I think Lorule represent a different sort of qualities that is still the same. Wisdom that requires mistakes and regrets to learn, Power that is nothing more than a tool to be used but without a mind of its own and finally, Courage that hid itself within cowardice. Ravio is indeed a coward but for the person he cared for, he WILL find a way. In this way, he is indeed Link's mirror. After all, true courage is acting despite fear.

well lorule destroyed its triforce long ago to prevent people fighting over it. So Ravio didn't have a triforce of courage inhabiting him, so he didn't overcome his fear of failure. Hilda didn't have a triforce of wisdom, so she was easily duped by a sorcerer. They aren't devoid of those traits, they just don't have the inhuman amount that a triforce would grant.

I've always thought of Link and Ravio as two sides of the same coin. Link's the side of stereotypical courage--the hero in the spotlight saving the Princess through skill and determination. Ravio's the other side--he doesn't want the spotlight, he's too terrified to, so instead of doing it himself, he works behind-the-scenes to achieve his ultimate goal.

A ruler who lacks wisdom will lead her kingdom to ruin.
A hero who lacks courage will fail to step up.
A villain who lacks power will still find a way.
With no one to stop it, evil will blossom, and yet...
What cannot be found within, might be seen outside.
A ruler who lacks wisdom can seek it from others.
A hero who lacks courage can be inspired to act.
A villain who lacks power will grasp desperately at false strength.
When things come to pass, a stand will be made.
The foolish ruler is reckless, and has courage to spare.
The cowardly hero is clever, with much wit to lend.
The weak villain has shallow strength, but he stands alone.
The fool and the coward lean on each other, cover for each other.
The villain will not last when his power crumbles.

I actually thought Lorule was sort of a shifting on Hyrule not an inversion. In this case, who holds what virtue of the triforce. Ravio rather than having courage, has wisdom. He's aware of almost anything, the bracelet he makes is HIS specifically designed to counter and weaponize his enemies greatest strength against him. I suspect he may have made all the tools he ultimately sells to Link. He knows how to get everything done as evidenced by the tools, but lacks the courage to do so. Hilda on the other hand has power. She's one of the biggest players in the plot to steal the Trifroce of Hyrule. Her casual confirmation of 'containing' the double up of Yuga and Ganon speaks of enormous magical power and she's only taken out by a last second treachery, a gutsy move by the the holder of Courage. Yuga is a crazy bastard with no care for his own safety and jumps from world to world with impunity, uses his power openly without fear of repercussion and so ballsy that he tries and actually pulls of merging with Ganon. Courage in spades no?
If my little crazy theory is true there might be a mid-rule where the hero has power, the princess courage and the villain wisdom. Imagine how that would shake out.

@@saphiriathebluedragonknight375 Likely a game where he outright wins because he tricks you into helping him that has a recurring mini-boss that you only get the good ending if you outright lose to them.
Although we can't really be sure. Zelda constantly has Wisdom but has pulled some seriously pants on head stupid shit. After all, in Ocarina of Time she flat out reveals herself in a display of magic to Link and gets promptly captured. What was stopping her from whispering in his ear?
She surrenders to Zant in Twilight Princess which is intelligent at first. But there's no request of Midna and Link who can clearly escape to carry a message and start coordinating with her forces outside? Couldn't she have given some sign of favour that would let Link rally the troops and be all the more ready for the final fight?
In Minish Cap the obviously Evil Cackling lunatic that looks like he's outright trying to look evil but is too goth for even that isn't immediately retreated from and she gets turned to stone for it. Though full points for getting Link a shield and I will go a bit easier because she's a child so young that no one bats an eye at her running around like she's hyper.
In Link to the Past, why isn't she in disguise on top of simply hiding in the church? That would have bought you some more time, especially if you go to places like the Lost Woods or the like. Ocarina of Time shows us that she can disguise herself VERY well so why not do that?

      We need more smart villains!

There was no triforce of wisdom, so Hilda fell for Yuga's guise. There was no triforce of power, so Yuga couldn't simply take what hyrule had by force. You're on the right mark but since their triforce is destroyed, their respective traits are too. Hilda is now a fool, Ravio is a coward, and Yuga is a trickster. (as opposed to an outright tyrant) without their signature strengths they adapt to other methods. We don't get to see how they are once their triforce returns so we don't know. @@twobearshighfiving7660 Nice idea. I personally don't see how that'd happen within the game's lore though. The Triforce pieces go to whoever most believes in its respective virtue. Like, if no one has the Triforce, and then someone splits it, the courage piece goes to whoever most strongly believes in courage. Getting the piece doesn't make them courageous. Maybe it helps but you have to /already/ embody that trait to get the piece in the first place.
Whether the Triforce is destroyed or not isn't going to change the personality of whoever would have wielded the pieces.
Outside a lore perspective though, I can see your idea being an intentional thing the devs did. A backwards Hyrule where the Triforce wielders are backwards to how you'd expect.

I think that Ravio posesses a different kind of courage. He is more like a behind - the - scene type hero. By the way, if anyone is familiar with the 80's LOZ cartoons, Link had black hair, a reference to how the early LOZ Games portrayed him. Possibly Ravio was a homage to this.

If we go solely based on that logic, then Ganon's Lorule counterpart was Yuga, who sought him out and fused with him. the villains of two worlds fused into one, becoming a single entity that threatened both worlds. It took both heroes, and both princesses, to defeat the villain(s) and save their worlds. I would love to see another game that followed ALBW, but happens just 10 years later, when Yuga and Ganon somehow return for both Hyrule's Triforce, and Lorule's Triforce, which causes Hilda and Ravio to reach out to Zelda and Link once more.

Lorule’s Triforce was destroyed long ago. As such, its destined holders were all effected: all of them were lacking in their traits.
Yuga sought out the Triforce because didn’t have the power to enact his plans, Hilda didn’t have the wisdom to see she was being duped into dooming both worlds out of desperation, and Ravio didn’t have the courage needed to face them both to save the day. All three used their more complete counterparts to make up for their deficiencies.

I always imagined that in Lorule the hero pocessed the triforce of wisdom, and the princess of courage. Hilda lacked the forsight that Zelda had, but had that same inner strength to face whatever came her way as Link, the same way that Ravio lacked courage, but had the smarts to realize Hilda was too far gone until he defeated her and Yuga. Ravio had that intellect that Hilda lacked and clearly missed at the end.

It’d be cool if Linkle was canon. Especially she’s a Hero, too. Just from a different source. While the Links may have the Triforce, Linkle has her compass, which is something I’d like to see explored. Also, it’d be pretty great if the Anouki came back

Courage isn't the absence of fear. Courage is the ability to take action despite one's fear. By that logic, Luigi is genuinely courageous, despite his "scaredy cat" persona. He has faced his fears three times already.

Nevertheless, it took a tremendous amount of courage for Ravio to find Link in Hyrule. There was no stopping Yuga and the first time I played the game, I was mesmerized by his overwhelming power. Once he merged with Ganon, I thought Link was going to die. However, when I faced him in combat, and managed to finish him off, I never knew Ravio would confess to something like that.
