I grew out of trains when i was about 14, but man, this vid really takes me back. I love all the smart colourful liveries before privatisation, and the interesting locos.

And I thought Waterloo to Exeter was something, Now this is something else, three hours of total brilliant filming, you have caught so much of era, don’t where to start, the locations, inferstructure, branch lines, liverys of Locos/rolling stock, could go on and on, the stuff along the sea walls at Dawlish etc, raining / night shots, Steam specials plus loco hauled,/mail trains, It’s all history now. You’re got some of the best recordings I’ve ever seen, an era now gone, I can’t believe how much time you spent on seeking out all the locations & timings to film, how on earth did you get all the information on the timings/numbers & know all the destinations! was your wife along to assist! Regards Eddie🤓

Very nicely filmed video, makes a change from the normal hand held shaky cam video that makes up so much of TH-cam! Did not get down to west country very often in the 90s but I do remember photographing the class 20 and 37 specials to Exeter at Creech St Michael in 1994. Great memories, just a bit sad to see how much has been lost in the intervening years.

Loving your work. Great memories. Used to stand on the platform at Highbridge and play chicken with the freight services as they swung towards you onto the down line to enter the passing loop!
It's a shame all the loco hauled cross country services have been replaced by those horrible cramped Voyagers, especially as TPEx has gone bsck to hauled coaching stock.

Hi Pete, yes all personal shots taken by myself. I decided to tackle the whole GWR as a project and sell it via VHS in the 1990s

GWR yam yam Many thanks for taking the time and generosity to share this all on TH-cam. Brilliant record of the West Country in the mid-1990s.
