      I loved my VHT 50CL Pittbull I had. Tighter and more complex tones then any Mesa Dual Rec I've owned. Loved it for the high gain stuff. If I was still playing heavier music, I'd prefer this amp over Mesa, Bogner, etc..such clarity with these VHT Pittbulls (now Fryette) too!

    Great demo. I have a VHT clx that I bought new in 2000. It's never leaving. Nothing sounds like it and it can handle nearly any style of music. One thing, I would suggest you get the master up to around 1-2 o'clock and use the channel volume to control well, the volume. As the master goes up the amp gets clearer and more percussive, vicious and adds bite (I use it as a "bite" control). When not playing you can hear the master kick in around that level, much as when you dial in tone controls.

But I just discovered the Synergy stuff, and to me the SYN2 loaded with the two Fryette modules could be the ultimate GP3, or should I say, GP4+ , with all the updates, 4 channels instead of 3, Deliverance voicing as a bonus (the GP3 was the UltraLead preamp only), IR output (the GP3 line out was rather useless), MIDI control, 1U instead of 2, and what’s even better, S.Fryette designed the SYN2 too, not only the modules, so my guess is that it should just rips! Dave Davidson (Revocation) used one early on. I think it’s on the album ‘Chaos of Forms.’ My friend spotted his exact head for sale in a GC in Boston a few years back.

    Have a Pittbull myself .Tight, tight amp. You don't know what that amp is suppose to sound like until you have the matching cabinet. It's completely different through other cabs. Must try with the matching VHT cab.

    Fryette amps are the best, worth every dollar and beat more expensive amps with ease. I still have my Mesa and Marshall stuff, but Fryette is unique and so flexible.

    I've had a bug to pick up a VHT/Fryette for a while now. Really thinking either the Classic/CLX, an Ultra Lead, or a Sig:X. Especially since no one has really modeled this in all the various modelers out there.

  • @NitroModelsAndComics
    @NitroModelsAndComics 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried the Sig and dug it. I know there are albums I have which have this very amp in them. The Sig seemed effortless to get tones from, but I do dig working for it. Good tones J.

    Hi John, Was it a CLassic version or Ultra Lead ? 50 or 100W ? Did you compare CLX and Ultralead? If yees, is there huge difference in higain sound ? Thx

    Had a relay go bad in my Pittbull Classic that caused a ton of hum; amp still sounded glorious otherwise. Just something to consider if the tubes don't fix the issue :)

    I have the 50 watt version of this but I’m selling it because I’m not playing live and I don’t need 50 watts. Luckily synergy has the two fryette modules. Woo! Anyway I’ve found that trying to sell it locally is almost more hassle than I ever thought. Lol. People don’t understand (or want to understand) that fryette used to be VHT. Oh and luke Hoskin used to play a sig x before he got his splawn.

      For whatever reason they are super difficult to sell. People just dont know how damn incredible they are. Even if you dont need 50 watts, you may be bummed not to own it. Id think twice haha.

    Buckethead used VHT amps for a while too. First time I heard of VHT/Fryette was when I was looking up details on his rig back in the latter half of the 2000s.

    I've been looking for a sig-X for a while. That dry sound characteristic you described is something i find in my engl blackmore as well to some extent. When i first got that thing i basically had to relearn my picking. but the reward is first of all an insanely clear and tight tone and second a lot more control through your guitar's controls and especially your picking hand. Amps like these make you a better guitar player. Unforgiving, but hugely rewarding

    • @ayewhaddupdoe
      @ayewhaddupdoe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own both a Savage Mk2(basically a blackmore with a little more gain and tons more options) and a Pittbull and it's night and day. I actually just sold my Savage because every time I reamp for someone the VHT tracks are what the band ends up picking out of the two. Sell your Engl and come to Team Fryette.

    I played one of these a few years ago when an amp tech I knew at the time showed it to me. I absolutely loved it, I've been using the Axe FX D60 model to record a lot ever since - it's similarly tight, but I wish Fractal would model one of these. I'd love to own the real thing too. I also had a 50/2/50 for years and it's still the best power amp I've ever used.

    This amp only just popped in my head the other day and made me look on ebay for one, very rare though. I played one back in the day at the local music store through a 4x12 fat bottom and i wanted one ever since.
