Been rogue main tanking since phase 1, A+ guide. Simonize's theory crafting and discord have been invaluable. In my experience, Envenom works best on the first 4 bosses and swapping to Blade Dance helps a lot on Menagerie & Thermaplugg. Depending on your healers, I'd consider swapping to BD starting with Electrocutioner as he starts to hit a bit harder than previous bosses and healers have more raid damage splitting their attention. Definitely communicate with your healers and get a feel for how they're handling your incoming damage, especially in PUGs. If your gear isn't the best, BD and/or 31 Combat (for full mits) will certainly help, but as your raid's gear gets better you'll need to prioritize threat more. I can't overstate how much better for sustained threat 11/20/0 is. Thanks again Simonize and best of luck to my fellow rogue tanks!
😂 had to main tank tonight due to tanks having an emergency. Had to take vanish of my bars due to muscle memory. 0 wipes and our fastest run to date... (dad guild). Also had to buy feint..
Kind of sad that this is something necessary to do in order to get groups, and even advertising as an OT I still can’t get a group lol. I like rogue but god damn blizzard hates us this phase. Whenever I see a geared rogue I almost always am just like “yup that guy is in a guild. No way he got that through pugs”. I’ve been pre bis for four lockouts for reference. Still nothing. Btw I main tank and rogue was supposed to be my “dps” character XD. What a twist!
Make your own group, people know gnomer now so well that discord isnt needed, theres very little raid leading to be done, just need to build the group which is pretty fast usually
Another piece of advice for last boss... when kiting, I like to use Poisoned Knife instead of Shuiken Toss. Costs less energy, applies poison, and I can use it twice while kiting the Furnace Surge. It also applies poison - meaning my stacks wont drop.
If you take Envenom over Blade Dance than you also lose the 20% dmg reduction of Just a Flesh Wound since that’s just active while Blade Dance is up. So idk if I would recommend that.

I was our OT for a day when our regular couldn't make it. I tanked the basilisk, whelp, and at the time we were still tank swapping the furnace debuff. I was especially useless on the last boss because I couldn't even dps the boss without pulling threat, and trying to kill bombs as melee is not ideal. It was fucking miserable lol. All the trash in gnomer seems harder to deal with as a MT than the bosses because rogue aoe threat is still dog shit, shuriken toss is such a bad ability.
just my 2c, if you're going to do the face cam you should either off set it from center or look at it when you talk, right now its angled best for you to look straight at the camera when talking, but if you'd rather not do that you can just offset it at an angle so that it doesnt give that "looking through you" feeling
I don't want to look like a stupid idiot but our group has had me off tank, Basilisk and Whelp, otherwise on dps. As dps spec with rune/gear swap just like you described, 1 tank for the rest. Are my healers extra sweaty? Yes. Your videos are the best, can't wait to see what you put our for P3 prep/P3 launch!!!
The problem is I never ever played melee in Wow, retail or classic, I only played caster. I’ve been enjoying healing mage, Spriest, restokin in SOD, and this time rogue tanking really intrigued me but I’m not confident with my skills as tanks 😅
Hey, I’ve been trying to utilize Main Gauche after the recent buff. Giving 3 combo points and being only 10 energy makes it a lot better. I know it’s a huge dps loss from not using Mutilate, but do you think it’s still possible to hold threat in Gnomer without Mutilate?

It's for that reason I come with a question: when tanking groups of mobs I noticed that Rapture (even with just 2/3 cp) does an insane amount of over time threat (or at least that's my impression). Wouldn't it be useful on Managerie? I onlt tanked it once and I was on Dragon duty, so I did not have time to test it myself. In any case thank you so much for your guides, they thought me everything about rogue, most especially how to love the class.
idk i read the tooltip on mutilate and it felt pretty obvious. read ability tooltip + read talent tooltip seems basic to me to learn how abilities and talents interact
despite less sustained damage, i feel that blade flurry is too good to pass up, grubbis, viscious and menagerie have you wanting to cleave down multiple mobs trash packs consist of tons of mobs too, and having blade flurry there keeps the raids smooth in my experience

If you’re tanking it’s way easier to just form your own group
Yeah if your going to the effort to tank just make your own run and be a dps instead

any fight where you need to kick, make sure you are pooling energy at all times.
