but if our OC coach is the best current OL coach in the NFL how is he guy under him more important? Its just a title. Our OC can still be the Oline coach.
GREAT information, Swifty! Pleasant is very interesting. A multi-pronged coach of DBs and QBs. Dennis Allen apparently is our dream DC. Nearly every box checked. Having at least one (1) former HC is going to make Coach BJ's life much, much easier. If he gets 2 or more, he will have a ton of experience to lean on. I agree that an OC with a heavy background in the O-line will be extremely beneficial. 🐻🐻🐻🐻⬇⬇⬇⬇
1:00 just because Pleasant has the title of "passing game coordinator" doesn't mean he can't coach or coordinate defense. Hell, in today's league being a subject matter expert in the passing game would be a boon for a defensive coordinator. That person would be able to look at an offensive formation and decipher what they may try from that formation. They would know how to counter that formation effectively. Knowing both sides of the ball is part of the game...
I'm hoping for a DC that has called a defense before. The guy from the Rams has fancy titles. Assistant HC and you're not the DC means absolutely nothing to me. I think we've had our fill of coordinators that haven't called plays
Some these guys are interviewing for other jobs and you don't have to pay them and get Comp picks 😂😂😂 Unless your staff is ready to sign now. You got them spots filled now! You usually let them interview as you look for guys that way if other teams hire them. You don't have to pay them and can even get Comp picks possibly. So I think they are ready to sign people at all those spots. Or, they should be. Our DC we just fired is likely getting the Packers DL job so if you just wait. Don't have to pay him the remaining contract. Thomas Brown is pry gonna get some OC interviews where as he's your Pass Game Coordinator. They do give comp picks later for OC DC hires but idk he was here long enough. So if you got guys ready to sign today. I get it.
I believe this interview with the guy from the rams is likely for the purpose of meeting the Rooney rule, this rule also applies for coordinator positions so the bears must bring in two outside minority candidates to interview for both DC and OC, it’s annoying but this is the process they must go through. Remember they only brought in Eddie George so they fulfill the rule and then proceeded to hire Ben Johnson the next day.
If you look back at head coaches (no matter the sport) who have never done it before there are two things that was the difference between them being successful and them failing. First is having someone who has experience being the head coach no matter what their success is. To that end Allen would be a great pick but Philben could also fill that role. The second thing is keeping at least one guy from the last staff. I think you always need someone who knows the players and where the landmines are. I like Hightower and kind of hope they can keep him because a special teams coach works with most of the players at some point even if it's just in practice. He can be someone who can give Johnson great insight into the backend of the roster guys that might be worthy of keeping.
Agreed the Bears need experienced people. Right now it seems like they're gonna be a people learning on the job. The bears have been through that already
Ben Johnson could bring Hank Fraley with him. That would really give the Lions organization a black eye. I need to find Johnson's first press conference so I can hear him take his swipe at LaFluer about beating him twice a year. lol! Bear Down!!
Wait.... so you're 3 most important hires after the HC is the DC, OC, and STC? The leader of the 3 major phases of the game? NO WAY?! I'm just kidding w the sarcasm my man.. GJ on your vids like always.
I mean if you listen to most people they say QB Coach or OLINE Coach is #1. I don't agree. I mean they are the most important roles but the OPPORTUNITY to hire an OLINE guy as OC coach is the big thing here. And getting an EXPERIENCED DC
I concur, you hit the nail on the head. However, out of all the names mentioned, there is one that I hope is eliminated immediately. That would be Rivera. I believe based on observation over the years. That bringing him in would ser up possible conflict and disruption. He's always been all about Ron.
@@paulharris1664 I just think Saleh was lucky to be placed on teams with crazy talent on defense. Allen is the better DC. Proven top defenses with far less to work with
What about offering the OC position to Aaron Kormer? The offensive line coach of the Bills? We have to wait until the bills get eliminated but maybe that why we haven’t gotten anyone yet. I would love to get those saints guys but we should have heard something by now. And i dont think Fraley is coming over. Looks like he is staying
As a Seminoles Fan: No to Atkins stay away, he didn’t develop any olinemen at FSU. He talked a good game but he had the softest olinemen at FSU, they never got better. Not one recruited lineman developed, we brought in portal lineman all 4 years he was there. They came ready made…🐻⬇️ 🍢🍢🍢🍢🍢
I watched the rams destroy dsrnold Who held the ball to long. But with Donald gone can you name 1 starter in the rams d line? No and they’re better than the bears D line
Dennis Allen is the perfect DC. He’s had 2 swings at HC so a 3rd isn’t likely. He has a very solid rep as a DC and even a top defense
OL coach is still important position to me

Again great job Swifty, look forward to seeing more from you thanks BearDown
OC DC ST must meet Rooney Rule. This is Rooney Rule interview. Hope they hire Dennis Allen.

Aubrey seems like a Rooney rule interview. And once they comply with it. They will hire Dennis Allen
Did they keep the ST coach for right now? If Saints ST coach gets a HC job you pry stay with Hightower.

I think Allen and Fraley would be homeruns for us. Hightower is okay but Rizzi would give even more HC experience.
With Ben calling the Offense plays why do we need a OC? What will a non play calling OC actually do?
I would prefer Chico over Allen, but I wouldn't be mad If we get Allen.

Swifty, who are you wanting to get another contract as far as the players are concerned?
Keenan Allen.
And Kyler Gordon.
How bout Saleh for D.C.
@@paulharris1664 I just think Saleh was lucky to be placed on teams with crazy talent on defense. Allen is the better DC. Proven top defenses with far less to work with
@jleusn i don't think Allen is a bad hire both would work for me .

I heard Fraley is staying in Detroit and Dennis Allen may also be going to Detroit. Since the connection between him and Johnson is Campbell.
Prolly gna hear a lot of things, but we'll find out soon enough
It be better he can fill these coordinates job before all these other teams start filling their HC positions
Any person the Bears hire will have experience. And the person doesn't have to be a former head coach
My favorites are who Ben Johnson hires as I don't know squat.
Don’t Sleep on Jeff Ulbrich. I’d love to see him in Chicago
What's wrong with River Boat Ron?
3:12 He decided to stay in detoilet I guess.
Dennis Allen is are new DC
U spelled chicago wrong 😅
The Chicago-born, Alex Atkins for OL Coach!?
Ron Rivera or Samurai Mike for DC. Greg Olsen for OC. Cortez Hankton WR coach. Garett Riley QB coach.

Why not bring Thomas brown for OC or RB coach
Fraley is out and Hightower is returning
