i know the exact channel and thought the same thing lol a brother named MG the future did a live walkthrough and I was sold. Great review too Supa Mario
Awesome video my guy. I bought this VST a few days ago. I haven’t got to my computer to bang out some beats yet, but RX1200 is certified winner. Best drum VST plugin out there
Eeey, once you get that time and get 1on1 with it… you’re going to like it and appreciate it. It really has a good ol’ school learning curve to it, to say it’s a VST.
Plugin of the year so far for me! Btw, I'd definitely mess with the channel polyphony settings.. 32 tracks into 8 outputs needs some housekeeping...you can route different pads to the same OUT to choke your chops and hihats etc... up the polyphony to layer snares and claps. Also render out your bassline and stick it in the RX. Modo bass sounds fat in this bad boy!
From what ive seen on youtubes the Chromatic Mode is a pain to set up .Did you get the Chromatic mode to work , then how? on my real Sp1200 its just a push of button , same for Multi Mode ( multi velocity )
Have you tried the eSPi Low Hiss Systems version of the SP1200 . I found your video looking for info about eSPi. The eSPi1200 has a 3D view mode . Does this have that also? Low Hiss has a demo mode so you can try before you buy for free. Thanks for info about this . Looking forward to all your other content,
I tried eSPI in their earlier development stage when they first came out in beta and didn’t like the way it “worked” seem like it was a lot of difficulty.
Ain’t nothing like the real thing… but This plugin is made for the ppl that enjoy there investment in their house (or their property) I’m one of them !! 😆😆
I’m trying to learn how to use Ableton live lite with my MacBook Pro & I’m getting the New Akai MPC plus this Friday & before I decide to buy the SP-1200 VST plugin can you please… listen to the kicks & Snares on the following songs that was done on the SP-1200? #1 The Warning by Notorious Big Produced by Easy Mo Bee #2The Message by Dr.Dre Produced by Lord Finesse #3 Friend by KRS One Produced by Show & # 4 Get Down by Craig Mack who was also produced by Easy Mo Bee. As a Bronx New Yorker those are the specific kicks & Snares that I like & I need to know if those snares & kicks on on that plugin & if I can assign them to my MPC pads using Ableton?
I listen and you can recreate those sounds plugins, or simple eq and compression & saturation on the MPC. Thats a tuff choice, if you are used to making beats with hardware, MPC, if you used to making beats with DAW's RX 1200. It all depends, IMO, if you want to TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW! (However) I would highly recommend the MPC. This is a PLUGIN.... and even the comparison is damn near 1:1... It still doesn't beat the feel and sound of hardware. BUt it depends on workflow and the fact that you like to operate and create hands-on, on a physical product. I believe, you can assign midi to work with your pad controller with this plugin, I have a 25key Novation Launchkey Mk3 and work on pads and keys. Keep that in mind my guy! Happy findings and good luck with the new MPC! 🙏🏽
@@SupaMarioJCS Thanks for responding I will also be using my Roland JV-1080 that I have fully loaded with 4 expansion boards along with the free VST plugin called Spitfire Labs which has some good vintage Keys 🎹 fender Rhodes sounds
My man, what's good. A listen, I got the rx1200 and I'm trying to run in DAW MPC STUDIO but having trouble to get it to download in it or drag and drop. Can u help, thanks bro
I would make sure that your VST paths are in your DAW is in conjunction on where you direct the installation directory path when installing 👍🏽 good luck bossman!
I tried dragging and dropping sample into the RX1200 but the VST kept disappearing from the screen. What am I doing wrong? I'm using the MPCX in controller mode. Thanks.
I think the point in owning hardware is more the limitations and the feel rather than the sound it makes (hardware), because soundwise no one will tell the difference in the mix if its done on pc or hardware but groove an rytm. Doesnt mean u cant do it on the pc tho, you do you in the end its preferation
You still have to manipulate the drums and everything else like in any software, because you had to manipulate the SP 1200 even though it's classy grit came easier 💪🏿💪🏿👍🏿
Lol that’s funny you say bossman, it’s somewhat true… but you didn’t watch the video in full because this plugin just doesn’t play “their” (Inphonik) default sounds …but you are forgetting it’s software, it’s not hardware and I never ever seen a plugin (instrument or effect) be the same as the actual hardware you can’t recreate something and expect to be 1:1; but this plugin comes close to the real thing than most big name companies that tried to emulate the SP1200 …if you haven’t played in the trash, how do you know it stanks? 🤷🏽♂️ appreciate the input bossman!
I can’t remember if they gave you an option to change the directory in the installation process… but what I can tell you is if you use you own samples from an external HD and the disk letter of the external changes and can’t read the samples used from the past… those samples will not play/load and the RX1200 will not give you an option to help find them 👍🏽
Do it the Old School way. That's what RX1200 is all about. Trigger two (or more) pads at the same time. Fortunately Inphonik made the individual outputs not only monophonic like the original SP1200, but also polyphonic. That means you can route the two (or more) pads to the same output and process (EQ, compression, etc.) the combined sound in your DAW's channel. An advantage of this, compared to multiple layers on one pad, is that each pad can have different settings for tune, decay, mix, filter etc. A disadvantage of this is that you have to use another two (or more) pads if you want to be able to cut off those first pads (like mute/choke groups).
2 major problems with this plugin.... No Multi Mode a.k.a. multi pitch mode for a single pad. Like the E-MU SP1200. #2 The SP1200's simple but funky sequencer with it's various but Distinct Swing %. I think it's a cool plugin but I now own an Isla S2400. That has all the actual features of the SP1200. It also sounds spot on.
I prefer the sonics of hardware because of the converters used on old 90s hardware. I own and still use some vintage E-MU sound modules still to this day with my modern setup that have that analog warmth to them esp the drums. By the way one of my homies said he worked with you back in the early 2000s at BadBoy. You may have remembered that late 90s male R&B group Dark Blu put together by Gerald Levert. One of the singers of the group G. Low as my first Artist back in 2008 said he remembered being in the studio with you. Puff Co-Produced Leave it Alone with Mario Winans. The group just recently reunited a few years ago as Damon Parker, Pretty Nick, Thomas, G. Low and J.R all back together now. I suppose to working on some new records with them.
Yes..we don't use 12bit interfaces anymore..so I guess only the library is sampled at 12Bit ..the software itself depends the output from sound interfaces
Hard to understand why anyone would buy or use this plugin. Why use a sampler inside ableton, one of the best samplers/editors on earth. You can do all the bit reduction and lofi simulation you could ever desire right in the DAW. they’re just trying to cash in on the classic sampler with this.
You right to a certain sense… But everyone has different workflows and taste, a lot of ppl may not like the sound of certain bit reduction plugins and lofi sim’s… So if one plugin (bit reduction or lofi sim VST/AU) does not offer a demo and you are forced to “try” plugins at 30 - 50 bucks each, then you wasting money… Same scenario when you mention companies trying to cash out. That’s the world we live and investing in your craft is passion for what you really love doing you don’t mind trying new things; is what it is and… But To answer your question… The same reasons why ppl buy/collect Jordan’s shoes each version of the shoe means something to someone during that era my guy! Different strokes, different folks! Thanks for the insight!! 👍🏽
Whether you can recreate the typical SP1200 aliasing with the usual bit crushing, sample rate reduction and lofi plugins is debatable. And like Mario said, to each his own. Some people will like this Old School way of working, other won't. One thing's for sure, RX1200 will give you appreciation (probably even more than you already have) for the producers of the late Eighties and Nineties that made all those classic records with the SP1200. They made beats with machines that required a lot of creative thinking that most people nowadays with all the advanced and userfriendly gear won't be able to make.
