I think what's happened is cheap finance. If you go back to the seventies, you had to be successful (and save money) if you wanted to buy an expensive car and cars reflected that in their taste and build quality: they were assets. Think of cars like the Merc SL. Today, any halfwitted deliveroo driver with poor judgement, who lives with their mum and has a few k in the bank can drive pretty much anything they like. If anything, expensive cars now connote low status.

Harry…I have had an Hybrid Autobiography since mid April and it is the astonishing refinement and near silence that impresses. Then fuel consumption..33-36 mpg effective using the regenerated electric. It is of course, nowhere near in performance but it still is plenty quick enough in real world driving.. The SV is crazily expensive for now but after 15 happy years with LR, I’m pleased and it is best not to listen to the hoards of voices who have never ridden in one let alone owned one. The SV…maybe next time and with the certain big price drop! 🙂🙂🙂🙂

I would have the 2024 Aston Martin DBX with new dashboard and infotainment system for the money, a better badge in my eyes. Yes the Range Rover Sport is great, but it leaves me with four questions: 1. Will I get insured? 2. How often will it break down? 3. How long do i have to wait for it to be fixed with the reported parts shortages? And finally 4. How much is a replacement carbon fibre wheel if I should kerb one?

It’s crazy how these have depreciated from the near 200k price to around 120k already. People may have caught on to the fact that it’s just a Sport with the BMW V8 and a few bits of carbon. It somehow doesn’t feel as special or unique as the 5.0 SVR did. It is nice, just massively overpriced without offering any benefit over, say, an X5M or Cayenne Turbo.

Hit the nail on the head. It's a regular RRS with some carbon and a V8 which sounds muted compared to the last one. Of course this is regulation required, but it just screams tacky compared to the already slightly iffy SVR. I've driven this new SV, and its absolutely not worth paying for compared to a regular Cayenne S in terms of dynamics, quality, and practicality. And I'm far from a Porsche fanboy.

Great video but isn’t it weird that in most car channels the presenter explains how easy or difficult it is to switch off the crazy safety warnings. How is it possible that politicians in the EU think the warning signals are a brilliant idea while in practice they are not?

The warning signal is a wedge, it's a first step in a process that leads to cars that won't break the speed limit.

Harry, just press and hold T button and drag it up and down. It is quicker. You can use it for volume also.

It’s weird how all us ‘car people’ think it is crap but it will sell a boat load in the real world to those with no interest.

Used to hate this kind of thing but now I’m, reluctantly, starting to understand the appeal. Looking forward to Harry’s update on the D300 version as we have a near identical car but are suffering from excessive wind noise above 60 mph. It’s now Back at the dealer (who’ve been very constructive in agreeing and identifying the issue) for replacement door seals which we hope will fix it. Harry mentions how quiet the cabin is which is why we chose the car in first place but I know we are not the only ones with this problem.

Good points - Sounds great. Bad points - Everything else.

I always picture Range Rovers towing a horsebox, with either horses or cattle being towed.
Going to be an exciting ride for them!

Having read a lot of the comments,I can’t believe how many people slag the rr off and suggest that they are unreliable, having had rr,s for the past 20 years and still drive one ,I’ve never been let down ,service by Jlr is key.

Our boss kept his RR for 3 months before swapping it for a Porsche. Out of 3 months it spent more time at the dealership than it did being driven.

Was wanting to see you drive all 3 them up your hill off road 🤠👍
