When it comes to Thrice, the variety of their songs and all the different aspects they have implemented over the years into their music, make it kind of hard for me to just pick one. From the older era, I really dig Of Dust And Nations. Wonderful tune, the simple yet so powerful tapped melodies are almost haunting. From the newer era, my favourite is Black Honey. That song basically created it's own cathegory. Thrice mastered here the crafts of composing incredibly catchy song, but not cheesy in the slightest way. It's that kind of song that gets stuck in your head the first time you hear it and stays there for years. Still can't get enough of it man.
I was introduced to Thrice after listening to Black Honey and immediately bought the album To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere then the first track Hurricane came on and I was floored. From start to finish it's a masterpiece and still holds it's place as my favourite Thrice album still. Even though their last album Horizons/East I really enjoyed as well. My top 3 off the last album would be Summer Set Fire To The Rain, Still Life & Dandelion Wine
Thrice fans, let us all unite! The screaming really caught me off guard. The screaming was very subtle on pretty much all of their last 3-4 last albums, so this really surprised me and also really hyped me up! I know this is most likely a b-side or an extra song for a deluxe edition of Horizons/East, but I really hope we'll get some other songs with this kind of screaming.
Thrice is the absolute best. For my Thrice fans, I found these guys to be pretty similar in a Thrice way. Not as good, but no one is. th-cam.com/video/UyTLzUBDzYY/w-d-xo.html
Best band ever. They just never cease to amaze. Also favorite Thrice song alternates back and forth between. To Awake and Avenge the Dead and Like Moths to Flame
Oh man, favorite Thrice song is hard. Like you said, it depends of the mood that I am. Mellow : Circles or In This Storm Acoustic : Come All You Weary or Beyond the Pines Energic : Of Dust and Nations, Hurricane or Black Honey
Well shit. This was like Beggars meets Artist in the Ambulance. What a song, reaaally loved this one. Everything top to tail was amazing. That bridge was faaantastic. The lyrics are a message I vibe with, Dustin's always had a unique way with words that I can't help but love. Reaaally hard to pick a favorite Thrice song. Genuinely. But I'd it's probably matched between To Awake and Avenge the Dead off Illusion of Safety, and Like Moths to Flame off Vheissu. Both are great and have such explosive endings, and To Awake and Avenge the Dead has that killer lead at the end. I actually almost called my old band Killing Aristotle lol.
Between the End and Where We Lie -- The introspective, philosophical poetry in most of Thrice's lyrics is my favorite part about them. This song is really just one example of that, but I've spent more time thinking about the content of this song then most.
I appreciated your comment about being a Thrice simp because I often feel the same when talking about the band, but that's ok haha Fav song is hard one to answer because like you said, they have such a diverse catalog but gun to head, probably The Long Defeat. Such a beautiful track all around.
Really like seeing that Thrice is starting to get heavy again. I found out about these guys during the release of To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere, and I thought that was a really good record. My favorite songs from that record are Black Honey, Hurricane, Blood In The Sand, and Whistleblower. Sea Change was also a really good single. Definitely will have to check out some more Thrice in the future. 🎸
No cons is fair. Horizons-era Thrice slaps. I wasn't a big fan of Palms, but seeing them take that sound and mature is wonderful, and Horizons East is probably my 3rd or 4th favorite Thrice album. And these singles or B-Sides have been just as good as the album.
Great reaction! Favourite Thrice song before Horizons East is damn hard to pick, but if I'd have to chose I would say The Melting Point of Wax. Since the last album, it definitely is Robot Soft Exorcism. That song is still on heavy rotation, the atmosohere is out of this world! As you mentioned to be a The Dear Hunter fan some time ago, will you react to a song from their latest album Antimai some time? I have no connection to the band, they just deserve so much more attention 😉
It feels like listening to Thrice songs the first time is a "don't know" moment. The second time listening to a Thrice song is like a light bulb went off.
For Miles become my favorite between the years. The composition is amazing starting as a soft piano ballad and ending as a chaotic heavy song. Vheissu imo is their magnum opus as well.
Thrice is my favorite band of all time for all the reasons you stated. They keep evolving their sound and somehow kill it every time. Also their lyrics are so impactful and the themes they create are incredible. I simp for Thrice too.
These last two songs were supposed to be on West, but now they've decided to make West a different beast. They had enough ideas from the East sessions to make two records, but they were tired after the East cycle. So whatever West becomes, it won't just be catalogued ideas from East. It'll have plenty of newness.
Dustin did mention they were working on a part two to the Horizons East record called Horizons West. Think this song is the lead up to that record coming up.
How could pick just one song 🤯 Daedalus has always been a fav. Words in the water. Blood on blood. Like moths to the flame. Don’t tell and we won’t ask
This plus the recent song Dead Wake give me so much hope after Horizons East was such a massive disappointment. Favourite Thrice song is so tough in a discography as big as theirs. It's probably Of Dust and Nations.
Unpopular opinion: The best Thrice album is Vheissu. I love that they do something different every time, though. Burn the Fleet is my favorite song, I just wish the mix was punchier and it would be a GOAT epic song.
Vheissu is more appreciated both in retrospect and as the band's audience has grown. Upon release reception seemed worse because half the fan base said "nothing on here sounds like Deadbolt".
I have decided to die on a hill... I want more youtubers to react to Nothingface. Late 90's early 00's nu-metal band worth time. Anything from their 2nd or 3rd albums: Villains or Violence. Please!
The Red Death. I respect what Thrice does, and their willingness to push their creative boundaries. The issue to me is that they don't seem to be able to be progressive and creative while keeping the emotion in the music. I just haven't really connected with anything they've done since Artist In The Ambulance
New Thrice confuses me. I know they are constantly evolving and improving but everything I used to love about them, they don’t like to seem to do anymore lol. Same with BFMV. Thankfully I’ve got their old stuff but it’s a personal bummer for me. I miss being pumped for new content
Dude, love your reactions. Thrice has been my favorite band since 2003. They get better with age. I know you are busy, but I think you would enjoy SLT, they have a lot of Thrice influence in their music. Would love to hear your feedback on them. Please and Thank you Good sir. th-cam.com/video/UyTLzUBDzYY/w-d-xo.html
Thrice were never not heavy, in my opinion. They just went in a different heavy direction. They won't ever be as heavy as TAITA, Vheissu or the Fire disc from TAL. However, Dustin tastefully brings out the shouting when he needs too. He did the same thing in Branch In The River on Palms. Even Black Honey from TBEITBN was heavy, but once again, not drop-tuned screaming heavy. I love this new era of Thrice. Their songs have complex song structures, awesome use of time signatures and Eddies bass tone is monstrous, it's out of control. I would love an entire album that has the vibe of these last two b-side tracks, the more grunge sound they teased on Beggars. The thing I love about this track is Dustin is shouting, but the guitars are barely distorted. The riff in the chorus reminds me of The Messenger a little bit from the Fire disc on TAL.
Great review for a great track! I hear a lot of fire tones in the guitar, which I personally love. My favorite part of any song is the beginning guitar in So Strange That I Remember You. Favorite song has to be Atlantic. The atmosphere in that song is second to none.
Also, I'm getting some crazy identity crisis vibes from the notes they use in the guitar. It sounda like a fire song with some hard-core Kill Me Quickly sounds. The more I listen the more I hear things I love.

Mellow : Circles or In This Storm
Acoustic : Come All You Weary or Beyond the Pines
Energic : Of Dust and Nations, Hurricane or Black Honey
So damn good dude. There will never be anyone better.
Also, "Eclipse" haha
I love all eras and sounds of Thrice. But there is just always something special when they do heavy stuff
Also, I’m hoping this is a sign of things to come for Horizons West 🤞
Same dude!

Such an underrated Thrice song and one of my absolute favorites!!!
I appreciated your comment about being a Thrice simp because I often feel the same when talking about the band, but that's ok haha

loved your review, totally agree! loved the heavy feel and was similarly surprised when i first listened.
I love Dustin solo stuff
Of crows and crowns was our wedding song
It's not enough is great too
It’s Never Enough is a gorgeous one too. But that one’s a little too sappy for a Wedding though haha
Of Crows and Crowns was the wedding song my wife and I chose too.
Great reaction Birb.
Deadbolt is my favorite, such a banger.
No cons is fair. Horizons-era Thrice slaps. I wasn't a big fan of Palms, but seeing them take that sound and mature is wonderful, and Horizons East is probably my 3rd or 4th favorite Thrice album. And these singles or B-Sides have been just as good as the album.
Whistleblower or Black Honey is my favorite Thrice song! Really loved the most recent album too 🔥
Great reaction!

I get Vheissu/Fire vibes! Sounds awesome!
Tbh this one might be my favorite at the moment. Much love dude ❤️
For Miles become my favorite between the years. The composition is amazing starting as a soft piano ballad and ending as a chaotic heavy song. Vheissu imo is their magnum opus as well.
I knew you’d be all over the thrice reaction lol love to see it
Saw them couple months back and they played 'where idols once stood' was blown away when he went in fully on the shouting parts
sounds like its Dustin and Teppei screaming panned left and right respectively. you love to see it
Also Ed too. He does a lot of the background screams on their tracks.
Thrice is my favorite band of all time for all the reasons you stated. They keep evolving their sound and somehow kill it every time. Also their lyrics are so impactful and the themes they create are incredible. I simp for Thrice too.
My favorite song is still Flags of Dawn. Though a close second might be Come All You Weary
It's pretty interesting to hear how much this song shares with Dead Wake.
In this storm, outro is probably my favorite Thrice riff of all time. I can never turn it up high enough.
Oh nice a track in 5. It's a nice surprise to hear something other than 3/4 or 4/4 in this genre. Thrice always delivers.
Black honey will always be my favorite track by them
Thrice is the best! How to choose from over 20 years of their music? The Abolition of Man or The Weight of Glory.
These last two songs were supposed to be on West, but now they've decided to make West a different beast. They had enough ideas from the East sessions to make two records, but they were tired after the East cycle. So whatever West becomes, it won't just be catalogued ideas from East. Straight up my favorite Thrice song is Black Honey. That’s probably such a generic answer but that song just does something to me.
I havent dug into thrice but my first impression was his cleans, they reminded of The band 10 Years vocals very solid tine though
YESSSS YESSSS BANGERRRRR
This sounded so much like Incubus. And like Thrice at the same time
Black honey and this one was stellar as well
Dustin did mention they were working on a part two to the Horizons East record called Horizons West. Think this song is the lead up to that record coming up.

Favourite Thrice song is so tough in a discography as big as theirs. It's probably Of Dust and Nations.
Favorite Thrice song is The Abolition of Man
An old friend of mine used to say that Dustin's scream was monotone and weak. What do y'all think?
There best song in a while. So good.
Unpopular opinion: The best Thrice album is Vheissu. I love that they do something different every time, though. Burn the Fleet is my favorite song, I just wish the mix was punchier and it would be a GOAT epic song.
I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion! Vheissu is my favourite too, 10/10 album imo
Vheissu is more appreciated both in retrospect and as the band's audience has grown. Upon release reception seemed worse because half the fan base said "nothing on here sounds like Deadbolt".
Lyrics really suit the mood of the song. "Breaking my back for half a living wage".
For Miles is their best ever song
I have decided to die on a hill... I want more youtubers to react to Nothingface. Late 90's early 00's nu-metal band worth time. Anything from their 2nd or 3rd albums: Villains or Violence. Please!
Best band of all time
Never thought I'd see the day they would have a failure sound plus heavy
So is this song on the next album or just a b side?
The Red Death. I respect what Thrice does, and their willingness to push their creative boundaries. The issue to me is that they don't seem to be able to be progressive and creative while keeping the emotion in the music. You used to say Thrice was definitively your favorite band. Now you're wavering a little bit. What's up?
Huh?
@@METALBIRB You said "one of your favorite bands." You used to be more absolute that they were your favorite.
this isn’t heavy. sorry, couldn’t get into it.
Great review for a great track! I hear a lot of fire tones in the guitar, which I personally love. My favorite part of any song is the beginning guitar in So Strange That I Remember You. Favorite song has to be Atlantic. The atmosphere in that song is second to none.
