The part I love the most is where Tom says to Jimmy: "I would have paid ten times as much if I had any sense that they would actually stick to the deal." Jimmy's reaction is great because he basically has to concede that Tom was one hundred percent correct and he accurately assessed the situation. Jimmy was going to kill the kid and by taking the course he did, Tom saved his life. For all his talk of privilege, Jimmy got genuinely outplayed.

Knowing you're a mother, I know this must've been a hard watch for you guys. My mom saw this in theaters and said to me, "The inhumane things I would do to a person if I knew they could harm you and I couldn't protect you. That's between me and God, and I'll stand behind it before him." The depths of Hell a parent will go through for their child is unimaginable.

I remember watching this movie so long ago, before I was a dad. I thought it was pretty intense back then, I can't imagine what it would be like once you are a parent. I felt so bad for you guys, there were points when you looked emotionally gutted. Good reaction !
I am a Daughter Dad of two young women. That scenario played in my head. I taught them situational awareness and to look for an exit. Luckily, cars now are equipped with the trunk latches in the trunk. I taught them how to shoot and to use basic escape techniques, wrist locks, and joint manipulation. Also, to look for anything that can be used as a weapon. The trick is to move forward and not to trap yourself in a corner. Pray to God to help you get out of that situation. I was in the Marine Corps from 03 to 07. I was in the infantry and saw combat. I am more fearful for them than myself. This movie shows how man's hearts are corrupt. Greed isn't just a rich person's vice. It happens to everybody. Someone will always want what someone has, or someone will be corrupt to pay someone off to offset the consequences. This movie shows greed on both sides, but you feel for someone that loses their child because children are more precious than money. I am no rich man, but my girls, to me, are more precious than gold on earth. They're truly a gift from God. They also realize that they should bring potential males to me because the ones that were scared of me will suddenly leave and not come back. I never threatened them either. I said well you learned something, daughter. You learned that a guy will try to charm himself to get to you, but when he sees a threat to his existence, he will leave. Guys like that only want to use you. A guy that wants you will stick around and face me. I may not like him, but he has balls to face me anyways. He deserves that little shred of respect. I would rather respect him more than like him. I have been in a boy's shoes, and I always had to face a dad or family member.

On the familiar faces front, you saw the bad cop, Gary Sinise, about a year ago in Apollo 13, playing Ken Mattingly, who did not get the measles. You saw the sorta good kidnapper, Donnie Wahlberg, the year before as the emaciated Vincent, in the opening moments of The Sixth Sense, in his underwear with a gun.
Gary Sinise was also Lieutenant Dan in "Forest Gump", a role that changed his life, and Stu Redman in the original "The Stand" among others like "Truman" and "The Green Mile". Fantastic actor and human being. I didn't recognize Donnie in "The Sixth Sense", thanks.
Yes! The Thomas Crown Affair and Tin Cup are my favorite Rene Russo movies! But as Cassie said, she was in several of the Lethal Weapon movies and was fantastic in those too!
Yea, this movie all day. You don't see anything like this anymore. The kid who played Sean Mullen is Nick Nolte's son. Not sure if you know him but he was one of the most famous actors in Hollywood throughout the 80's and 90's. Lots of great movies. For future reactions, I recommend 48 Hours, Cape Fear and The Prince of Tides. He was outstanding in those.

If you want to see the absolute brilliance of Mel Gibson's skill as a director, you should react to his movie Apocalypto - best viewed in the original language with English subtitles. It is a movie like no other, and will leave you awestruck.
A terrible movie hated by historians makes no sense whatsoever if you know even an ounce of the history the film "attempts" to portray. It may be well shot I suppose with good effects and camera work but that's it
@@afriendlycadian9857 - Eh, a lot of movies that take place in a distant enough time undo history, even when they are portraying it (ie Braveheart). In the end, a good story is a good story. If you don't like the historical accuracy, chalk it up to an alternate universe/timeline and enjoy the story as it's told, especially if the history is a setpiece like Apocalypto and not the basis like Braveheart.
Also great actors in this movie are: Gary Sinise and Donnie Wahlberg. Gary you know and loved in Apollo 13, and in real life devotes so much of himself to philanthropy for veterans in need. Donnie Wahlberg played the beloved Carwood Lipton in Band of Brothers.
The scene where he cries in the balcony after he belives his son just died because of him is heartbreaking, always makes me emotional, and when the wife realises in how much pain he is and that all he did was really to try to save their son and goes comfort him, oh man, so good!!!!!!

YES - the nice kidnapper is Mark Wahlburg's brother, Donnie. Donnie was in the first 15 minutes of the Sixth Sense AND he was a New Kid on the Block in the 80s (my age's boy band). I think the best acting of Mel's was in Signs - well, ONE of his best performances haha I used to think he was just an action star or funny (he did both, as I was growing up) but, now that I'm an adult, I'm discovering just how amazing Mel is! OH - and have you seen Daddy's Home 2? It's set at Christmas time, so you could add that to your list for next December. But, Mel plays Mark Wahlburg's dad and Will Ferrell is the other lead. I don't think you NEED to see the 1st movie to get this one - and I don't think it's particularly good, either.

Hi ladies. That was Donnie Wahlberg, Mark's older brother. He was one of the original members of New Kids on the Block. He also is one of the stars of the TV show Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck. The bad guy was Gary Sinise who played Lt Dan in Forrest Gump. Renee Russo was in Line of Fire with Clint Eastwood, Thor????, she was aalso in Tin Cup with Kevin Costner (you two might like that one. Don't know if you are familiar with actor Nick Nolte but the kid who played Mel's son is Nick's son. Another Mel Gibson movie I think worth watching (Mel's acting in it is really good) it is called Conspiracy Theory and co-stars Julia Roberts.
I honestly forgot how many great actors were in this. Donnie Wahlberg is amazing in Band of Brothers. I've never seen Liev Schrieber do a bad job in anything he's in. Gary Sinise and Mel Gibson go without saying. This is such a stressful movie to watch. I haven't seen it in years.
I think this is Ron Howard's best movie. It is so intense and emotional and really shows the love that a parent has for their child because Tom was willing to risk everything he had to get his son back including going to jail or dying to save him. Mel Gibson's performance in this movie is excellent.
One of Mel Gibson's greatest scenes is when he hears the gunshot, and knows Sean must be dead. Ransom is a lesson to never allow the villain to control his crime location. Delroy, Renee, Gary. Those 90s movies had acting talent. Great reactions ladies! I had fun.😃
At the time this movie was filming, a family member was the Personal Assistant to Rene Russo. During that summer, my son got to spend his vacay @ Rene's house. When he left to go back to College she gave him a Photo that was a prop during the movie. He placed it on his study desk in his dorm room and anyone that saw it was stopped in their tracks. It was a 8x10 framed photo of Rene signed "To Sean, Love Mom" in the movie, Rene's son was named Sean Mullen, my stepson's name...Sean Mullen.!

It's good to see the praise this film has, and the reactions it gets, even when it flies out of the radar a lot. I have my theory why this is not that well remembered, though, and your reactions in the video confirm it: it's not a bad film, but an intense film some suffer due to the very good acting. For those who don't get connected to the story, it flies over their heads; and for those who get connected, they want to rip Gary Sinise to pieces and don't want to relieve the experience soon XD. And so, the film stays in this limbo where only those who want to face the roller coaster one more time check it again. Fun personal story: my parents got to see several films on TV rather on cinemas, due to schedules, prices, not very engaging publicity, etc. This meant they were exposed to the roles of several actors out of order and the very first time they saw Gary Sinise was in Ransom. And they hated him with passion, so much so, for several years they refused to watch films if they knew Sinise had a big part in the project XD. It wouldn't be until they saw Forrest Gump and Apollo 13 several times they could make peace with the presence of the actor in the screen (eventually, Ransom stopped being scheduled on TV and that helped; because at one point it was the only film with him in the local programming). The side effects of being a good actor and making a superb villain, I guess. Nice reaction, and see you in the next one.

Love Donny Walberg. He was amazing in Band of Brothers. And Gary has done so much for the troops. The Lt. Dan Band is my favorite musical act of all time.
Gary Sinise is an amazing person. He has been a shining light for a longtime. Look up his organization and see the reason why he has not been in anything for awhile. One of the few good celebs that uses their name for good.
When you provide a well written script and put a strong cast around Mel Gibson, a great film emerges. He won’t let you down. The intensity during the back and forth between him and Sinise over the phone was movie magic!
Yup, though John Williams’s and Alan Silvestri’s 70s and 80s scores kinda ruled the scene for a time, the 90s were very much James Horner (though Willow, Field of Dreams, and Glory were late 80s) with The Rocketeer, Apollo 13, Braveheart, Legends of the Fall, and Titanic. Soundtracks you could whistle. Sadly, film scores don’t seem to be as memorable anymore. Passable, many, but nothing you can whistle that people will recognize, like Star Wars or Back to the Future or Superman.
The monologue in front of the news cameras is so damn good, the maniac intensity of Mel Gibson being just like any real father would have, the acting out of the norm for Gary Sinise as a bad guy, all of this is so amazing! Thank you for your reactions, I love watching you two!
Gary Sinise was so evil it was easy to forget he's one of the best people. Also, Mel Gibson is a badass. Now a "Payback" reaction can't be far and that's a great revenge movie.
Somebody may have already commented on this, that this movie is a 'Remake' from 1956, "Ransom!" staring Glenn Ford. In that movie however, the father is NOT guilty of any crimes prior to the kidnapping of his son. I won't give any more away, just in case you want to watch that excellent B&W movie.
I disagree. A good movie should give you whatever you expect from it. A great movie should do the same, and also provide even more than you were expecting. All of this can be done without emotion being involved. I didn't watch Bill and Ted expecting to be emotionally pushed to my limits. I didn't watch Monty Python [anything] expecting to be emotionally pushed to my limits. I didn't watch [Die Hard movies] expecting to be emotionally pushed to my limits. But all of these were clearly good (and in some cases great) movies. I don't think the corollary might be true, either. "Any movie that makes you emotional is good." No. That just simply doesn't work. And there are plenty of bleak examples that demonstrate this. I'm not embarrassed about getting emotional when I feel it; but your statement simply makes no sense. A good movie should do whatever it is that is needed to fulfil your needs as a someone watching that movie. Sometimes it also offers more, like a message or life guidance. But essentially by deciding to watch a movie you are saying; "give me what I want."
"Ransom" was originally a movie from the 50s starring Glenn Ford and a young Leslie Nielsen long before "Airplane!" or "Naked Gun". Both movies are terrific in their own way.
I saw the Glenn Ford and Donna Reed version (1956) when I was a kid. Long before a script was a twinkle in anyone's eyes for this remake. I honestly have to say the original was better by 'not' having a crime-tainted father.
@PE4Doers I agree, it feels really unnecessary. Doesn't hurt this one's overall quality though. It was also done in the remake of "Taking of Pelham 123" with Denzel's character revealed to have taken a bribe - one of the biggest changes from the original and a really stupid one. One of so many reasons that version sucked.

Seeing you react when he fires the gun (with us thinking that the boy was killed) hit me really hard. it brought me to tears just seeing you cry, let alone the movie still hitting me right int he gut. This is Ron Howard's most underrated film. The tone, the writing, and the performances are OSCAR worthy. The suspense is going to keep you on the edge of your seat, and Mel Gibson and Gary Sinise are meeting when you really get into it. Gary Sinise, bless his heart, and he has some of the most convincing eyes in Cinema history, and it shows here.

Very well acted and directed classic 90s thriller, this is definitely one of Mel Gibson's greatest performances. Rene Russo who plays his wife was also in Major League and my favorite movie of hers is the excellent comedy Get Shorty with John Travolta and probably her best work is in the Jake Gyllenhaal noir crime movie Nightcrawler. Yes that's Mark Wahlberg's brother Donnie who was also the one who murdered Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense, very underrated for his acting. He's been starring in the long running police drama Blue Bloods and also a member of the music group New Kids on the Block.
I didn't see Band of Brothers but i did watch him in every season of Blue Bloods. However, As a very young girl in the late 80s I still think he was best as the 5th member of New Kids on the Block. 🙃

Donnie Wahlburg is the first “Famous” actor or singer in the family, he was one of the main kids in New Kids on the Block. He is a very good actor as well, Band of Brothers, The 6th Sense and the TV show Blue Bloods. Plus, he is a really nice guy as well.
Your reaction to this film speaks volumes about your maternal instincts-I've never seen either of you react so intensively in any of your prior videos. Those scenes with Sean are difficult to watch, Ron Howard and the cast did an incredible job in creating so much tension and in engrossing the viewer.
When she describes people motionless watching a movie. ITS because of a detachment - people are detached. when i watch it with you - i actually become less detached and more emotional - its insane. MOVIES really are a communal experience.
The original 1956 version is Leslie Nielsen's feature film debut. He'd done a dozen or more TV episodes at that point and we see his dramatic star rise. Glenn Ford is the strong-willed dad, and beautiful Donna Reed is ugli-fied, wave after wave, trauma by trauma is an amazing transformation. I don't know of any other film where the beautiful starlet is 'crushed' under uglier makeup. It's a powerful version although it lacks any exposure of the kidnapper/villain. Leslie plays an on-the-scene in-the-home reporter whose once imagined 'great scoop' becomes a horrible weight.

Step Two - puffy, red (in b&w) eyes... scene after scene, until she's bedridden upstairs, and is then brought down in a gurney. She is not a focal point of the film, but those few scenes she's in are all the more powerful as Remembered Scenes.

The part I love the most is where Tom says to Jimmy: "I would have paid ten times as much if I had any sense that they would actually stick to the deal."
Jimmy's reaction is great because he basically has to concede that Tom was one hundred percent correct and he accurately assessed the situation. Jimmy was going to kill the kid and by taking the course he did, Tom saved his life. For all his talk of privilege, Jimmy got genuinely outplayed.

Knowing you're a mother, I know this must've been a hard watch for you guys. My mom saw this in theaters and said to me, "The inhumane things I would do to a person if I knew they could harm you and I couldn't protect you. That's between me and God, and I'll stand behind it before him."

I remember watching this movie so long ago, before I was a dad. I thought it was pretty intense back then, I can't imagine what it would be like once you are a parent. I felt so bad for you guys, there were points when you looked emotionally gutted. Good reaction !
I am a Daughter Dad of two young women. That scenario played in my head. I taught them situational awareness and to look for an exit. Luckily, cars now are equipped with the trunk latches in the trunk. I taught them how to shoot and to use basic escape techniques, wrist locks, and joint manipulation. Also, to look for anything that can be used as a weapon. The trick is to move forward and not to trap yourself in a corner. Pray to God to help you get out of that situation. I was in the Marine Corps from 03 to 07. I was in the infantry and saw combat. I am more fearful for them than myself. This movie shows how man's hearts are corrupt. Greed isn't just a rich person's vice. It happens to everybody. Someone will always want what someone has, or someone will be corrupt to pay someone off to offset the consequences. This movie shows greed on both sides, but you feel for someone that loses their child because children are more precious than money. I am no rich man, but my girls, to me, are more precious than gold on earth. They're truly a gift from God. They also realize that they should bring potential males to me because the ones that were scared of me will suddenly leave and not come back. I never threatened them either. I said well you learned something, daughter. You learned that a guy will try to charm himself to get to you, but when he sees a threat to his existence, he will leave. Guys like that only want to use you. A guy that wants you will stick around and face me. I may not like him, but he has balls to face me anyways. He deserves that little shred of respect. I would rather respect him more than like him. I have been in a boy's shoes, and I always had to face a dad or family member.

On the familiar faces front, you saw the bad cop, Gary Sinise, about a year ago in Apollo 13, playing Ken Mattingly, who did not get the measles. You saw the sorta good kidnapper, Donnie Wahlberg, the year before as the emaciated Vincent, in the opening moments of The Sixth Sense, in his underwear with a gun.
Donnia Wahlberg was also Carwood Lipton in Band of Brothers.
Gary Sinise was also Lieutenant Dan in "Forest Gump", a role that changed his life, and Stu Redman in the original "The Stand" among others like "Truman" and "The Green Mile". Fantastic actor and human being. I didn't recognize Donnie in "The Sixth Sense", thanks.

Yea, this movie all day. You don't see anything like this anymore. The kid who played Sean Mullen is Nick Nolte's son. Not sure if you know him but he was one of the most famous actors in Hollywood throughout the 80's and 90's. Lots of great movies. For future reactions, I recommend 48 Hours, Cape Fear and The Prince of Tides. He was outstanding in those.

People act like he was so loveable in Forest Gump. Ultimately he was at the end. But he walked the line in that one as well.

If you want to see the absolute brilliance of Mel Gibson's skill as a director, you should react to his movie Apocalypto - best viewed in the original language with English subtitles. It is a movie like no other, and will leave you awestruck.

A terrible movie hated by historians makes no sense whatsoever if you know even an ounce of the history the film "attempts" to portray. It may be well shot I suppose with good effects and camera work but that's it
@@afriendlycadian9857 - Eh, a lot of movies that take place in a distant enough time undo history, even when they are portraying it (ie Braveheart). In the end, a good story is a good story. If you don't like the historical accuracy, chalk it up to an alternate universe/timeline and enjoy the story as it's told, especially if the history is a setpiece like Apocalypto and not the basis like Braveheart.

The scene where he cries in the balcony after he belives his son just died because of him is heartbreaking, always makes me emotional, and when the wife realises in how much pain he is and that all he did was really to try to save their son and goes comfort him, oh man, so good!!!!!!
To see Mel Gibson as the bad guy you root for, you should watch Payback. The tagline was literally "Get ready to root for the bad guy"

YES - the nice kidnapper is Mark Wahlburg's brother, Donnie. Donnie was in the first 15 minutes of the Sixth Sense AND he was a New Kid on the Block in the 80s (my age's boy band). I think the best acting of Mel's was in Signs - well, ONE of his best performances haha I used to think he was just an action star or funny (he did both, as I was growing up) but, now that I'm an adult, I'm discovering just how amazing Mel is! OH - and have you seen Daddy's Home 2? It's set at Christmas time, so you could add that to your list for next December. But, Mel plays Mark Wahlburg's dad and Will Ferrell is the other lead. I don't think you NEED to see the 1st movie to get this one - and I don't think it's particularly good, either.

- Parental instincts overcome fear every time. Im deathly afraid of certain insects (NOT moths). I once cracked two ribs cuz I ran right off my front porch cuz I thought a baby tree frog the size of a quarter was a spider that had jumped on my face. A week later Im calmly brushing bees off my daughter's pants while getting stung repeatedly. She forgot the bee part of course, but she's made a birthday card for me for 11 straight years with a frog on it. 🐸

This movie was a rollercoaster. I remember seeing this in cinema and the shock in the scene when Sinise fires the gun. Heart-stopping.
I don't know if I'm saddened, or proud of Carly here. This is the FIRST time (at least that I've noticed), whereas she DIDN'T hide her eyes during the violence at the climax of the film. She was INTO it!!!

The 80s was a decade for great music, and the 90s was the decade for great films.
I think this is Ron Howard's best movie. It is so intense and emotional and really shows the love that a parent has for their child because Tom was willing to risk everything he had to get his son back including going to jail or dying to save him. Mel Gibson's performance in this movie is excellent.
In the end, Shaker would've killed them all anyway. He couldn't trust any of them, and it was always about him getting the money.

At the time this movie was filming, a family member was the Personal Assistant to Rene Russo. During that summer, my son got to spend his vacay @ Rene's house. When he left to go back to College she gave him a Photo that was a prop during the movie. He placed it on his study desk in his dorm room and anyone that saw it was stopped in their tracks. It was a 8x10 framed photo of Rene signed "To Sean, Love Mom" in the movie, Rene's son was named Sean Mullen, my stepson's name...Sean Mullen.!

It's good to see the praise this film has, and the reactions it gets, even when it flies out of the radar a lot. I have my theory why this is not that well remembered, though, and your reactions in the video confirm it: it's not a bad film, but an intense film some suffer due to the very good acting. For those who don't get connected to the story, it flies over their heads; and for those who get connected, they want to rip Gary Sinise to pieces and don't want to relieve the experience soon XD. And so, the film stays in this limbo where only those who want to face the roller coaster one more time check it again.
Fun personal story: my parents got to see several films on TV rather on cinemas, due to schedules, prices, not very engaging publicity, etc. This meant they were exposed to the roles of several actors out of order and the very first time they saw Gary Sinise was in Ransom. And they hated him with passion, so much so, for several years they refused to watch films if they knew Sinise had a big part in the project XD. It wouldn't be until they saw Forrest Gump and Apollo 13 several times they could make peace with the presence of the actor in the screen (eventually, Ransom stopped being scheduled on TV and that helped; because at one point it was the only film with him in the local programming). The side effects of being a good actor and making a superb villain, I guess.

Gary Sinise is an amazing person. He has been a shining light for a longtime. Look up his organization and see the reason why he has not been in anything for awhile. One of the few good celebs that uses their name for good.

When you provide a well written script and put a strong cast around Mel Gibson, a great film emerges. He won’t let you down. The intensity during the back and forth between him and Sinise over the phone was movie magic!

Sounds like Horner took a lot of inspiration from James Newton Howard's score from The Fugitive.
Yup, though John Williams’s and Alan Silvestri’s 70s and 80s scores kinda ruled the scene for a time, the 90s were very much James Horner (though Willow, Field of Dreams, and Glory were late 80s) with The Rocketeer, Apollo 13, Braveheart, Legends of the Fall, and Titanic. Soundtracks you could whistle. Sadly, film scores don’t seem to be as memorable anymore. Passable, many, but nothing you can whistle that people will recognize, like Star Wars or Back to the Future or Superman.

Somebody may have already commented on this, that this movie is a 'Remake' from 1956, "Ransom!" staring Glenn Ford. In that movie however, the father is NOT guilty of any crimes prior to the kidnapping of his son. I won't give any more away, just in case you want to watch that excellent B&W movie.
Also, Donna Reed (from "It's a Wonderful Life") is the mother in that original movie.
Never be embarrassed about getting emotional at a movie, because a good movie should move your emotions to their extents.

All of this can be done without emotion being involved.
I didn't watch Bill and Ted expecting to be emotionally pushed to my limits.

But all of these were clearly good (and in some cases great) movies.
I don't think the corollary might be true, either. "Any movie that makes you emotional is good." No. That just simply doesn't work. And there are plenty of bleak examples that demonstrate this.
I'm not embarrassed about getting emotional when I feel it; but your statement simply makes no sense.
A good movie should do whatever it is that is needed to fulfil your needs as a someone watching that movie. Sometimes it also offers more, like a message or life guidance. But essentially by deciding to watch a movie you are saying; "give me what I want."

"Ransom" was originally a movie from the 50s starring Glenn Ford and a young Leslie Nielsen long before "Airplane!" or "Naked Gun". Both movies are terrific in their own way.

I saw the Glenn Ford and Donna Reed version (1956) when I was a kid. Long before a script was a twinkle in anyone's eyes for this remake. I honestly have to say the original was better by 'not' having a crime-tainted father.

It was also done in the remake of "Taking of Pelham 123" with Denzel's character revealed to have taken a bribe - one of the biggest changes from the original and a really stupid one. One of so many reasons that version sucked.

Seeing you react when he fires the gun (with us thinking that the boy was killed) hit me really hard. it brought me to tears just seeing you cry, let alone the movie still hitting me right int he gut. This is Ron Howard's most underrated film. The tone, the writing, and the performances are OSCAR worthy. The suspense is going to keep you on the edge of your seat, and Mel Gibson and Gary Sinise are meeting when you really get into it. Gary Sinise, bless his heart, and he has some of the most convincing eyes in Cinema history, and it shows here.

@@CSC52698 blockbuster and critical acclaim (which means positive reviews, to let you know) are what you define as "underrated?" I do not think it means what you think it means. You do actually mean underappreciated. Is there an actor rating website I don't know about like Rotten Tomatoes, which wasn't around then? What do you even mean by "underrated?"

Very well acted and directed classic 90s thriller, this is definitely one of Mel Gibson's greatest performances. Rene Russo who plays his wife was also in Major League and my favorite movie of hers is the excellent comedy Get Shorty with John Travolta and probably her best work is in the Jake Gyllenhaal noir crime movie Nightcrawler. Yes that's Mark Wahlberg's brother Donnie who was also the one who murdered Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense, very underrated for his acting. He's been starring in the long running police drama Blue Bloods and also a member of the music group New Kids on the Block.
@navidhudson7065 I loved Rene Russo in The Thomas Crown Affair. She had great chemistry with both Pierce Brosnan and Dennis Leary.
I think Donnie is extremely underrated as an actor! He was crazy good in his short 6th sense role.

I didn't see Band of Brothers but i did watch him in every season of Blue Bloods. However, As a very young girl in the late 80s I still think he was best as the 5th member of New Kids on the Block. 🙃

Good Lord Cassie this was too much for you. I just remembered a Mel Gibson movie that has been long forgotten. I think its one of his best ones. Its from 1993. The movie is "The Man Without a Face." You and your sister will have a much better time reacting to it than you did watching this one. I hope you enjoy it.

You ladies probably won't see this, but I was reminded of a good movie from around the same time you guys should watch: "The Salton Sea" with Val Kilmer and Peter Sarsgaard. One of my favorite movies from my college days and a great acting performance from Val.

Sadly inspired on an experience his own family endured… FUN FACT: Gary Sinise once approached Director Ron Howard, alongside co-star Mel Gibson, to ask his opinion on how to BEST handle a difficult scene and halfway into his question stopped and said “Wait…why am I asking you?” And turned and asked the question to Gibson instead….(Mel Gibson had just won BEST DIRECTOR for BRAVEHEART beating out Ron Howard’s APOLLO 11)…..😅😅😅😅😅
Mel Gibson films: Conspiracy Theory, Man Without A Face, Payback. Also, Cassie should do a rewatch of the Lethal Weapon series with Carly. Carly likes the Die Hard films and Mel Gibson; it's a perfect match. ETA: Carly would probably know Rene Russo as Thor's mother in the MCU films.

Donnie Wahlburg is the first “Famous” actor or singer in the family, he was one of the main kids in New Kids on the Block. He is a very good actor as well, Band of Brothers, The 6th Sense and the TV show Blue Bloods. Plus, he is a really nice guy as well.
Your reaction to this film speaks volumes about your maternal instincts-I've never seen either of you react so intensively in any of your prior videos. Those scenes with Sean are difficult to watch, Ron Howard and the cast did an incredible job in creating so much tension and in engrossing the viewer.
Ron Howard makes some of my all time favorite movies.
When she describes people motionless watching a movie. ITS because of a detachment - people are detached. when i watch it with you - i actually become less detached and more emotional - its insane. MOVIES really are a communal experience.
The original 1956 version is Leslie Nielsen's feature film debut. He'd done a dozen or more TV episodes at that point and we see his dramatic star rise. Glenn Ford is the strong-willed dad, and beautiful Donna Reed is ugli-fied, wave after wave, trauma by trauma is an amazing transformation. I don't know of any other film where the beautiful starlet is 'crushed' under uglier makeup. It's a powerful version although it lacks any exposure of the kidnapper/villain. Leslie plays an on-the-scene in-the-home reporter whose once imagined 'great scoop' becomes a horrible weight.
oh wow I have never seen that film and they had the bright idea to make Gorgeous DONNA Reed get ugly? lol now i have to look for it somewhere soon ahaha
Glenn Ford's sweaty, trembling, terrified TV station "bounty on your head" scene is one of the most intense movie scenes of all time.
It's very very good. It's much more contained. It basically takes place solely in their house.
@@michaelceraso1977 Everyone looks ugly when bawling, so of course that's Step One. Step Two - puffy, red (in b&w) eyes... scene after scene, until she's bedridden upstairs, and is then brought down in a gurney. She is not a focal point of the film, but those few scenes she's in are all the more powerful as Remembered Scenes.
The original version is definitely worth seeing.
Like when you said, never seen a bad Mel Gibson movie, so sad he was a Hollywood outcast for so many years, just because he didn't have a filter of what he believed in, he is an amazing actor and priducer/director
This movie was definitely her breaking point I think we've pushed her too far made her watch too many movies that are outside her character a year ago. She never would have used the phrase "I WOULD PRESS IN THE BULLET WOUND"

My favorite part of this is when Tom is laying out his plan for the ransom bounty. And he says, just so pointedly "Do you know anyone who wouldn't turn you in for 2 million dollars? I don't think you do. I doubt it."
Just the perfect way of telling someone that they and everyone they know are scum and it's about to be exploited. Can't help but cheer for him.
