Amazing! Blue dragons have been my favorite dragons since my dad gave me the rundown of the dragons of D&D when I was a kid! He played a lot when he was in the service. We played first edition now and then up until I moved across the country back in 2001. Now that I'm older, the blue dragons remain my favorite. They simply share the place with red dragons. All the Chromatics are awesome though!
These are my favorite chromatic dragons. They aren't monodimensional. They can be honorable, devious, reasonable, proud, helpful, violent, clever, and vengeful. They feel like a metallic dragon with a mean streak. Red: Maim! Kill! Burn! Black: Your suffering is my joy! Green: Mwuahahahahahaha just as planned! White: Omnomomnomnomnom! Yellow: It's all about me! Orange: Killing is awesome! Brown: Pounce! Grey: I'm a humanoiditarian! Blue: "Explain yourself and I maybe could let you live IFF YOU make it worth MY while."
You all probably dont give a shit but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot the login password. I appreciate any help you can give me
I just had an awful idea, a wonderfully awful idea. A Blue Dragon Druid, access to spells like Call Lightning, Mirage Arcane, Control Weather, and fucking Storm of Vengeance, the ability to transform into seemingly harmless animals, and multiplying their absurdly long live span by ten.
So I'm doing something very similar for the new campaign starting in two weeks. My Tortle Druid used to be a blue dragon. They are stuck in their current form and their main goal is to get back to their draconic form. The setting is homebrew and a main aspect is that dragons are thought to be extinct. My dm allowed me to do this despite that but my character doesn't remember much of his old life, and nothing about where the dragons went. One of the spells I'm excited to use is Call Lightning. I'll also likely be using other themed spells like Fog Cloud, Control Water, and maybe Wall of Water etc. The full backstory I have established so far is that Aven, (that's his name), got taken in by a druid clan, and them seeing his natural aptitude, were grooming him to be the next Keeper for the clan. One night, Aven had a dream that triggers memories and he remembers that he's a dragon. He's somewhat panicked, and sneaks in to steal the teachings of Wildshape so he can leave. He gets caught, and escapes, maybe after injuring the current Keeper. So Aven goes off on his own to discover the fate of the dragons and get his body back. At some point he runs into the party and joins them. He'll be avaricious toward gold and valuables which may get the party into trouble on occasion. I already have clues to drop occasionally to tip off the other players. I'm super excited!
A Blue Dragon BBEG sounds like such a fun battle. Say the party is defending a city that the dragon wants. First, it sends in assassins and Bards to eliminate key figures and sabotage the city's outer cannons. So the party's caught in a game of cat and mouse hunting people who are hunting them. When the last Bard dies, she sends an SOS to the dragon so the party has to rush preparations for its arrival like repairing cannons and strategizing. Now he comes soaring in raining lightning down in a days-long siege battle so the party has to avoid sudden lightning strikes (interfering with long rests), manage damages, heal the injured AND try to shoot down the dragon with the city's cannons and outer defences. When the dragon is FINALLY brought down, the real battle begins as the party tries to kill him once and for all.
Idea: all blue dragons lairs have a pool, and they are immune to lightning, they could have their pool filled with gaint electric eels and make it so you have to go into the pool to get out of the entrance room. Maybe even needing to duck under water to get under a overhang. The pool can be pitch black or magically darkened since both the dragon and eels both have blind sight.
I remember a while ago when designing a campaign making a bard NPC who's secret patron was a blue dragon, but then when I found out that chromatic dragons aren't about that I scrapped her. Now that I know blue dragons are actually relatively chill, I think if I just changed the dynamic to where she's more placating and more of a servant that's still possible which makes me real happy
I am in party who is sponsored by a blue dragon. She gives them some funds, intel, and equipment, at the cost of them owing her a 25% cut of all plunder, having to proclaim her name and greatness wherever they adventure, run some errands for her when she orders it, and the party rogue has to spend the night with her on every visit they make.
Just remembered that there is a type of steak cooking that’s like how “kissed by lightning” is described with a slightly cooked outside, and still raw inside. It’s one category under rare and its called blue. Don’t know whether that’s coincidence or not but I thought it was cool.
My current campaign will have the players meet a silver dragon that's the monarch of a kingdom and they'll eventually go on a mission to maintain a peace treaty with another kingdom governed by a blue dragon.
You know... My party is dead set on hunting some young blue dragons that moved nearby to their current area... They are level 4, thanks for reminding me how little chance they have.
Ever since AD&D2ndE days moving into 3.5e, my wizards always seek to Polymorph young dragons into humans. So they can be crimelords or a town baron for the next campaign boss to deal with.
Great videos. By the way I once DMed a campaign where my players was sailing on a ship and was attacked by pirates. The first mate was a Sorcerer him and the Captain escaped. When they got to dock at this coastal desert city they investigate the pirates that attacked them ending up finding they belong to a Criminal enterprise that is being a real pain in the ass for the local government. They find the Pirate gangs hide out and fight their way through. They find the Captian and Sorcerer there with their boss who orders them to deal with these intruders or die. After killing the Captain and Sorcerer the follow the boss through a portal in the next room and find themselves in a desert cave. Turns out the boss was a Blue Dragon using the Criminak organization to acquire treasures for his Horde. They had to fight him in his lair this was a tough fight multiple players almost died it was fun doing the mob boss Blue Dragon.
I read/heard somewhere that a Blue Dragon can be played like a quintessential Mafia Don. Love the idea of desert raiders as foot soldiers and strong wizards or fighters as “Cappo”/captains who go to towns or trade posts and extort tribute or skilled people to the organization. Pay and join or Fry!
8:45 you joke, but the 3 or 3.5 edition draconomicon has dragon weapons. Because while dragons are weapons, they want every edge against other dragons. And if you want a plethora of influence in creating Blue Dragons, just create a list of various crime lords. Their minions, look up the organizations. Blackbeard with Murder Incorporated? Hell yar!
fave moments "nice governing Dan" and how black dragons do evil for evil sake. i can just see a black dragon defending its crimes" Oh I don't do this for me. This is for PURE evil. I'm selfless."
I just watched a video where you were talking dragons and commenting on the blue dragons being the best, and then BOOM! you posted this vid on blue dragons. and then I watched it. that's my real life story.
You wouldn’t wanna fireball an actual dust devil, Brian, that would make it a fire devil! Also, I too used to think it was strange that blue dragons (or any lightning based creature) would be in a desert. Then I moved to one, there’s little humidity so static electricity is pretty common plus there’s dust storms! Dust storms have electricity surging through them or maybe a blue dragon just lives near me... Not to mention, a burrowing speed makes more sense for a desert dweller rather than a coastal one.
Blue Dragons! The first thing that came in mind was the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from Yu-Gi-Oh, well even tho they are prob more silver looking, lets be frank, they are prob. blue Dragons. Case in Point 1:35 , thats some Kaiba stuff.(well, Kaiba is prob. a mix of red and blue, but yeah....) Keep up the Good work Guys!
I think it’s weird that Red Dragons are chaotic. I would think they would either be neutral because they are selfish, or lawful because they want to exert dominance.
Good point but its because reds tend to almost always be angry. They can go on a berserkers rampage if just look in their general direction. That's why their chaotic.
@@InquisitorThomas Yessss! They are so evil and cruel it's almost cartoonish those are my favorite kinds of monsters and that's why I like them so much atleast
Purple dragons are a thing! In fact that's how the Knights of Cormyr get their Purple Dragon Knights name from: a black dragon in the area had aged in such a way that its scales had become more purple than black.
Regarding looting dragons: in the Hobbit (book), Smaug wore a diamond girdle and had precious gems etc. stuck in his scales. So it’s not entirely unreasonable to loot them.
I have a question. Would a blue dragon avoid combat with another dragon if it has the chance to without the other dragon knowing; like a red dragon would? Edit: Also would you ever do episodes about how you do monsters differently in your games. You said that you do dragons differently and I am curious about how you do them.
As Brian asked about the colour of the scales being purple, I was thinking ... Is it possible for dragons to cross breed with each other? If so what happens?
James Heskett I don't see why not, but seeing as how most dragons think they're the best kind of dragon, I doubt a hybrid dragon would survive very long. Mechanically I would just add the half-dragon template to a dragon
Soo happy to see Will geek out more than normal. Question… Animation vs theater of the mind…. What’s y’all’s 2c on the legend of vox machina blue boi? Did they do this (bamf) subrace justice?
Years ago ran a campaign of sorcerers descend from a group of blue half dragon/ half Baator devils. Very lawful in their traditions, helpful for a price, could care less for non blue skins. And they wage war with a tribe of red half dragon/ demons orcs/ human raider nomads. No one had a problem role playing a lightning base mystic, but no one wanted to deal with them in campaign, cause if you slight one of them .. word spreads, .. then you have hundreds coming after you. Take the feat Craft Wondrous Item to create lightning base spell effect items. Gifts/bribes to his dragon forefather.
Ever since I've read Dragonlance as a kid, I've wanted to be a knight of takhisis so I could be a blue dragon rider lol Khellendros was always my favorite
they are. They are more devious and let others do the work though while blues are more "do it yourself" style while favoring survival of the fittest. A green dragon would make itself appear as a blue rival to deceive ppl while the blue might be loudn proud of who it is and make ppl know who us eating them. Dragons who make themselves appear as another dragon colir are very mean for adventurers btw 😄
Hello so blue dragons are my second favorite dragon, silver dragons forever my favorite. So I’m DM a campaign of mind that heavily based on dragons. And celestial dragons are a big part of it. So if any chromatic dragon were to become metallic just out of curiosity, what color would it be? I was thinking blue because they’re less chaotic then per say a black dragon? I have this city where all dragons live in among one another keeping order and peace and the silver dragons are the ones watching over them along with gold dragons.
If all the chromatic dragons are chaotic evil, with the exception of blue dragons (lawful evil)...how do you explain Tiamat --- the Mother of all chromatic dragons, who herself is lawful evil?
Anyone else see through the man on the left's hat? (im relatively new to this channel so im not familiar with their names yet) I can see the books behind his hat through the hat
They can. Greens will do it to further their schemes against humanoids. Most of the time they just don’t see a point in taking on what they feel is a lesser form.

Blue dragons is basically a mafia boss with wings.
Getting protection money from the local villages
Or the government....with the difference that sometimes the dragon Will actually protect you
I was literally just thinking "when's the blue dragon episode coming out". Because lighting is the best
*STOP SCRYING ON ME*
Ya dude, I'm sour silvers aren't lightning as well. In my games they will be
Blue dragons use their lightning to power a kobold run burger joint. It's the best one in town
I like playing blue dragons like mob bosses/Godfather-like characters. I think its fitting.
The word Brian is looking for is Petrichor and it happens AFTER the rain. 😂

Khellendros/Skie definitely gave me a bias toward blue dragons among the chromatic dragons.

Red dragons - arrogance
Blue dragon - confidence
I also have always seen blues as more of an ocean based dragon with reds being more mountain/deserts.
moments before a rain event, an “earthy” smell known as petrichor does permeate the air.
Dragons can wear rings amulets, etc This is something common among the more powerful unique dragons

Green Dragons are also Lawful Evil, but I'd say they're more on the border between Lawful Evil and Neutral Evil.
Green dragons are lawful Evil. Blue dragons are Lawful evil. Big E vs. big L.
Great show, blues are my fave, too. They PROVE they're as awesome as they say they are, not just stroking their own egos.

That would be a cool idea if Chancellor Palpatine was actually a very ancient Blue Dragon in disguise.
Hes more of a green
" Their face is a weapon."

For some reason this is hilarious to me.
Fuck ya!
Im literally painting a dragon, while I was already listening to dungeoncast dragon videos, I was mid-video on the 2nd metallic dragon video.

Now all I need is a Raistlin Majere episode lol
Ozone is not before the storm, it's caused by the lightning fusing O2 to O3.

Apparently a Blue Dragon died in Washington. Cause it's always fucking raining

IT’S ELECTRIFYING

Blue dragons, second best boys (greens are obviously best)
You misspelt Black.
@@InquisitorThomas Yessss! They are so evil and cruel it's almost cartoonish those are my favorite kinds of monsters and that's why I like them so much atleast

Purple dragons are actually just the really old black dragons whose scales fade from ebony to a dark purple over time
As Brian asked about the colour of the scales being purple, I was thinking ... Is it possible for dragons to cross breed with each other? If so what happens?
James Heskett I don't see why not, but seeing as how most dragons think they're the best kind of dragon, I doubt a hybrid dragon would survive very long. Mechanically I would just add the half-dragon template to a dragon
when lightning hits sand it turn into glass so the area of the blue dragon lair should be surounded by glass
I have but a single question. Will, where can I buy one of those hats of ethereal nature??!?
Keep it up guys loved the episode!
Lighting... Sparks joy?
So Blue Dragons are the “Daleks” of dragon kind. They even use lightning based attacks!
My favorite Chromatic Dragon. I always wanted to do a Blue Dragonkin Cleric. I think it fits.

Ion filters give off ozone. Some people think it’s sweet. Some think it promotes health. It’s just O3 oxygen as opposed to the normal O2.
