- Welcome to the first episode of The Locals! Today I am at Bristol Temple Meads on the Great Western Main Line where services are seen by Great Western Railway, CrossCountry and South Western Railway.
It was fantastic to re-visit this brilliant station, the station has in more recent time lacked the variety it once had due to changes in traction as HSTs continue to phase out and Sprinters moving more South. However, for this session it seemed that was all irrelevant for a second as loads of different things showed up and for a Sunday, this station is absolutely exceptional as different services operate, diverts happened and things are booked differently in terms of traction. The sun was out as well, it was a scorching day and because this was the only station I filmed on this day, it was nice to chill out a bit more. I really enjoyed my visit here to Temple Meads, this one in particular was brilliant.

@@KTVTransport its okay
Great video keep uploading great videos like this one
Think you need to watch first...
No I really enjoyed it
I have a recommendation for you when you go to Severn Tunnel Junction. If you can, try to get there before 09:00 to catch the Cardiff to Penzance service, it would be impressive to see a service that long
I literally danced when I saw a great western railway HST
Good video and happy birthday
Amazing video (fun fact: this is my local station and I have had some privileged sights here including a freight service and the torbay express)
Thank you! There's a lot of pretty amazing things that can be seen at Temple Meads. 😀
Station always aims to please and it sure delivers. I’ve also started calling all Great Western Railway IEP’s ‘The Nishi Express’. Reason being that “Nishi’ means ‘West’ in Japanese like LNER names their 800’s and 801’s ‘Azuma’.
Interesting name for them, never thought of it like that.
KTV Videos I believed they deserved something more ‘unique’
Also, Severn Beach is served about every two hours, although there is a slightly more frequent service in the peaks. For example, trains leave Bristol at 05 14, 06 30 and 07 04 in the morning and at 17 13 and 18 03 in the evening
That is correct!
Awesome Video Bud :)
Great video ktv videos
Thanks!
@@KTVTransport your welcome
SWR travel twice daily from Bristol to Waterloo, at both 8:51 and 12:51. However, there is also a service to Salisbury at 22:23
That's incorrect, there is another Waterloo service.
Greatvideo
Thanks bud!
Interesting seeing an 800 on a penzance duty.
Good video
Awesome catches my friend! I notice there are these little signs that have "25" on them, do you know what those are? Also these are some long platforms, the ones we have for the MARTA train system in Atlanta are about 600ft in length.
The little signs that say “25” indicate that Trains can only go 25mph when the rear of the train passes the sign
Love the angle at 11:52
Can you do London Marylebone
I will be doing Marylebone again.
10 services to Waterloo? Severn beach trains are hour in each direction?
One going in 30 minutes another for 30 minutes
first thing I thought when I saw that building was LNR haha
Yes hahahaha
How often do trains to Worcester run from Bristol
Bristol is my city
SWR from Bristol to London Waterloo is it 8
Nope.
DUDE IM IN THAT VOYAGER 0:00
Were you? 😂
@@KTVTransport Yep
@@KTVTransport ye
also when i came off it apparently broke down @ktv videos
kyle goppy lol
Sorry if I missed you saying it but, why were the Portsmouth services terminating at Bristol? Also what day did you film.
Well read description and Ik you filmed on Sunday so forget that question
They were terminating at Bristol Parkway due to the fact the Severn Tunnel was being worked on across the Easter weekend. 😊
When are they going
Can u please do a journey video of bath spa to cardiff can u also go to Paddington I'd love to see a 387@bristol
Class 387’s are unable to run in Bristol as the 387 runs on 25kv AC overhead lines and 750v DC third rail. Bristol so far is only served by Diesel’s and Bi-mode trains.
It needs electrification. Bristol Temple Meads is the largest station on gwr
In answer to the questions. Three and on average every two hours
Correct on both occasions. 😀
How frequent are the passing services here?
Well usually it happens if GWR send the sleeper through Temple Meads.
2 swt services from bristol to london waterloo
Incorrect I'm afraid.
Can u do east Croydon
I can certainly look into it at some stage.
Do you live in bristol?
No, I live in Plymouth
!!
