A lot of this I had heard before from watching you and Ceri for several months, but having it all laid out in one place is wonderful! I learned a lot about the color wheel, which I thought I knew, but when it comes to mixing and coordinating colors, there is so much more that I had never heard before. Checking out the replay. So many questions!! I learned a lot about color in my quilting class when choosing and combining fabric solids and prints but this about mixing and making colors is amazing. I have watched it before (the older videos) but I don't do it enough to remember!! I will save this one, for sure, and I am looking forward to the book. ❤❤❤

Great stream, lots of info. I'm sort of an intermediary printer. Not a total beginner, haven't done tons though it spans over years. Do some, stop, do some more. I'd say I have not even hit that 500 mark yet that you speak of often. Still tons to learn for sure. I'm positive this helped many.

That's what I've been missing, P's explanation of the color wheel! Genius! Or I needed a much more simple explanation, the kind P used when teaching children, lol. I've had a series of mini strokes, too, & have noticed my memory is crap now. Or maybe it's just getting older. Or it just could be a complete intimidation of that damn messy, complicated gel plate. Oh, but I love the prints so. That ebook is going to come in handy for sure. Thank You for doing that, M!

You shouldve said that you need a big drying space to dry them aswell. My kitchen gets totally covered with prints lol
Hello Denise, Yes drying space is a good one... P has it in her notes but we didn't talk about.
Another Stream of consciousness commenting hours after the fact:
1. Paper and Plate Storage: after more than a few oiled papers during storage ... I switched to wax paper over a newly conditioned plate that is being put into a container. I think, heavy emphasis on THINK, it helps to keep it in better shape.
2. Paper Prices in the database under design: Maybe. But if it stays, there will be a date associated with the price. I think a price per sq inch comparision is a valuable resource as you decide which paper to try. It will really show off what's pricey, and how bulk prices work in your favor.
3. I love mixing colors. I'd have been one of those wide-eyed little kids mixing stuff and swatching it the rest of the day, too!!
4: eBook - brills! Does it come with a TIME MACHINE? Years-Ago-Me would like it!
5. Miss Mariah - For your eBook, consider taking the audio from the stream and feeding into one of the transcription services. It'll take LESS editing than the TH-cam transcription will take. And let ChatGPT do that editing for you before you even look at it the first time.

@@PMartistStudio here is one. Had the issue last night…i used 2 different pinks with a stencil. Let dry. Came back with an aqua to pull off. The pink flowers stayed. I tried 4 diff times and those pink flowers refused to come up. So babywiped them off. Never had that happen before

@@patriciarcarmichael1219 thanks to YOU teaching me, i can actually answer that!!!! Liquitex basics, both are opaque and heavy body like butter. Rose pink and light pink.
Q: I have issue with bubbles or air pockets somehow building up underneath and eventually creating a permanent indentation onto my gel plate. How to prevent this?
We talk more about that at the end but storing your plates with paper instead of the acetate they come with will keep them from getting bubbles.

Q: What is mineral oil? where can we buy this? Can Baby Oil be used?
Yes it will work just fine, we aren't crazy about the smell and so we go with the plain mineral oil.
Food grade mineral oil can be purchased at any pharmacy; you can use baby oil.

Blick's own brand of acrylic paint is comparable to Liquitex Basic. They are a nice starter paint, too. They are a little cheaper than Liquitex, too.

Baby oil works as good as mineral oil?
Yes indeed, we just aren't fans of the smell.
@@PMartistStudio we have a brand new grandbaby in the house so the smell is yummy right now🤣.
My 9yr old granddaughter and i cleaned the 2 brayers and the 2 plates last night, then mixed a few colors. She learned blues dry FAST(we are in high desert so the air is hot and dry this time of year=faster dry time)
