Dear Mr Peter Finn My wife has Rod knock bearing sound to 3SF Engine, how long can engine last with this Rod knock sound if engine or car driven gently and carefully ?
Sort of specific but…Can excessive connecting rod bearing damage cause an internal engine oil leak allowing oil through the piston o ring wetting the spark plug?
@@PeterFinnTheCarDoctor thanks. I was curious if the 2 were related. Kia won’t replace engine unless it’s excessive rod bearing damage. I am specifically having oil leak coming through piston O rings. Wetting my spark plugs and causing me to sputter. My mechanic recommended a rebuild for this internal engine malfunction
@@Beans4Prez it's possible a broken spark plug ring gasket is wetting your plugs, it's connected with the valve cover gasket as one piece. Had to do this on my sonata 2.0t
*i have a 2013 hyundai genesis coupe 2.0t i was goinf to replace the connecting rod bearings but the original ones that came off my connecting rod don't have a hole jn the middle and the ones i purchase do. What do i do can i still put the bearings in?*
I replaced my connecting rod bearings in my 2001 Jeep straight 6 thats a 4.0 litre with 330,000 miles on it. I've been the only owner and have always put in good quality synthetic oil. The bearings had no real scratches in them but some dirt got past my air filter and into the engine so I started hearing engine knocking. The engine still has good power but because of the knocking I decided to replace my main and rod bearings which I just finished. The journals looked good so I did not polish them. The old bearings also looked good and I compared them against the new bearings with a caliper but could not decern any difference in thickness between the old and new bearings. I know a dial gauge would have been more accurate but I did not have one. My question is: If the old rod bearings look good can they still be worn out?
Hey. Old parts may be worn and that's why you should use this bearing clearance test. Works 100%. Watch the video: th-cam.com/video/QpzkP5wLigM/w-d-xo.html
Howdy. I have a new-to-me 1998 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4, automatic, 3.3L VG33E 4th VIN digit "A" motor, made 10/1997. It has one or more bad piston wrist pins, and a confirmed bad crankshaft due to excessive bearing failures from oil loss. Does anyone know if the pistons in a 1996-2004 Pathfinders, QX4, Frontier, or Xterras can be removed and reinstalled through the bottom of the motor (oil pan), with the motor still installed? I also have a bad crank so I have to have it removed and machined too. The rest of the motor is clean, no oil burning, and low miles (165,000). I hate to swap it for an unknown possible problem motor if I can do it this way instead. I haven't been able to find anyone online who has accomplished this, but maybe it's not possible due to clearance or whatever. Do ya know, or take a guess, if ya been under one of these models with the oil pan off and crank out? Thanks much!
its obvious that you made these scratches yourself for the video purpose lol , they would never look like that caused by the crankshaft ;) but some what usuefull info for a rockie
Excellent explanation Peter!
Many thanks!👍😀👍
can i do this from underneath the car instead of taking the engine out?
Normally take out
Thanks for the explanation!
Glad it was helpful!

This oil comes from between the piston rings or between the valve rods

Only way your spark plugs will get wet
Blow by worn piston rings
Valve stems are hard or broken valve guides

Yes
How can a cat 🐈⬛ get inside the crankcase and scratch that bearing? 🤣😂😂

Will it be good like 90% or 80% to just tighten them up and not replace them? I know it will be good to just replace them after taking them out though
No, you need new bearings. Just tighten don't fix the issue.
