Hi, just stumbled on your well done comparison. I have collings 12 fret dreads and love them, and 4-5 years ago I did a similr comparison of my DS1 (2008) and DS2h (2007) Your comparison shows that, (in my opinion0 there isn't a significant difference in the tone of the 12 fret and14 fret, just a preference for fretboard size, but the difference between mahogany and EIR is .a little more noticeable. In your video and in my experience the mahogany is more direct and the EIR is more subtle, but neither is better than the other. someone once said that with a hog guitar you hear each string, but with an EIR guitar you hear a chord and I think that is a fair comment.
Frankly you can't go wrong if the guitar has Collings on the headstock!
You have prompted me to do an updated comparison sometime soon! Thanks!

It sounds like you have a great ear! While I do find a tonal difference between a 12 and 14 fret in general, I think you made an excellent assessment. And I agree as well that it doesn't get much better than a Collings! If you do make a comparison vid, I'd love to hear it. Thanks for taking the time to listen
