How are we going to feed ourselves if we are going to sell our farmlands for houses 🤦..... Damnnn!!!!

Say it again, my thoughts exactly. People are so blinded by the desire to make profit that they fail to see the bigger picture... That's why Ghana imports everything including tomatoes and onions. A nation that can't feed itself is to be pitied. What a shame?
What's the point of having shiny new houses but you can't feed yourself?

This is very true but this could be the goal of the power that be. On the other hand one can look at it another way buy land and build your own farm so that you don’t have to expect food from others to feed yourself! That way you don’t have to worry about imports etc….

Rush, Afienya as a town to me is very unplanned. So how about we maintain the little greenery. Let’s remember our folks will collaborate with us to sell EVERYTHING. Even the very air we breathe. That is if they can sell it. I believe we should boldly offer advice to the chiefs and land owners when need be. And desist from being part of the problem. Those mango trees🥭 should be left alone.

Rush; I have been following since you started sharing on TH-cam and I commend you for taking that leap of faith to move to Ghana.
As a Ghanaian who has been exposed to the west and have moved back with some insights on how we can make Ghana better and less “let’s run to the west for help” mentality, the title of your video made me cringe.
Yes; the people are willing to sell the land maybe so they can eat but I bet you they aren’t as hungry now as you think. They are selling these lands because they want more than they need for sustenance.
If we turn Afienya and other farmlands to concrete jungles, we will eventually become the concrete jungles we complain about in the west. Please play this movie forward.
With that said, I still admire you for being in Ghana, especially at your age. You and others like you hold the future of Ghana in your hand so please make moves with Ghana in mind. Peace!

I have a farm. This was just to get people’s attention. I am not going out selling farms in Ghana for developments.
We literally sold about 2 acres of that mango farm and kept over 20.
Thank you very much for the kind words.

@Rush, the title of your video is rather unfortunate.
You should be sad that farmlands are being indiscriminately destroyed and converted into Real estate. Yes people need somewhere to live but we also need to preserve and ring fence farmland.
As a nation, we seem to be selling land indiscriminately just because we are shortsighted and are only interested in making quick profit... That's wrong!!!
People are so blinded by the desire to make profit that they fail to see the bigger picture... That's why Ghana imports everything including tomatoes and onions. A nation that can't feed itself is to be pitied. What a shame?

There are plenty of land available for farming in Ghana. I am not the cause of Ghanaians refusing to farm. Please tell it to the hungry family that is trying to sell their land to feed themselves.

    • @africanmindsetseries
      @africanmindsetseries 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

@@rushasare There's no point being defensive. Just saying you need to think about the title before you post. Whilst you are not the one preventing Ghanaians from farming, you aren't helping either by using language that seems to glorify short term money making over sustainability.
That family that's hungry will remain hungry once they spend the little money they get from selling their land. It's a short term outlook which benefits no one in the long term but that's Ghana for you!!!
If they however keep their farmland and learn to cultivate using more mordern techniques, they can sustain themselves for life...
There's so much to be gained from farming and being self sufficient.
We Africans need a radical change of mindset and stop being so driven by our stomachs.
If we as a people don't change our mindset and think long term, we will continue to be dominated by Europe, US, China etc... The buck stops with us.
You are young and bright, you also have a platform and you can be part of that solution, part of the people who help bring about a change in mindset Rush.
It's not normal that Ghana imports over 90% of its tomatoes, over 80%of its onion, over 90% of cattle, yet we have so much land.. We even import frozen chicken and fish, which are carcinogenic. We even import tooth pick and China is now making Gari to sell back to us. And we are busy celebrating driving imported cars and brag about using imported goods to furnish our homes. We boast about living in luxury homes, when we can't even produce what we consume.
We are to be pitied as a people yet we are not even conscious of our pitiful state. The ignorance is real.
The government are the main problem as they'd rather line their pockets running import cartels themselves, instead of supporting farmers and local production. Again, greed and short term gain are their focus! Sad...
You are right, it isn't your fault but please use your platform to help change mindsets. Every little helps.
      Shalom

You've made my day with your comments. It is crazy. "Turning farmlands into real estates".? No wonder we can't feed ourselves as a nation. Everyone is thinking of their pockets to the detriment of the country. Very scary for our motherland

@@africanmindsetseries May our Ancestors bless you and your generations to come. This is the kind of mindset we need as Ghanaians..sustainabilityy sustainability sustainability. But that's Ghana for you..its all about making money with no regards to our food security or even the environment.

Farm land will become scarce, shooting up the price of food and farmers will be more rich. And then maybe the youth will look into farming and not ¢500/month security job.

Hey Rush, I'm currently working on getting a plot here. The site seeing is tomorrow actually. I'll like to know, do we have to wall it after buying? I was thinking of putting corner pillars and a 25 cubic trip of stones for now. I intend to begin construction in a few months though.
