This is the area of UK where my father grew up. Been through the tunnel, in the cab, in 1964 when we visited.
Sounds good did your father work on the railway ?
What are the purpose of these test trains?
Thanks for viewing . Test trains are testing the rail head for cracks and other damage making sure its true and level also checking signals and overhead wires .
Great video mate :) Nice mixture of test trains, the 31's, 37's and 67's are my favourite!
Thanks for viewing rare to see a 31 on a test train now a day's
Have you got any video of the inspection train with the blue light for inspecting the overhead lines?
Thanks for viewing . Sorry no i do not have any video of test trains on overhead line test .
Great video! 13:46, Is that a, an Electrified HST, and b, a Mk2F coach with a pantograph? Is this for measuring and testing OHLE?
Thanks for viewing . The train is diesel with 2 class 43 power cars .The coach with the pantograph is used to test the overhead wires i have never seen it do it before .
what class is 9703 based on? can't find it anywhere.
Thanks for viewing . Sorry not sure if i can find out i will let you know
The class 9703 isn't a physical class of train, it is a one of only a few DBSO's, try searching DBSO's and you should get more results
Not a train guy really but why do they run test trains?
Many thanks for viewing . There are many reasons why there are test trains they test the rail it self check signals the gap from the train to the platform also the check the points the general state of the railway . Some test trains have a camera on the front and down at the wheels to look at rail as the train moves .
