Besides HMS, the other Chevrolet teams are struggling... each team might have their own issues but I wanna look at Trackhouse and RCR cause apparently both teams are "Tier 1" while Kaulig, Spire and JTG are close to the bottom: Trackhouse: The struggles could be due to their expansion to a MotoGP team, possibly debates over their expansion plans in Cup... or maybe even their Engines. Keep in mind, they use ECR engines. I may be correct on this or not but Hendrick Engines and ECR might have stopped working together according to a rumor I have heard recently... RCR: ECR Engines, but mainly RCR as a whole needs a revamp of some sort like new ownership and better people to hire on their competition side for example. They are considered close to the top mainly because they own and run ECR Engines. But like you said Eric, it also has to do with the outdated bodystyle...
Blaney should have 3 wins if it weren’t for running out of gas. I’d definitely say he is back in the championship talk after the last few weeks. He was also inches away from winning at Atlanta. I think he has had good speed all season, but some bad luck has cost him good finishes.
Im a diehard GM guy, but i thoroughly enjoy when all "manufacturers" get wins. It makes the season interesting. If i wanted one driver or make to win every race, id watch my kids play nascar thunder.
In my opinion you gotta give denny 1st in rankings even though I don't really like denny, he's js been doing better it feels like larson he's js been fading ever since chicago

Hey Eric, glad to know you read the comments. I also feel like Blaney got what he deserved in your power Rankings. I wanted to ask you why you think Blaney didn’t have the fastest car at Pocono, you mentioned Chase could pass cars, but I feel like you overlooked Blaney. Blaney was able to pass all day, when his strategy didn’t work out in the first stage, he was way back in p20 behind Byron, but he managed to get all the way inside the top 10 on mostly a green flag run. I’m just saying it was definitely between the 9 and the 12, but I think Blaney showed he had arguably the best car, we saw him pull away from Hamlin when he saw that he was making time on him in the closing laps. I also remember you said Blaney maybe had the 3rd or 4th fastest car at Iowa, which I would disagree, I think Larson was definitely faster, but after he was eliminated from competition, no one could get close to Blaney. He managed a decent lead vs Byron for 80 laps on TWO tires. So I guess I was wondering who you thought was faster in both races, I’m genuinely curious. Love your content though, so keep it up!
Ford had been struggling for so long, it was hard to watch them...they came close to winning on many occasions but never could pull it off. Glad to see that they are finally doing well!
Hey Eric you know what I did tonight I was able to go see a stretch of round rock I remembered from your Eric estepp challenge scavenger hunt video from a few years ago I did see that bass pro shops you were at in that video and did see that shell you stopped at in that video. And did see that cracker barrel I remember I did see also in that video I did stop at a Walmart not the one you stopped at but a Walmart I never stopped or seen before but I did find other companies who are in nascar or are not included Hooters who just left the sport I wonder if the Hooters I did see is the same you did its worth noting sadly some Hooters in Houston area are gone including the one on i69 at Kirby I did see a lot in recent years my closest one from me is still there.
It seems like Ford always finds something slowly and pulls up to the competition with time. It's gonna be hard to beat Ford in the Championship this year, is my prediction. There seems to be a trend. With two championships in a row and momentum being so important, you gotta feel it. I see either Blaney or Logano winning Indy. Otherwise.....Larson. Dark horses, Reddick (just has been strong overall and very consistent) or........Bowman (momentum). But this is coming from a Ricky Rudd, Matt Kenseth, Ryan Blaney fan.....so let's call me biased.

Something crazy about Blaney that I think a lot of people are overlooking. Since Dover of 2024 Blaney has finished outside the top 10 based on pace once, which was a P12 at Kansas. Darlington he got wrecked out of the top 5, Charlotte he had a loose wheel while running right around the top 10. Gateway he ran out of gas coming to the white flag while leading. New Hampshire he got dumped by McDowell when he ran in the top 5 for the whole race. He is on an absolute tear right now, and could be on a a crazy top 10 streak if it weren’t for getting caught in other people’s crap and a few team mistakes.
Sucks to see JD falling down the tubes. I was camping there all weekend and made sure to wear my OOTG Brennan Poole crew shirt for Xfinity raceday, just for the 6 car to not even be in the field. Hopefully they can come back with some more funding and keep racing, or perhaps merge with another team.
This has been a great summer for Team Penske, Since May 19th of the All Star Race, Penske as an Organization has won every other race. I'm gonna call it now they're gonna win the championship 3 times in a row.
Ford has won 5 of the last 9 points paying Cup Series races; Darlington, Gateway, Iowa, Nashville and Pocono. Plus they finally broke through in the Xfinity Series by getting their first win of the season on Saturday.
If GM really switches over to Cadillac, I see this as absolute heresy. There is a reason why Cadillac is not even really on the winners board for OEMs. Because even in the early days, nobody wanted to trash up a good Cadi. But perhaps they will take a Cadillac body and rebranded as a Chevy product and still keep the most successful manufacturer in NASCAR. Could it be rebranded as a new Lumina? Or perhaps it's a new model of the Impala or Malibu? I guess we'll see for sure. But I sure would hate to see Chevrolet, which is on board for almost 900 Cup wins as a manufacturered, be sacrificed for their luxury brand.

We have these conversations every year about manufacturers and at the end of the season it usually balances itself out. They’re all about as equal, but have strengths and weaknesses, depending on the tracks.
I heard that if Chevrolet doesn’t come up with a solution fast. GM might go the corvette or Cadillac route. I also heard that maybe the Malibu might be a possibility.

Logano is 14th in points with fewer top10s than the rest of my list. Obviously he's capable of winning any given week, but overall he's not been as good as the rest of my top 10
Here are some stats I've come up with to debunk the "Chevy is falling off and Ford is just now catching them" narrative. It's no secret that almost every race has been won by Hendrick, Gibbs, and Penske. So let's break it down. Hendrick has 89% of Chevy's wins (8 of 9) Penske has 80% of Ford's wins (4 of 5) Gibbs has 86% of Toyota's wins (6 of 7) Hendrick has 74% of Chevy's top 5s (28 of 38) Penske has 33% of Ford's top 5s (11 of 33) Gibbs has 68% of Toyota's top 5s (23 of 34) Hendrick has 56% of Chevy's top 10s (44 of 78) Penske has 28% of Ford's top 10s (19 of 69) Gibbs has 60% of Toyota's top 10s (38 of 63) Hendrick consists of 28.5% of all chartered Chevy teams. Penske consists of 21% of all chartered Ford teams. Gibbs consists of 50% of all chartered Toyota teams. I hope this draws a clear enough picture of how Hendrick has been carrying Chevy even though there are 10 other full time teams. If you counted Hendrick as its own manufacturer, they would still lead in wins and be just behind Ford and Toyota in top 5s. If you aren't Hendrick and you drive a Chevy, good chance you're having a bad season. Ross is the only arguable exception. Ford has been way, way more consistent overall than Chevy and the stats prove that. Also, if you take out the three plate races, non-Hendrick Chevy loses 1 win, 4 top 5s, and 9 top 10s.
Yeah I think it’s a bit of both, because ford/Toyota had the opportunity make design decisions and research areo stuff, Chevy on the other hand, has discontinued their Camaro, and has not had the opportunity to research areo stuff. That’s why Chevy isn’t as good as they should be.

Hendrick is good, the rest of Chevrolet has slipped this year. The Trackhouse win at Atlanta is the other Chevy win. It's been Toyota vs Hendrick with some RFK, and now Penske.

Toyota has knocked it out of the park with their specs and durability Ford is catching up, they just need to apply it equally for all teams to have a chance (1 lone Mustang held off an entire field of Hendrick/Hendrick II Chevys and G1/G2 Toyotas more often now for the win) Chevy is starting to rely on luck more than drivers and specs
three months ago, everyone was saying ford was lost, and Chevy was king. Give me a break Eric. Yes, Ford may have found something, but really? Teams surge in performance. Simple. Surging now is NOT the time. It will change when the "playoffs" start, or at least half way through, when it makes a difference.
Why do you think the 23 car was so far off this weekend? Once they gave Bubba somewhat better adjustments he drove up the field pretty well. My assumption was Bootie was throwing for the fences with setup and completely missed the mark.
I don't know about the other Chevy teams but you should find out in about 6 weeks if Hendrick is napping. I mean if you don't let them others show out a little they'll take their toys and go home. This how Chase racing is done you win and build for the Chase.
Gm would be nuts to not move over to cadillac next year. They've gained popularity in imsa and they plan on moving into f1 soon. It only makes sense to transfer into nascar. Not to mention they're the only gm brand that still has cars. Everybody else has crossovers and suvs.

I was at the race at Pocono and the #6 xfinity car was inside of the same hauler as the #4 car came out of before the race started. 🤷
Larson loses the points lead and was never really a factor. Stays at #1. Chase takes point lead and has a better race, loses a spot...

This has been a great summer for Team Penske, Since May 19th of the All Star Race, Penske as an Organization has won every other race. I'm gonna call it now they're gonna win the championship 3 times in a row.

Ford has won 5 of the last 9 points paying Cup Series races; Darlington, Gateway, Iowa, Nashville and Pocono.
Plus they finally broke through in the Xfinity Series by getting their first win of the season on Saturday.
If GM really switches over to Cadillac, I see this as absolute heresy. There is a reason why Cadillac is not even really on the winners board for OEMs. Because even in the early days, nobody wanted to trash up a good Cadi.
But perhaps they will take a Cadillac body and rebranded as a Chevy product and still keep the most successful manufacturer in NASCAR. Could it be rebranded as a new Lumina? Or perhaps it's a new model of the Impala or Malibu? I guess we'll see for sure. But I sure would hate to see Chevrolet, which is on board for almost 900 Cup wins as a manufacturered, be sacrificed for their luxury brand.
Maybe they could rebrand the Cadillac ct5 v blackwing as a Chevy chevelle!

Here are some stats I've come up with to debunk the "Chevy is falling off and Ford is just now catching them" narrative.
It's no secret that almost every race has been won by Hendrick, Gibbs, and Penske. So let's break it down.
Hendrick has 89% of Chevy's wins (8 of 9)
Penske has 80% of Ford's wins (4 of 5)
Gibbs has 86% of Toyota's wins (6 of 7)
Hendrick has 74% of Chevy's top 5s (28 of 38)
Penske has 33% of Ford's top 5s (11 of 33)
Gibbs has 68% of Toyota's top 5s (23 of 34)
Hendrick has 56% of Chevy's top 10s (44 of 78)
Penske has 28% of Ford's top 10s (19 of 69)
Gibbs has 60% of Toyota's top 10s (38 of 63)
Hendrick consists of 28.5% of all chartered Chevy teams.
Penske consists of 21% of all chartered Ford teams.
Gibbs consists of 50% of all chartered Toyota teams.
I hope this draws a clear enough picture of how Hendrick has been carrying Chevy even though there are 10 other full time teams. If you counted Hendrick as its own manufacturer, they would still lead in wins and be just behind Ford and Toyota in top 5s. If you aren't Hendrick and you drive a Chevy, good chance you're having a bad season. Ross is the only arguable exception. Ford has been way, way more consistent overall than Chevy and the stats prove that. Also, if you take out the three plate races, non-Hendrick Chevy loses 1 win, 4 top 5s, and 9 top 10s.

Yeah I think it’s a bit of both, because ford/Toyota had the opportunity make design decisions and research areo stuff, Chevy on the other hand, has discontinued their Camaro, and has not had the opportunity to research areo stuff. That’s why Chevy isn’t as good as they should be.

Maybe the Ford resurgence is due to them figuring out the new "Crapstang". The sad thing is they still haven't really got a good grasp of the car. Half the season is over and they still aren't that much ahead of where they were at the beginning of the season. Does my heart good to see Ford suck. Hopefully they figure it out. Sometime in 2026.

Hendrick is good, the rest of Chevrolet has slipped this year. The Trackhouse win at Atlanta is the other Chevy win. It's been Toyota vs Hendrick with some RFK, and now Penske.
I think it’s more Gibbs Hendrick Penske with a little rfk … 23 11 is basically Gibbs …. Legacy is actually worse than they were with Chevy and got zero help from Chevy .. it’s the usual suspects every year usually but people make so damn much out of a manufacturer… my only surprise is I thought trackhouse would take a step up this year and play with the big boys .. they are not ready for prime time I guess yet

Why do you think the 23 car was so far off this weekend? Once they gave Bubba somewhat better adjustments he drove up the field pretty well. My assumption was Bootie was throwing for the fences with setup and completely missed the mark.
I don't know about the other Chevy teams but you should find out in about 6 weeks if Hendrick is napping. I mean if you don't let them others show out a little they'll take their toys and go home. This how Chase racing is done you win and build for the Chase.
Gm would be nuts to not move over to cadillac next year. They've gained popularity in imsa and they plan on moving into f1 soon. It only makes sense to transfer into nascar. Not to mention they're the only gm brand that still has cars. Everybody else has crossovers and suvs.
