    awesome job! in regards to the possum (because that’s where i just paused haha) I think you should keep the price as is IF it would make you lose money to lower it… at my markets people LOVE my chickens but sometimes the don’t sell and at other markets I sell over half of them for the same price! ok sorry that’s just my two cents lol

    I just started this year too and I’m so nervous to try a market! Everyone says the market is over saturated ): idk what market to sign up for to give myself the best chance

    • @CluckandBuzzCrochet
      @CluckandBuzzCrochet  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Ally! Okay, so I will honestly say that the market IS over-saturated with crochet plushie makers, BUT don’t let that deter you from trying out a market! I think the key is to sign up early and find markets that do a good job finding a variety of vendors. (I had two markets where the people running it were just interested in filling their booths and didn’t care that there were 6 crochet vendors at a market with under 50 booths 🫠). So when you apply, ASK questions (Do you already have any crocheters signed up? do you limit the amount of same-type vendors? have you hosted this market before? what is the usual attendance at this market? etc). This really helps with making sure you can sell your inventory and have success at markets!

  • @NightOwlMisfits
    @NightOwlMisfits 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Sounds like you did really well. Your plushies are beautiful. All the items that you think you could raise your prices, I definitely would. I've seen much smaller pieces selling for more. Also the detail you get with blanket yarn is amazing! I've seen very chunky plushies out there with #6 yarns so, yeah, raise those prices - what you've created are definitely worth it! I know price is a huge variable between makers - especially if you're at a market and it feels like you're competing with other crocheters - so it seems to always be a guessing game as how much to charge. I go through the same thing and it's so annoying.

    • @CluckandBuzzCrochet
      @CluckandBuzzCrochet  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NightOwlMisfits thank you for your feedback and suggestions! Pricing is definitely something I’m still learning how to do. It’s hard because I’m not the fastest crocheter, so I feel like if I used the method, my prices would be way too high 😂. It’s helpful for me to walk around and compare with other people at shows so I know what their similar sized items are priced.

    • @NightOwlMisfits
      @NightOwlMisfits 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CluckandBuzzCrochet Gotcha. Same boat here. Not the fastest but have been doing it for many years. It pains me to see other makers dropping their prices to the point where I feel overpriced. It's a balancing game for sure.

      I’m sorry your first market was a bust 😩 my realist nine-year-old was quick to remind me that “Mom, next time you might just sell two.” Haha 😂
      I think a lot of sales outcome depends on the event. Mine was outside in a small town square with great foot traffic. We were under a large oak tree with lots of shade and a bench seat, and the Lord was gracious enough to hold off the nasty heat til the last hour of the market.
      I would recommend not having TOO many one-off items, and instead make multiples of fewer options. It makes your booth look clean and neat, and not overwhelming for people. I watched a TON of TH-cam videos to see what other people had success selling.
      Don’t give up! Just gotta jump in again and find what works ♥️ Good luck to you and thank you for sharing your experience 🙂

    Hey, I'm wanting to do some markets this fall. I'm concerned about the retail sales tax info needed as well as choosing some type of pymt method. What do you suggest, Venmo, square, etc. Did you need insurance at your booth?

    • @CluckandBuzzCrochet
      @CluckandBuzzCrochet  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Hutch! I am sorry I’m just now getting back to you- I honestly am so bad when it comes to this part of sales that I wasn’t sure how to answer 😂
      You do not need insurance for your booth. 2 of my 5 markets (at the same location) did hand out tax info in an envelope, but my other three did not.
      I accept three methods of payment: Venmo, Cash, and Square (for tap or credit cards). I of course prefer people use Venmo or cash since Square takes a small percentage of your sales, but having a Square reader is a MUST!! So many people use a card to make purchases. I have had some people who want to use Apple Pay, but I have convinced them to use Venmo instead.

    i think the carrot may be the wrong color for people. it looks to pink-ish/coral for carrot; they're never really shown in different colors and i think are not as easily recognizable to be a carrot if they're on their own. also i think the big hamster needs an embroidered mouth. good luck for your next market!

      Thank you for your feedback! I agree with you on the carrot. I think it’s obvious what he is because he’s in the fruits and veggies basket in my display, but the color is definitely not carrot orange 😂 I was having trouble finding orange yarn at the store!

    When did you start selling? When did you know your items were "sellable" i guess i am more of a wearables crocheter but everyone tells me to sell but i never feel good enough

    • @CluckandBuzzCrochet
      @CluckandBuzzCrochet  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      So, I started crocheting back in March I believe, and immediately became obsessed. By April, I put a couple pictures on my personal Facebook asking if there would be any interest in my chickens. I sold 10 or so to family and friends,, and once that happened, I expanded to making bees and octos, opened up an Etsy, and signed up for my first market! I honestly think you just have to jump in and do it. If you wait until you think things are "perfect" you may never do it. We are our own worst critics! My advice is sign up a couple months early for an event, give yourself time and a goal, and do it. I think wearables are super popular! Especially those bikini type tops that you can wear to summer festivals and stuff. Good luck!!
