  • Is tofu cat litter better than your tradition clay litter? We tried tofu cat litter so you don't have to! I tried to answer questions I think you guys might ask and hopefully it is helpful!
    Also, one thing I forgot to mention is that one 10lb bag lasted us almost 3 weeks for three cats. So for one cat, one 10lb should last you 2+ months.
    TIMESTAMPS:
    2:13 - litter clumping demo
    2:52 - litter dissolving demo
    5:14 - does it track?
    5:24 - is it dust free?
    6:04 - how is the odor control?
    6:40 - does it really dissolve?
    7:22 - does it clump well?
    7:55 - final thoughts

    Quite unusual of me to comment. But just wanted to let you know, I really apreciate your videos. Each time i think about trying a new litter I search for some information and your videos always pop up xD they are really well made, you go through most important points, include the closeups of the litterbox even after it's been used... and trying it for a long enough time to get a good grasp to actually give a truthful review. Big thank you for doing these videos 💜

    WOW wasn't expecting this product to perform that well!! Just wondering if you are able to include kg sizes as well in video or in description as well as if the products are available in Australia or can purchase online from US with links, if possible.
    Loving your reviews, currently going thru all your litter ones atm...first one I watched was the A&H CLUMP & SLIDE review and it saved me from purchasing it after the amount of tracking you had!...I couldn't believe how far it travelled...and the tiny urine tracks...ewwwww!!
    2nd video I watched was the SWHEAT SCOOP review and thought it was SOO cute how Louise lay in the litter tray as it was so soft!!!

    We used to love those tractor supply pine pellet litters. But then we got some cats who had some urinary issues (not because of the litter) and we needed to check clump size to be able to tell how well the cats were peeing so had to switch to something clumping. Lots of cool options out there but with 7 cats (rip Grizzy) we end up with tidy cats in the bucket and use the bucket as the litter genie

    Thank you for all your videos. I've spent too many hours trying to figure out what will work for me and my two cats. One cat seems to be ok with almost everything EXCEPT for Feline Pine unfortunately. I know that's what you wound up using. I started them out with Fresh News Paper Pellets which, on its own does not clump and did not do a good job of odor control. I decided to use my life savings to try Tuft and Paw Really Great Cat Litter. I found it to be excellent but too expensive. In transitioning my cats, I continued to use the Fresh News along with RGCL and actually stuck with the combo, which saves a bit of money and does a pretty good job. Very little tracking, no dust, clumps because of the tofu litter. I add a little zeolite to help with odor control. The problem is that one of my cats scratches the litter box obsessively, sometimes for several minutes and sometimes when she's not even using the box. I can't tell if it's because of the litter. Both of these litters should not be getting stuck in her paws but I thought maybe she was irritated by one of them. I tried adding Dr. Elsey's Clay Ultra but hated how much it stuck to the box and also did not want to use clay litter. The box scratching subsided a little so I thought I could continue to add some softer litter to see if that would help. I went to World's Best Red Bag. Not much better and I really don't like the smell of it. Plus it tracks much more than the other litters. I think I'm going to stick with the combo of Fresh News and RGCL. Just wondering if that's crazy or if people often use a combination of two (or more) litters in one box.

    This review matches my own experience with Tofu Cat Litter [different brand]. It's more comfortable on cat's paws compared to other alternatives. It stays more hygienic and smell free for longer because of its clumping ability. I don't have to sanitize the litter tray as often because if you remove the clumps daily it stays fresh for longer than other alternatives I've tried. It is less expensive than you may think because of this fact. I only flush the clumps and bin the rest of the remaining litter when I sterilize the litter tray, just to be on the safe side regarding the plumbing and found no issues with this approach.

  • @shyhrk

    I used to use tiny pebbles litter (with a filter) + wood pellets (below the filter), so when my cats pee it will not be absorbed by the tiny pebbles (individual pebbles is smaller than dry food) and go through the filter under the pebbles, absorbed by the wood pellets. It is VERY economical and cheap, long as you don't mind washing the pebbles. It was too much work for me, so I changed to mixed bentonite clay litter.
    Clay litter was okay, but its clumps are easily crumble and mixed together with the dry litter. Pee smell still there, not that smelly though, definitely less than using wood pellet.
    Then I tried tofu litter. Oh god it's crazy good, so much better! No pee smell at all, clumps extremely well, not brittle, will not crumbles easily, and somehow it last longer than the clay one (with the same amount).
    The downside is just that it's definitely much more expensive, in my country cost 3-6 times more than clay litters for the same amount (in litre), depending on the brand. But it's just lifechanging for me, because it's so much quicker, easier, and less messy to clean the litter box (I clean after every time I hear my cats uses it). I can easily pause work for 1-2mins to clean it and wash my hands included.
    Using pebbles+woodpellet or clay litters takes WAAAAY more time, especially because they track and are messier to clean. Usually takes 2-5 minutes for these litters.

    I’ve been using tofu litter for the past year and flush it (except when I’m doing a full litter change). It works really well and my cat likes it. My only concern is cost. It’s more expensive than the paper litter I was using previously however definitely worth the extra expense as I don’t get the ammonia smell as often.

      i agree its odor control is amazing....i used expensive clay litter and still cant eliminate the odor...the clumping is also very good and better than clay as there is no dust and the clumped tofu dont crumble like clumped clay.

      Litter, no matter if it's advertised as "flushable", should never be flushed. Septic systems aren't built to filter out the bacteria from cat poop, which can lead to toxoplasmosis in our water. Also, ask any plumber. Clumping litter down your drain is a problem waiting to happen. They congeal and stick to pipes. Do not flush this stuff down, PLEASE.

    • @cattipat
      @cattipat ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YourMajesty143 Toxoplasmosis is not carried by indoor cats. Only outdoor cats and cats who eat a raw diet can carry it. Toxoplasmosis is filtered out by all water treatment plants, as are all harmful forms of bacteria. There's no danger of it contaminating our drinking water. That's according to the CDC. I do agree with you that litter should not be flushed down the toilet or drain, especially if you're a renter. It can damage plumbing and clog pipes.

    I would definitely like to understand how this is made if it's like anything like wood pellets regardless if it's Pine or Hardwood I use hardwood pellets from Menards because I $4.99 for 40 lb that's my price range. I have a cat rescue and at one time we had 27 adults and 21 kittens that were litter box trained I was going through five 40 lb bags a week. I do know that in the wood pellet business that use the same machines for extruded feed like rabbit pellets that are alfalfa pellets horse pellets that are alfalfa pellets it's the same equipment. I would love to understand a little bit more about this product because if it can be a byproduct of the soybean industry that might set the world on fire. I say that literally because of the wood pellet business it's a very fast growing no pun intended business. Thank you for the share and your honest opinion!

    • @smallsushicat

      I finished testing the product so I don’t know if I will give an update unless I test it further or switch over. Let me know if you have specific questions. I did use it for two months so I feel like I may be able to answer. 😬
      I have used corn in the past. Warning, your cats might eat it! It’s safe, but kinda gross. 😅
      Sorry to hear the arm and hammer box didn’t work out! Once in a while one of our cats does miss because the sides are so short, but it hasn’t become a nuisance yet.

    • @SvenandRobbie
      @SvenandRobbie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Wow way to put me on the spot! 😂 JK!
      I actually though about this when we ran out. I kinda missed it. I think I would switch completely if we had one cat. Since we have three cats we go through a lot of litter and it can get expensive.
      Each litter type definitely has its pros and cons. Just depends what will work better for you and your cat. Pine is wallet friendly, easy to clean, and no pee smell, but emptying the saw dust can get messy and poop stays stinky for longer. Tofu you have to scoop a lot more things and is more expensive, but what I really like is the fact that the poop smells gets eliminated pretty fast and it smells nice.
      Hope this helps!

    • @yeraldinasamaniego381
      @yeraldinasamaniego381 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@SvenandRobbie Thank you for the reply! I have four cats and have to use a traditional top entry box. I added legs to the arm and hammer sifting box you use, and I pour all the contents into it then sift that way... very tedious! so I've been flirting with the idea of switching from pine to something less cumbersome. But you're right, I absolutely LOVE pine pellets even with the box system I use. I think I'll stick with it a little while longer :)

    • @SvenandRobbie
      @SvenandRobbie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can slowly add the new litter to the old litter. I like to start with a small layer on top; thin enough layer that you can see some old litter peeping through. Then slowly add in new litter everything you scoop the box. OR you can keep a box of your old litter and add in a box of the new litter to see if they would use it. With the second method, they might never use the new litter though, so beware!

      I hear you. Some of these people dont know what the hell they would do If they actually had to use non clumping litter and empty out the litterbox every week like most of us did back in the day. .Most people are too lazy
