- From its origins on the N64 to its most recent installment on the Switch with Mario Party Superstars, the Mario Party series has had many ups and downs. However, the most interesting and noteworthy release has to be Mario Party Advance. I mean, it was the first portable Mario Party, the first Mario Party on a Gameboy, the first Mario Party to not feature Wario. It’s also apparently just the WORST with it holding a world record for being the worst rated Mario game of all time. But, is it really that bad…?

I really need to remember to not play this more often
Ngl I still really liked a few minigames and the interactions between some of the characters (we don't often get original Mario characters like that anymore). It was really cool hearing classic Mario Party music in a GBA soundfont too.
Yeah, during the GameCube/GBA era Nintendo was very creative with their first party games, and this game is definitely proof. Seeing as the days of local in-house multiplayer are long gone, Mario Party Advance feels more unique now compared to the others due to its heavy singleplayer focus.

They could've stick with the original formula of Mario Party on the N64
I totally agree, it's sad how much hate the game got. I remember it being a really fun 1P-experience, and even the physical board game was fun. I remember finding some really cool and more complex game boards online that we printed out and played back in the day. It was definitively a very creative game and I really enjoyed it.
A Mario party without Wario isn’t one should exist.

Hello! i have a question who is baby yoshi in the egg in Yoshi’s island DS at the very end of the cut scene in the very end of the game because their is a green yoshi that carry’s baby mario in the first part of the game and i would like some answers please because i wanna know. :)
OMG- i never knew this game had such a Bad reputation LOOOL i-- i LOVE THIS GAME-! and i still have/play it. the gadgets are LIT btw, you can’t change my mind ;)

Yeah I never knew either, the story mode makes it one of my favorite Mario Party games. Didn't know people disliked it so much.

I mean, the gameplay is not as engaging as it could be, but it has so much charm and characters, and is so colorful!
I learned a lot of the Mario's cast names through this game, because there's so many, like, are we gonna really sit here and pretend this is worst than Mario Pinball?

You should cover Mario Party DS.
It had its issues, but it was a huge step of from Advance.
The gadgets remind me more of the souvenirs that you get in warioware:twisted tbh

I remember playing this game when it was new and there are two main things about it that stuck out to me. Yeah, I loved some of the quests, especially the Shroomlock mysteries. Secondly...I often associate this game with the band The Tea Party because I got this game when it was new which was also around the time I got my first portable CD player and I was listening to a lot of The Tea Party when I played it.
So like...something about this game gets Heaven Coming Down or Stargazer stuck in my head. Not a complaint, just...kind of a weird combnation of things XD
I liked this game as a kid. Nowhere near as good as real Mario Party, but a fun time waster. They gave out bookmarks of this game when I was in elementary school.
