New Product, How I Apply It

  • Ack’s has a new product they are calling First Step. It is a semi-paste tung oil product that still honors Tom’s determination to produce a finish that is totally non-toxic and food safe.
Tung oil has been used in the orient for centuries to water-proof vessels for all types of food. They also used it to seal and water-proof their boats and sailing ships.
Turners and furniture makers have used tung oil to bring the colors in the wood to life and to replenish some of the moisture in the wood for a long life.
The bowls are 5 1/4” wide and 3 1/8” tall.
Of course these bowls are finished with Ack’s First Step, abrasive paste, and carnauba wax. The only difference between the two bowl is the order I used the abrasive and tung oil.
Thank you for watching. I would greatly appreciate if you would please “Like”, “Subcribe”, and “Comment”. It’s all free and will greatly help the channel grow.

Agreed! I’m going to continue using it before and after the abrasive paste until I decide which way it seems to work best. Looks pretty good both ways so far. Thanks for watching!

Hope you enjoy it! Let me know if you have questions or which order you liked me better. I’ve still not decided which I like best.

Beautiful bowls, Doug. 😊😊 I will get some of the new paste ordered. 👍 keep an eye on the two bowls over time. That may be when the order of operations shows a difference. Maybe not though. 😊

Thanks for watching Copper. I will for sure. Tom originally intended for it to be in the middle. For some reason he used it first when he made his video. Because of that he changed it to the first step. We’re all watching it to see how it goes.

Great video Doug, I’m still using the old formula up. However the formula looks really good.
