Great stuff. Your long shot videos are super addictive! I wasn't expected I-44 to be that busy, puts the rural highways here in Australia to shame lol. I love the service centre in between the carriageways at 6:26 lol
Thanks so much!! This was the busiest I-44 trip I’ve ever dealt with.
Most rural routes in the US are pretty dead but I-44 and I-70 is a bottleneck because it carries many slow trucks and it branches off into many highways east of St Louis
I was a student at the University of Missouri Science and Technology, and I drove from Western St. Louis to Rolla every single weekend. I didn't take I-44 the entire way, as that wasn't the fastest to get from my house, however once you hit the MO-100 Junction by Gray Summit, that's where I came onto I-44. The biggest problem with it is 2 lanes, and the fact that the amount of congestion in certain areas (Sullivan, by Cuba) is what causes these bottlenecks. Also, trucks have MASSIVE egos. They refuse to be behind another truck and will do anything in their power to get ahead of them.
What I think makes I-44 between St. Louis and Springfield is the tractor trailers passing each other slowing down traffic.
Yeaaa
This highway is interesting as it parallel closely to Route 66. It seems to get a heavy amount of traffic. Maybe the 6 lanes should extended down to where US 50 leaves the route after the STL area. I think they plan on making a portion of I-44 in Springfield 6 lanes.
Nice ride on interstate 44 in Missouri
At 14:32, Arlington Outer road on the left follows the Old 4 lane highway of route 66 which used to be a part of I-44 before It was slightly moved North,
If you see, there is a roadbed that used to follow the old 4 lane routing.
Yeah, I just looked it up, and it seems they rerouted I-44 there to eliminate a steep grade. It also seems that the old alignment was curvier.
Nice ride. I heard they have plans on widening most of I-70 and I-44 so there will be relief in a decade or so. I really hate those inconsiderate drivers that sit in the left lane when the right lane is wide open
Yea lots of left lane hogs this trip
Great drive! Have you use any ETC to pay toll like E-ZPass, TollTag, EZ TAG, TxTag, and so on?
I’m using Oklahomas Pikepass and Ohios EZPass
From STL to Joplin, this is what I-44 does as it replaces the Mother Road.
Here’s some great info: the Gilcrease Expressway extension in Tulsa is opening today!
WooHoo!!
@@CoolERoadTrips Yep, just Googled it and it’s open!
Police are better on drivers than many states, I like that. Show me state.
It doesn’t look like it lol. There seems to be oblivious drivers going 65mph lingering in the left lane and won’t move over for faster traffic
Very true
👍
Pass on the right
Not possible when there's so much left lane hogs on the left 😉

When are you doing the I-270 loop?
The eastern portion of the 270-255 loop airs next Sunday
@@CoolERoadTrips What about the one Columbus, are you doing the 270 loop?
@@kennypalermo9071 oh yes video of that coming soon.
@@CoolERoadTrips When will it be?
@@kennypalermo9071 I don't know, maybe it will be in a few more months.
What's the next big road trip?
Not sure yet. Hoping to hit Hawaii in 2023 and/or PacNW

Mo is bad for left lane hoggers
I figured!
