We were fortunate to be at the premier of this Ring Cycle at the Met. It was absolutely amazing and beautiful.

I watched the full cycle of this production on PBS. It was tremendous! I would LOVE to see it in person!

Love it or hate it - kudos to Robert Lepage for his vision. Way ahead of his time!

say what you will about this production, and i know most will, but the last 10 minutes of this production were some of the most stunning i've ever sat through in my life. the actual descent into valhalla is breathtaking and strangely moving, i've found. it still easily leaves me reduced to tears

I never liked the Ring Cycle until I saw the Met’s production of all 4 operas. This is the only Ring Cycle I will watch.

Shocking. I thought he did an excellent job with Loge, his voice really suited the character in my opinion.

Rheingold is always good, often great. I've sung both Fasolt and Fafner. Trust me, audiences love it. This one has superb giants, a magnificent Alberich (the critical role) and the Croft brothers. The Erda and Freia are likewise excellent. Terfel alone is disappointing. Maybe it's just the contrast with Owens. I'm told that Richard Croft (loge) was booed at the Met. I don't understand that. He's very good. He's a well respected Mozart tenor. Maybe he needs more voice for that big hall?

This is a very late response: He wasn't booed. On opening night though, the set malfunctioned, and when you combine that with people who were particularly loyal to Otto Schenk, they were booing after it went dark after what appeared to be a lackluster ending since the actors merely walked off stage, which they were forced to do thanks to the malfunctioning set. When it worked afterward though, it was all applause. I listened to opening night on the radio, and it was the most astounding mix of hate-filled boos and thunderous applause.

This trailer does not do this production justice!

Can I watch this online? _The Ring_ requires Hollywood style scenography. Like _Lord of the Rings._

Wagner would have loved this if it was just a little more impressive.

the descent into Nibelheim is the only good thing about a terribly banal 14-hour show

@@samueljaramillo4221 obbiously this show is terrible … i love Wagner, that’s the reason i hate this production without any art.
Four stunning operas directed just by some giant rolling popsicle sticks.
Sorry i forgot to say that orchestra, singers and conduction are great!

Despite this trailer, the production was God-Awful. It was justifiably universally panned. Loge's costume and flickering effects were outright laughable.

Personally I would love a new HD production with a traditional staging similar to what we got with the classic Otto Scheck production.

Although this is so far the only production I have seen, it was good. I love the way the decor was done. The cast was good in there roles. I have heard some other singers in the role of Alberich, but Eric Owens gave the character more evil. Okay, the costume of Loge looked like he escaped the asylum or went to a bondage party the night before. But the rest of the costumes where great.

We were at the premier and it was amazing. It was not panned. The audience loved it.
