    Almost everyone wants to tinker and change the performance. I just got mine, I have never flown a drone before and it is exactly what I want. I’ll probably never take it past sport mode and that’s just fine with me. I don’t plan on crashing because I’m not gonna do tricks or race it ever. Just cruise around looking at stuff and appreciate it for what it was designed for.

      @@ChuckFickens1972 Agreed. Saying noob was uncalled for. But, having both, the fpv in sport mode is kind of the worst parts of both drones combined because it only has a 1-axis gimbal rather than the 3 from the other DJI drones for super cinematic shots, and it’s not able to get the feeling of flying like a super hero you can get in manual mode. If you have it, it’s worth practicing on the simulator app and then trying for real by switching to manual mode really high in the air and hovering your finger over the break just in case. I’m telling you, it’s so much more fun and fulfilling. For heavens sake though, please continue to err on the side of caution if your gut tells you to. A 100 mile-per-hour flying chunk of plastic with spinning blades could kill someone. Be safe, and have fun!

    I'm not going to lie. took it out yesterday and was loving it. the range is insane. love the "what i see is what i get" from the camera as well. Still cant pull off tricks as smoothly as the custom builds can but for that long-range "fpv" cinematic stuff it's fantastic. it's also hella fast. lol.

    I use the DJI FPV drone. Have 14 batteries and have put the hours on like no other. Have been fully satisfied with it. I originally got it for the speed and to fly in normal gps DJI style but Its been my introduction to FPV manual mode. Battery life is everything tho. Thanks for your review! I’ve only ever flown DJI but have abused them chasing races for days and hours for fun. Mavic zoom is my other. The new batteries have less issues than the mavic 2 pro/zoom where I’ve losses close to 40 batteries some of which only had 3-8 charges on them.

    Crushed shadows was my biggest complaint. I actually really enjoyed my time with it when I had it for review, I almost bought one for myself but opted for a more traditional long range cinematic build in the end. I will say that the worry-free return to home and airbrake feature are pretty nice and super confidence inspiring, even for an experienced fpv pilot.

    I really appreciate that you said it clearly, it has its public, only because it wasn't the way people learnt before does not mean is bad. I do believe that for cinematic shots its an excellent drone, not everyone is interested in the Acro/Freestyle. Thanks for the great video. 🔥

  • @kirkdoede2857
    @kirkdoede2857 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Just bought one. Did a lot of research before dropping the 1200$ so i knew exactly what i was getting. I've been flying planes and helis close to 50 years. Drone is rock solid in my opinion. Took it out in my back yard yesterday which is fairly confined and was very nervous with the investment. Its very unnerving to put googles on and trust it for the first time especially after flying planes and helis, if you loose site of them their gone. So the first takeoff i didn't use the googles and lifted off and stopped at 100Ft. let go of the sticks and it stuck right where i left it. So i put the googles on and flew it around my subdivision.
    My only mistake was how long the flight time is, they tell you 20 minutes which is not even close to being true. i think i was just over 10 min and wasn't paying attention to the battery life and the low battery alert popped up. This is not good on your first flight and no drone experience. It was up high and 4 houses down so i hit the return to home button and it started coming back but very slow (normal mode). I was afraid it was much to slow so i took the googles off and took it out of return to home mode and flew it back quickly and landed it safely.
    This morning did a complete flight with the googles without any problems. So i have to agree with this review. I think DJI is shooting for a beginner fpv package which isn't good for the advanced fpv flyer or even someone wanting it strictly for photography but to put everything into one package and make a decent platform for all of it. I believe if you let the drone do what they designed it for in normal mode it would be very difficult to crash it even someone with no flying experience. With that being said i would NOT recommend it to anyone that hasn't had any type of r/c flying experience. Always get help especially with the cost of this drone and the dangers involved.

      worth having the drone? As in been wanting to go digital but don't know if to get another drone or just goggles im using the aomway v1 i think right now so been itching.

    • @kirkdoede2857
      @kirkdoede2857 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesbond-pr5jl Well I guess it depends on what your looking for. I went straight to digital and it's much better than analog for video in everything I have seen. The expense of this drone make it a big loss if you fly manual and crash it or worse yet lose it. I'm still worried over water and long distance. Also now you have to deal with the FFA which defeats the whole purpose of long distance and flying by yourself. I was a ways away and dropped it down to about 50ft and lost complete video, it went into return home and went up and I got the video right back. All in all it's amazing technology but it's also pricey too.

      @@kirkdoede2857 well mostly wanted new goggles and the safety things might be nice sometimes and was just going to use an amazon card interest-free and get a drone and goggles haha.

    • @ibrahimalrabiah1179
      @ibrahimalrabiah1179 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamesbond-pr5jl my suggestion is yiu can go with digital goggles and buy URAV Module to use it as analog if you which and buy receiver of what you want to bind with your multiprotcol receiver , as less than one year started with fpv, the point is analougue is cheaper in every peice game of it and little best performance for those who are professionals , digital is nice and better for biggner but expensive, so if you have dji googles you can transfer to digital whenever you want!!

    • @princevalencia8816
      @princevalencia8816 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kirkdoede2857 “pricey” is subjective. I am aware that you can build an fpv drone half the price with more or less features depending on what you want to do with it. But for the original msrp of $1300 and now currently at $999 in March 2022, it’s a freaking steal imho. I bought my first drone (dji phantom) for $999 many years ago, then upgraded to the Mavic Pro for the same price 5 years ago. When shopping for the DJI PV after just seeing footage, I would’ve thought it would’ve cost more seeing as the new Mavic is $2000. The FPV at $999 was an easy decision. Sold my used Mavic Pro with 4 batteries & accessories to a real estate broker for $600. Lmao. The FPV will only cost me $399 net plus tax. Again, msrp being “pricey” is subjective.

    Thanks for taking the time to post this vid. I am "That Guy" in which you are referring to. This is my first Drone and can see I now will at some point be adding to a collection as I get more involved (addicted) to this realm. I too have experienced 2 crashes, dealt with the DJI repair plan but feel it's a bit less durable than I am. I have found that altitude at the moment is the best cure for working on my manual mode skills (thanks for your display of your control setting for CS, MR and EXPO) and really have little fear in the Sport mode for skimming a foot above any water (awesome footage and sense of speed in that zone). One question I have (sorry if you've already posted some info on this that I have'nt found yet) in regard to your choice of antennae on your goggles. I have found with the stock I am getting quite a distance, a mile plus in open areas or direct line (noticing a big difference in that between early spring with no leaves on the trees vs full foliage) and was under the impression that the 2.4 GZ is better for that due to wavelength. Which ones are those that you have and reason for choosing? Thanks for any reply! Oh, I have found that as painfully docile the additional motion controller I purchased along with that standard game style controller is, I seem to consistently get a better distance even yet from it (the motion controller/pistol grip type I speak of). I looked in the goggle menu to perhaps find some settings that apply to address this but have not found anything.
    Thanks again! Appreciate your Posts!

    Quick note about the heat buildup on an analog drone. you can set vtx to pit mode until armed so you can sit with battery plugged in if needed or after a crash you can disarm to cut power to vtx so you can walk not run to your downed machine.

    I would never have entered the FPV and acro world without the introduction of this DJI product (and Ken’s accessory innovations). 100+ hrs in the sim and perhaps 50+ IRL, and I have been able to integrate cine style into my commercial work.
    I really can’t ask for more from a plug n play product that also offers GPS, barometric, and Vision sensor stabilization when desired.
    Note for Ken: I do most flying slow and at 10-15 degree gopro angle and find I’m picking up some occasional props in the shot (4x3 reelsteady).
    Also, about 10 min battery time doing cine work with hero 8 mounted.

    The DJI FPV drone is my favorite drone that I’ve ever owned. So versatile, as im more of a “flow” cinematic pilot. Can do some tight spaces, but mostly excels in open air, and is probably the best drone for object tracking that I’ve ever touched. My big downsides are price and weight. Price, of course, being a massive turndown and a huge financial burden if you crash, and the weight takes the response time and multiplies it. Regardless, this is my favorite drone that I’ve had , and would 100% recommend for beginner FPV pilots.

    A few things I would like to see them do is a super sport mode that makes the sport mode a little more aggressive with higher speeds and increased ascend and descend profiles for “simulated dives”. I would like to see a camera upgrade more like the avata camera for better footage than the stock camera. The last thing I would like to see is an actual carbon fiber arm kit. From you I would like to see a clamp for the controller that could hold a small tablet like the iPad mini six. Love your stuff and your honest unbiased reviews that we don’t get from the glamtubers.

    I find not only FPV people but groups in general think there special when there really not.
    FPV is a toy a hobby that’s it, nothing special not life changing.
    And if the FPV community really wanted to grow and they do not, they would embrace anything that would help them grow.

    Dammit I know I’m going to have to sell an organ so I can get the cash to buy this drone and the ones about to get released. I’ve never flown with the goggles. That’s what I get excited about being immersed in the flight for the first time. Cool video. Fly safe homie!

    When landing on snow covered runways way up north, Canadians sprinkle dark cinders on the runway to give the human eye some depth perception. I’m afraid featureless white snow is always going to give you problems.
    I have six crashes so far on one of my DJI FPV drones. Weird that I haven’t crashed the other one. Three times it been hard enough to pop the battery out which make finding the drone a little more difficult. The battery and drone have tumbled separately down hard packed field for fifty feet I was going so fast. So far I have flown in many locations in Texas and Thailand. I have a room full of piece built drones six pairs of other goggles, antennae, transmitter boosters, controllers, battery chargers, power supplies, spare parts, screws, glue, testing equipment, soldering irons, bolt on cameras and camera mounts.
    I just don’t go in that room anymore. The dji I wouldn’t use for a thighs drone race course. But for me that is not the only reason to fly a fpv drone.
    I get 5 to 6 minutes per battery if I am just out having fun and 10 minutes if I have trying to film a sequence. I have eight batteries total. I’ve have my first drone for six months.

    many years on and now you can get arm braces and prop guards along with landing gear making it a lot more crash resistant

    @OriginaldoBo or @community do you have any tipps on reducing/removing micro vibrations with a gopro 10 mounted on top? The better quality of gopros is not as usefil when the footage contains vibrations. Currently have new props but crashed it once.

    My dji fpv drone was hovering bout 6 feet in air, and a dog came out of a time portal or from somewhere out of nowhere and jumped up and slammed my drone to concrete... only propellers were lik messed up... it flipped over once also(I put propellers on wrongly🤦‍♂️) and again, only propellers damaged... but for investigating big buildings and relaxed flying and just ease of operation, this drone is nice... it's not necessarily built/shaped the best for acro, but it all around great for beginners, or experienced fpv pilots, just to have fun with... I was up in air and on goggle screen, it said: "manned aircraft approaching" and sure enough, bout 1 to 2 minute later, a passenger aircraft passed over... wen the aircraft left my view, it said in the goggles: "manned aircraft left airspace"... and the RTH has worked 6 out of 6 times that I've used it and landed within 3 feet or less each time... I have 3 batteries and Enjoy an evening of flying from that... I think Sport Mode is the best... thanks for this video also... especially any editing you've dine.. I'm trying editing and it's just not working out for me...lol🤦‍♂️
    L8r to all and to all:Have a great day, week and Life...

    Question: if you remove the gps module, will the drone still fly? No more geofencing? No more return to home I assume also.

    Just picked up the Kona blue GoPro mount! It’s going to look so good with my blue props!
    You’re exactly right, I’ve never flown FPV and now I have general knowledge on how to fly in manual. I really enjoy it and now I want more with a custom built drone. I had someone local make me one and it’s sick, but I have some anxiety related to it. I am so used to being lazy with battery management with DJI and am nervous when it comes to dealing with lipo batteries for this drone. Any tips on that?

    If I am flying in Manual mode and lose signal, what will happen? Will it self stabilize and come back or just fly straight to the ground? Also If I switch from Manual mode to Normal or Sport mode in mid-flip, will it try to stabilize itself or will it drop down? Thank you.

  • @riverbenddrummer
    @riverbenddrummer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had one for a week and thought I was ready for manual mode…nope, In wasn’t, so BestBuy gave me all my money back and I think I’m going back to get another one, but this time I will take it slow before jumping into manual mode, plus I was having a great time in sport mode so I don’t need to be greedy for the higher speeds

    It's an FPV drone with safety built in!
    If it looses remote/video signal, or if the battery is low it comes home and it doesn't crash like traditional FPV drones.

    I was trying to land this drone on grass; I turned it off at about 4 feet, and when it fell, it broke the landing gear and the arm base completely.
    It feels like it should be able to handle a low-speed drop onto relatively soft terrain.
