I need two years of consecutive playoff appearances before i can call this coaching hire a win. Winning press conferences are nice i guess. I want a winner.
I think taking a wait and see approach with the Bears is completely fair...on the field, I'm doing the same myself. I do give them some kudos for actually not biffing the process/communication part though, because they've screwed that up countless times. How many times have we seen them coming out of press conferences looking like tone deaf clowns or awkward and unprepared? At least for this week, it's been a refreshing change from that perspective.
@@albertmckennie4282 What a jackass response. Who is "jumping up and down?" You don't get to make up what "real bears fans" get to celebrate or not celebrate. My family and myself have been Bears season ticket holders for almost 50 years .. I'm more of a "real" Bears fan than you'll ever be...the only thing we know about you is you can barely write in coherent sentences. Jackass.
Johnson's answers were impressive because every answer he gave was prepared. This was not a press conference really. It was more of a job interview. So we'll see how he is after a bad loss or a team shakeup.
Jahns: They actually did need to interview all those candidates. Imagine if they had to play the waiting game until after the Super Bowl for Ben Johnson. In the meantime, other teams could have hired the Bears #2,3,4 top candidates. in that scenario, what if another team held out for Ben and he chose to go there over the Bears? Those interviews were for worst case scenario as well as just intel on guys and their potential staffs and connections and such too. I also understand that through "back channels" that Ben's people could have told the Bears that he wanted/would take the job, but Poles and company also saw Ben back out on Washington last year. Glad it ended up how it played out, but kudos on the Bears for actually being prepared for the worst case scenario in the hire.
John’s I think the only reason why they had all those people is because they probably thought Detroit was gonna be playing in the Super Bowl so they had to waste some time doing something and they probably just wanted to pick other peoples brains. I think the whole time they just didn’t know if he was gonna be available that fast.
Matt Nagy is still coasting off the work of Andy Reid Edit: in regards to Eberflus’ Justin Fields rules I also remember how nobody told Eberflus, directly to his face, how fucking stupid that is
This franchise is the beginning of the NFL! Hales built it on tough hard nosed defense. There is no way you win close games without making a stop on defense to get the ball back to the offense. The Bears have been soft ever since Lovie Smith left! It’s not because Lovie left its because of the coach’s the Bears have hired ever since he was let go. I want our toughness back. The reason offenses look clunky is because 95% of the time the quarterback is out of rhythm. So Ben has to get Caleb on time with his decision making.
I can not wait for the NFL draft. Ben helping on draft picks instead of Flus might do miracles for this team. Time will tell.
Amen I don’t think that’s been talked about enough. Excited to see what types they go after. And what Johnson can do with development of these players
Flus was a few better decisions away from being a good coach. Our defense was awesome with him
Awesome hire Bears! Johnson deserves the hype and excitement. Great show gents
I’m very very happy😊. This Coach is special you can feel it

love the pod
Long time Bears fan (early 1960’s), I am hyped for the 2025 season, and for an offense that will finally let it rip.

I loved Jed!!! Lol 😂
Round 1: DL...unless unsuspected OL falls.
Round 2: Oline
After that RB, S, WR
Go Cubs ...Spring ball baby !!!!!!
Great show! When you make it down to Dallas bring your clubs.
The 3 biggest needs for the Bears: OL, DL, and RB. The 3 best/deepest position groups in the ‘25 draft: OL, DL, and RB. Let’s go!!!!
I’m just here for the jud buechler jokes
Wake me up when we are in the playoffs
Always a good day on Hoge & Jahns when the FishDad joins.

Coach Johnson made statements with meat on the bone. Not the usual vague cliches with little substance.
26:07 Jared Goff is definitely better than average lol 😂 he took a team to a superbowl……oh Kevin

Comparing press conferences of previous hires seems like a fruitless and irrelevant exercise.
How will, Ben Johnson affect hiring of free agents.
It makes it a very attractive job for any offensive lineman, especially guys who want to be coached by the best.
500 yards 31 points but it was on BJ for the loss F the lions
A lot of Matt Nagy-bashing on this episode.
