Interesting Fact: Zeke the Saber Tooth Tiger was voiced by Jack Black, also the cave drawing of the Mammoths that Manny was looking at was his family, humans killed his family. And in the beginning of the movie, reason why Manny going the wrong way at the edge of the cliff was because that cliff was where his family died and was planning on taking his own life due to depression and sadness.
Sad fact: Diego was originally fated to die, but during screening they found that was "Too sad" for the audience; the 20k years later scene w/ Scrat was supposed to mark the true end as they thought the film would bomb!
It's just like what happened with Trusty in Trusty Lady and the Tramp. When he got hit by the carriage, he was supposed to have been dead. But the director's wife thought it was too sad so he changed that. Which is why it seemed so random.
They actually discovered a sabertoohed squirrel sometime after the release of this film and named it's species after the character (whose named Scrat, btw)
Fun fact: Scrat was an entirely fictional animal when this movie came out. But afterward, a very similar extinct mammal from the mid-cretaceous was discovered!

I like Ice Age. The first film is pretty entertaining and wholesome. I enjoy the characters, including Sid and Scrat and my favorite scene is when our main characters play keep away with the Dodos for the one melon.

Ironically, the original idea and concept of the film was for Diego to die in the first film, but the creators changed their mind because of the children's audience, it would probably make a lot of children cry. the later films wouldn't be the same without Diego being present.
I was smiling and laughing at almost all of the humor, the CG looks a little rough nowadays but good for the time (Blue Sky’s first movie being about prehistoric animals does feel very fitting), the dramatic beats really work, and David Newman’s score is so amazing that I stayed for the credits just to hear the score again. This will always be my favorite Ice Age film, along with the second and third film.

Heres an interesting fact that most people dont realize until they rewatch the movie again!! Later in the movie we see Manny's wife and child die. But if you go back earlier in the film Manny is walking towards the edge of a cliff when sid the sloth runs up asking for help. The question is why was Manny walking towards a cliff when theres nothing there.. unless he was more than likely feeling suicidal from the fact that his family died. Its pretty messed up but when you get older you realize how dark this movie was.
