea.
I liked Torres though.... He was a nightmare to Chelsea when he played for Liverpool.
Fernando Torres got on a Ballon D'or podium and got the bronze. He was phenomenal.
Drogba scored really big goals tho.
Drogba very dangerous in a big game
*Drogba is the Most Fundamentally Perfect Number 9 in football History.*
If u had to explain to a child how to be a striker, you show him Drogba.
No, he is not
The perfect number 9 for me would be Cr7.. The goat would be L10
@@ashash272Nah, The perfect 9 is Suarez.
There's a player called Ronaldo Nazario....also known as R9. Drogba doesn't enter the conversation.
All these amateurs! Your favorite striker’s favorite striker was R9. The greatest stricker of all time. Ask Zidane, Ibra, CR7 or Messi. Even Pelé and Maradona would tell you that. Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, el fenômeno.
Liverpool torres was a freak
Drogba for me .but tores is world class😊
Who has the better prime?? Definitely Torres.
But who was a better Poacher, Clinical Finisher, Aerial Threat, Goals from outside 18 yd area?? Definitely Drogba. Both Drogba and Torres were not consistent, BUT Drogba was more clutch and had more moments where he stepped up as a Striker than Torres. After 08', the closest Torres had to a season like that was in his last season at Liverpool.
A better Prime in what? He wasn't a top scorer once?
Drogba by a mile
*DROGBA* Even the name is Scary
Prime Torres was the best striker to ever grace the pitch !!!!!!!
DROGBA ALL DAY EVERY DAY
Drogba in big games, most clutch player after Ronaldo 🔥🔥
I know lots of you have respect for Drogba..His highlights is late header... Torres is last player to fight against Messi and Ronaldo.. Torres is better
The two great strikers,El Nino Torres was my favourite striker in those days
Drogba was a beast n Cheksea needed the two lethal strikers to win them the 2012 UCL title
Seeing that Torres goal from a turn gave me chills as I remember watching it as a child. He was an animal.
El Nino
2 of my favourites
One makes things difficult for you and one makes u look ineffective.
Drogba played with better players as simple as that. Torres created chances on his own. Could hold up the ball and dribble.
Lol, what do you know
your argument is disproven by the fact drogba held up high goalscoring numbers on his own during marseille. provide better arguments than whatever goes on in that hollow head of yours
Wow i can really see that Gerrard, Alonso were all terrible tch
lol Torres literally went to the same team as drogba and flopped one of the biggest flops of all time
Go back to sleep. They were in the same team at one time
Drogba till I die ❤❤
All day torres
It's fantastic to see people on here correcting two people who played the game and also played it against the two players.
Drogba lethal
Torres has always been a threat and a very technically advanced player ,always even in his last days in football he just hadn't had enough luck throughout his career but was always a legendary striker
08-09 Torres was undisputedly the best striker in the world
Vidic got PTSD from Torres, he had to have therapy to forget him.
Drogba was a nightmare for centre-backs
Torres was a nightmare at full-back
It makes sense that Rio chose Drogba and Evra chose Torres. Ik, some of you will argue that Torres was also a nightmare for CBs, but just like they said, Torres would make clever runs between the defences. If you watched him play, you'd know that Torres loved to run in such a way that defenders would try to block where he was going, rather than where he was actually going.
Drogba was a bull. Every CB's nightmare because you just know it was inevitable. It's like having Virgil van Dijk as a striker, CBs would sh*t their pants knowing they'd be no match for the greatest big game player of all time.
Vidic always did the dirty work for Rio.
Torres is just one of three players that won every single trophy you can win.
Torres
In this modern style football i rather have drogba over torres, his aerial dominance and intelligence positioning are more valuable than speed and technical forward like torres.
Torres anyday
Most of you say Torres but let's talk about the impact, the goals, the titles, Statistics don't lie, here it's about winning not only about opinions
In short Torres is more clinical but Drogba has more longevity in the game😁😁😁both are great forwards😁😁
Nando wow 👌 also was not on the floor every second
Drogba was a Big game player and I’ll take that any day
Watched both in their prime.
Drogba was all over the pitch, one of the best pressing attackers I’ve ever seen, outplayed prime Barcelona multiple times, scored clutch goals in UCL final and semi finals.
Torres has 2 goals in the finals of the Euros (2008 and 2012).
Torres also scored clutch goals in UCL semi finals against Chelsea and Barcelona.
Very close… I choose Drogba
Torres was a more active striker, and may have been a step, faster. Drogba was more cold blooded, and needed fewer opportunities/half-chances to score, and he did it in big games. Older Torres became more like Drogba…
Big goals DROGBA❤
Drogba is there when you need him
I think there are players you need to win the league and players you need to win big games.
El niño torres is legendary
Drogba was amazing, he wins!
I like Torres but Drogba is slightly better maybe because Torres had a short-lived career in Liverpool
Drogba sometimes doesn't need to be in box to shoot, he shooted from outside
Whereelse prime torres with good cm like Gerrard or prime spain was monster as a run behind pocher
I can see how Torres was harder to play against when he was in peak form. But Drogba definitely had a better career. Both amazing players.
Drogba was more clinical and he was strong too.
drogba was built like a rock dude
Before anyone gets butthurt about these opinions just remember these people actually played vs both players and most of you in the comments didn't.
If Torres never had that injury , he would be regarded as one of the vary best up there with Benzi , Zlatan and Lewa
Torres pre injury was an absolute beast
Drogba was absolutely unplayable in his prime
Torres in his prime was off the scales
What a time to be an English football supporter. Unlike today, back then the top teams ALL had superstar strikers. Arsenal with RVP, Liverpool with Torres, Chelsea with Drogba, Man United with Rooney. Even Tottenham had Berbatov.
Torres in Liverpool intimidated vidic and Rio but drogba was more aggressive and longer prime.
Torres all day for me , classy player 👌
Both are Chelsea's legends.
Torres. The problem is that he's prime didn't last long. Unfortunately injuries and lack of confidence because of it, made a down spiral for him.
Torres first season at Liverpool 👍🏻
Torres prime was something else, in my opinion only messi and ronaldo had higher prime levels than him in the past 20 years or so
Big centre backs had problems with Drogba with the header, it's funny how a short Evra is saying he was comfortable with Drogba
Drogba everyday. Scores in every final. The ultimate big game player 😊
No matter what you say, to me the biggest nightmare for any defender in the prem must have been Suárez... On many many counts 😈
Liverpool Torres is a machine
Torres was the end point for Liverpool in his prime. Drogba was an anchor for Chelsea’s offence for most of his career, he was like a revamped Kluivert. A lot of the times Drogba rarely played full seasons and hardly played a full 90.
For a winning team Drogba is the way to go. Playing next to him can open up attackers to play to their fullest.
Torres wasn't the same after his knee injuries but for a couple of years he was absolutely unstoppable.
Im biased but alone drogba goal sgainst bayern in final was all chelsea needed to make him a legend🤞but look at his goals an what a legend he was
Euro final, Barca semi final? Torres everyday, froths still class
Ferdinand is the old harry maguire
Against Man utd, the battle was mostly between Drogba and Vidic... so Rio is right when he says Drogba didn't actually make the game hard for me
