- Crashing an FPV drone is one thing... crashing the DJI FPV drone is another! It is quite expensive and fragile so... what happens when you crash your DJI FPV drone? How much is it going to cost you? When will you see your drone again? Is DJI care refresh any good for this drone?
That's a LOT of questions and I will give you a LOT of answers in this video! This is a step by step chronological sequence of what happened from the day I crashed my drone to the day I had it back and I was flying again.

Makes dji look good, let's the TH-camr do all of the work and it only costs the companies pennies, compared to their annual marketing budget.

Also, I reached out several times to DJI and they turned me down each and every time on getting anything for free to review.
Would be great to ACTUALLY inform yourself before making such claims, you know, so we reduce the amount of lies spread around.

Especially when you're selling a item that is made for stunts and eventually crashes.

I believe care refresh is a free repair. You do not have to select a replacement, just select repair. This way it cost nothing except for your original refresh cost. I suspect, you will still Recieve a refurbished drone or possibly a new one. If you compare your situation to this approach, you are still ahead but after another repair, you start to benefit. You can always select a full replacement should the cost of repair be huge.
Very possible. But the 200$ to be part of it for a year is almost 4x more expensive than 1 repair. So not THAT worth it unless you crash a LOT within a year. Cheers
In conclusion , the care refresh for the DJI FPV IS NOT WORTH IT, even without the discount or higher service fee it would've not been more than $150

DJI is a top notch company for serious and commercial drone owners , and the care refresh also covers fly aways and unrecoverable crashes. If you have a mini 2 or 3 the cost of replacement is of course much lower but I am looking into personal item insurance based on homeowners Coverage

DJI has one when you get the drone, otherwise I use “liftoff” that can be downloaded and purchased on “steam”. Take care

Oh being a TH-camr means absolutely nothing - like really they don’t care (tried many times writing to them).
If it fell in water it’s not the same thing that happened to me so don’t really compare the 2 incidents unfortunately. Hope it’ll resolve for you 👍🏼

And for sure Dji want make advertisement only your video they react on it hmmm or maybe i didn't check good.
I wrote then many times but it is what it is I dont like the arrogant the time will come that more drone company will come then they will change.
Nowadays, this drone so cheap Don't need to send it in! Broke my drone, bought a new one on ebay for 150.00 shipped! would of cost me 192.00 to get repaired and 14-days to get back

That's typical for good chinese companies. They are not flawless but they care for their customers and try to find a satisfying solution. In this case neither Care Refresh nor doing it by yourself would have been an option. Even only the spare parts might have been more expensive. This way of dealing with their customers is also a reason why DJI is so successful.

@@cris_photographyI’m all over the place with my other drones, the color grading for the fpv on this one seems pretty limited so any setting advice would be greatly appreciated. Those pictures are amazing shots if that’s standard for the mav I always have to edit my photos regardless of what drone I’m using.

I think I'll get liability through another company with is $84 for the year and the DJI Care Refresh ($99). So $183 to get me started and have peace of mind. In the event that something happens to my drone all I have to pay is $119. Which is still $122 cheaper than the full policy with the other company.

I crashed my dji fpv 2 Times already the first time it was A little Crash 1 arm broke i payed 54€ for every Thing (and i got A New drone just like him) the second time was A big Crash 2 Arms broke the gimbal the camera lense and the mainboard were damaged i payed 330€ for a replacement (also A New one) i had no care refresh so only if you had A big Crash its with it btw at the second Crash i had the armbracers on and thats why i hab 2 brocken Arms bc the armbracer ripped off the second arm and i had the gimbal Cover made out of aluminium this Thing just bent the whole drone so now that i have my drone back i will never install any of this

Just crashed mine a couple days ago. Slammed into my roof then on to the concrete patio. Hurt to hear it scream. No dji refresh but my parts are here and 100.00 usd later I'm getting ready to rebuild.
Sucks mate! Glad u have the parts and hope it’ll all be fine! I didn’t have the care refresh either and I was shocked to hear 72€ for repair and shipping (to get a new drone basically). Might be useful to know for some that are less handy than you (like me). Take care!

Try searching for “DJI repair” and go on their website. You should find the section for repair of the FPV drone there and you just have to follow the instructions. Hope that helps

The point of the video is that… you do NOT need care refresh and how I paid less than fixing it yourself (at least half the price)
So ya I don’t totally get your point. Also, if you wanna order the parts and fix everything yourself - great - but in that case why even get a DJI FPV and not get a regular 5” quad? Anyhow, am sure someone might be happy to know how cheap you can get it fixed (actually get a new one) without braking the bank.

ok dude, i just watched your vid and was not trying to make a point, just relating my experience, and if someone choose to get the drone or not , with or without refresh, its all good either way.
I crashed mine on the 3rd fight. Gymbol busted battery cover busted. Blades destroyed.

Hi Cris, I'm so sad right now. I crashed my drone and have been down since. It is a pretty bad crash. Watching ur video has given me some hope but I'm not even sure where to start. My main concern here is that I am all the way in Nigeria ( Western Africa) and I'm not sure how the shipping is gonna be. I'm so depressed by the whole thing. Not sure how to go about the repair/replacement process

So I sent mine in on Nov 3rd UPS delivered on Nov 5th DJI confirmed they got it today Nov 8th so we will see when they will respond with assessment so I can pay and get this over with will update you guys with my story

@@cris_photography ok so little edit after checking more carefully I shipped on November 1st there was mechanical issue so package didn't leave California until 3rd UPS marked delivered 5th DJI marked received 8th on 9th damages reported 1 arm and 1 motor since it broke right off and missing in action lol total cost $85.81 just paid and next update I'll give is when they ship out and when I get the package and if it's my same dji fpv or new

I am mostly watching this as knowing I am not going to pay for the 3rd year for DJI Care Refresh for my Air 2s for $100 dollars for my last year. I only crashed it once a few months after I had my 1st and only accident. I might have an accident in the next year, than again I might not. So, if I don't I save $100 bucks. If I do have an accident I will probably not pay that much to get it fixed or replaced if I do break an arm on my Air 2s. Probably going to be just fine and it seems more like a waste of money.
It really sucks that DJI which I didn't understand only does a total of 3 years of protection on their drones no matter how much you pay for a DJI Drone! So, if you own your drone for 3 years, you will not have DJI Care Refresh anyways and your going to have to just send it in if something does happen to any of my drones in the future. Which for people that just wanted that extra protection leaves them hanging with a drone that you can't get it protected, but after everything unless you crash a lot and open up a lot of repair tickets is probably not going to be a big deal to just pay for the repairs without DJI Care Refresh and get on with out lives.
DJI sure knows how to scam you out of your money and doesn't want to protect anything after just 3 years. I did have deeper concerns regarding my Mavic 3 Classic, but unless I am doing a lot of stupid stuff I probably won't have many issues at all regarding permemantly destroying that drone.
DJI Avata's on the other hand I have more concerns about destroying them due to the FPV world, but they really aren't horribly priced and repairing even the Avata 2 that is almost below $500 bucks won't leave me with a huge bill. I did Care Refresh with my OG Avata and it only cost me $29 bucks after everything. At least after learning how things work with DJI I don't think I am going to sweat it out too much whether I have Care Refresh or don't have it.

Thanks for your personal feedback and experience! Ya I agree it is sometimes tricky to chose the right DJI care for the right drone and to predict if you’ll crash it or not.
Personally never crashed a drone other than an FPV drone. So I never needed it for my 2s, 3, etc.

Lmao!!! I thought I was the only one. I wrecked my first one 8 days after purchase. I cried a ton... like seriously... a 34 year old guy sitting in his car crying his eyes out... I didn't want to be in that position again... bought 3 more drones and care refresh as well.

No I did not. I did not want to either (as explained in the video, it would have cost me almost 200$ to juste be part of the program vs 74$ to get a new refurbished drone). Cheers

in your case the crash wasn't major, but i still believe that dji care refresh is overpriced. i fly my drone only at high altitudes in manual mode, otherwise sport or normal

Getting a refurb is NOT great. It's not BRAND NEW, it's simply new to you. Literally every aspect of your experience verified that dealing with these Chinese companies is shit, start to finish. You think they just made a one-off mistake with regard to that shipping bill? How many of these units do you think they ship?

DJI care refresh is really important , I lost my drone in the beach and I couldn't find it so when I chat with DJI they sent me an avata for 150€ (drone and battery only ) I guess it's worth getting care refresh
What drone did you lose? I never once lost a drone so spending 300 bucks for 1 year is more expensive than buying a new drone after 2 years!
For the Avata though it’s worth it - it’s around 120 bucks for a couple of years so yes in that case I’d go for it. This is specifically for the DJI FPV though - not any other drone. Cheers

Did you crash the goggles too? Why did you send them back?
As replayed in another comment earlier, there has been a connection problem hence the sending of the goggles. Was not necessary since they can see all the flight details from the drone itself. Good to know for the future in case

Same, except the two video antennas were also destroyed. It's quite easy to fix once you've done soldering before. I fixed mine with parts under 40€ form Aliexpress and flew few times, until deciding to build a quad with vista kit. Haven't flown freestyle with this since ever :D

IDK why you wouldn't get some sort of insurance on your drones. Renters insurance is $15 a month. If you crash it whatever you do don't tell them it was stolen. 😉 *Winky face
Here in Switzerland it doesn’t work that way. Also, I paid 72$ to get a new (refurbished) one directly from DJI. If you divide that by 15$ that’s 5 months worth of insurance. So either way it’s not better really. Maybe in the US tho? 😏 take care!
Why did you send the goggles back?
I had a disconnection with the drone when it crashed, so I thought they might need it to check if anything was wrong.
I now know what to do in case I send it again for repair 👌🏼

What a useless video....if u buy a 1,4k drone - and CAN be insured by the manufacturer - why not....im not afraid for crashing my dji fpv, because i have care refresh

Now, if u have to pay 199$ to get the « insurance » from the manufacturer AND pay an extra 260$ for each crash after that, i.e 460$ to get it repaired under « warranty » and I paid 72$ without it, then why the hell would you pay that much money? Get my point? Hence the video - maybe someone doesn’t want to pay 4x more than he needs to…
