      I'v been given the opportunity to get a good deal on a 09 Hyosung gt650 but have no idea on how reliable their engines are.. do they eat the miles. I mean has anyone heard of a Hyosung with over 100,000 on the clock? all the research I've done seems like lots talk about the Strator and Rectifier faults and that they are constant doing repairs? has this been you experience?

    the first time, around 7 years ago, i saw this motorcycle next to me at a red light and thought "wow this looks bulky and very nice". the name didnt put me off, but i still went with a honda vfr 750 instead. now after my 750 is gone i am still amazed by this bike and its looks and it definitely has the very cheap price going for it. i will test one out and will see if i'll get one. did you have any problems? i heard electronics are bit of a problem with the hyosungs.

    Hi there
    I have a GTR with clip-on which I don't like. I want to raise the handlebars as per your bike. Are these triple tree clamp same or I have to drill holes in it. Please advise.

    • @IconicSportCycle
      @IconicSportCycle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They come from the same casting, but they are not drilled out. I actually did this swap on my 2008 GTR. I found it to be much more comfortable. I did have to trim my windshield to clear my handlebars. I bought everything used on ebay at a reasonable cost. I posted a video of this conversion. Good luck

      Yes it's nice, I'm thinking to make the handlebars more closer to the rider, like touring bike, once done, will share the pictures.
      Now I have come across another problem, as you must have noticed that Hyosung turning radius is very small. There are 2 small block welded on lower triple tree clamp which touch the frame when you turn. and not letting you turn further. I'm thinking to remove those blocks. So I can have full turning radius. What do you think. Please advise.

      I've had really good luck with mine. I did have to replace the rectifier on my 2008 GTR once but I put 33000 miles on it in 18 months. I've heard other owners have had rectifier failures on their early models as well. replacement ones seem to work ok..

    Hyosung did not design the sv650 they had the contract to make the vtwin Suzuki designed engine in their factory which they copied when they decided to make their own bikes ..so the engine is really good but can't speak for the rest of the bike.

    • @IconicSportCycle
      @IconicSportCycle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Okay, maybe designed implied they were completely responsible for the finished product. They were however instrumental in the development and testing of this bike. even to this day, Suzuki Has ties to Hyosung. And for the record, I've owned both the SV650 and the GT650 and prefer the Hyosung hands down.

    • @paulmolineux4094
      @paulmolineux4094 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IconicSportCycle they really were not instrumental in anything to do with the sv650 they made engines for suzuki and also they made bikes under licence from suzuki for the south korean market ...ive never owned an sv650 i have owned 2 sv1000's which were decent and ive heard the hyosungs are ok . ill paste this for you ...Founded in 1978 as a division of the Hyosung Group of industries, Hyosung began producing Japanese Suzuki motorcycle designs under license for the South Korean market in Changwon, South Korea in 1979.

      Suspension and frame is as good if not better than any other Japanese entry level mid sized steel frame bikes. The worst part I've found in my 8000km on a 2010 650R has been the ignition system, if you put a set of coils, hv leads and spark cap boots from a first gen SV, the bike is nearly perfect. Stock brake lines / pads should also be replaced but the brakes work fine from factory too. They addressed the inadequate spark boots / ignition coils in 2013. If you get a bike later than 2010, they're near bullet proof. Mine is sitting on 25,000km and still does 0-100 in 4 sec, there are some still being tracked with 80,000+ km

      To get a good deal on one, you should check to see if any of the local dealers have new left overs from previous model years but I fell pretty sure you could order one from your local dealer. Of course, due to their smaller dealer network, your local dealer may be a road trip to get to. I drove 2 1/2 hours away to pick mine up. Totally worth it.
