  • A video I created for my Dad's 50th birthday celebration, taking a look back at 1962.
I do not own the right to any of these clips, all taken from other TH-cam videos. I only edited them together and added trivia.

They couldn't include everything. But other super-cool things in the year of my birth was "Hatari" and the great score by Mancini; the Jetsons; The Manchurian Candidate; Cape Fear; and the Tijuana Brass.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I can't stop smiling and feeling all warm inside. I was 9. After all these years I still love watching David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia. Thank you.

Back then when we'd have fried potatoes, red beans, and cornbread for supper, mom would complain she couldn't make "ends meat".
We figured she'd lost the recipe.

This is the kind of video I was looking for in vintage content. Most of the videos today have either snarky commentary or HUGE logos on the video (I guess IMPLYING that it's "their" video?). THIS is better in every way.!

KMart, Target and Walmart are ALL from 1962. But the stores were different, in as much as Kmart had roots in S.S. Kresge (1899 Detroit,MI), Target had roots in Dayton department stores ( 1902 Minneapolis,MN) Walmart was the only one of these not to have an "in town" (Kresge) and separate "suburban" (Kmart) divide. Oh, And Walmart SUCKS., seriously. My niece needed a new TV... Wally world had TWO.... I don't mean 2 models...I literally mean TWO FUCKING TVs in a store that is larger than the TOWN that I grew up in. My garage had more TVs. This VERY room I'm in has more TVs... When our local Kmart was CLOSING, on the VERY DAY that they closed had SIX times as many TVs as our local Walmart.

Coca-Cola's glass bottles had class.Today's plastics have below absolute zero class. That Packer-Giant game happened on a day colder than they described. The landlord's of the 60's weren't too keen on heat.I listened to that game wearing a sweater. The game was blacked out in The Greater New York area.Plus,it had to start at 2 PM or later due to NYC's Sunday blue law.

Not to mention the guy giving his wife an iron for Christmas!?
If she didn't catch the iron in the commercial it would have landed on the babies head!
Was snagglepuss the first gay cartoon character?

Didn't save them, did you? Several times, in the early 1960s
there were commercials showing different products, going
against the "Brand X " kind. As a a little kid, I sometimes
wondered what the Brand X ones were ...
Anyway, show those, and THEN I'll say, "That, and the Laura
Schudders noisy potato chips commercials -
THAT IS THE EARLY AND MID 1960S !!!
