  • Long time no speak dear people!
    I haven't uploaded in a while because I was going through quite a bit life change. I have moved from the small seaside town of Bognor Regis to the city of Bristol! I have moved for a new job and hopefully better oportunities for wildlife photography and making videos for you all.
    Speaking of which, this is the first from my new location. I want to bringing you at least one video a month from now on but hopefully two. Though obviously this is very often dependant on the wildlife playing ball. This is my fourth attempt at making a video here so I hope it doesn't disappoint.
    Please let me know what you think and ask as many questions as you would like in the comments below.

      Thank you for the comment. It's great to hear you have made a new discovery. Thats the great thing about wildlife in my opinion, you are always finding and learning about something new. Hopefully you get to see one yourself now you can keep an eye out for them.

    Good to see you back Matt,Enjoyed the video. I moved from Torquay in Devon to Perth Australia 8 years ago, don't miss your weather, although was 106 degrees here yesterday.
    I mostly specialize in birds and wildlife and really love it. A couple of days ago I photographed 2 birds for the first time. A red tail black cockatoo and the Rainbow bee eater.
    It's amazing when you go out and see something you weren't expecting. Keep the videos coming.

    Great video! So wonderful to see a true wildlife photographer who waits for the wildlife to come to him. Thank you for setting a terrific example. If the wildlife changes its behaviour due to your presence, you're too close. So happy to have found you. New subscriber from Canada :)

    • @MattGouldphotography
      @MattGouldphotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats it! If the wildlife reacts to you then you are too close or you have not hidden yourself well enough. Which admittedly can sometimes be a case of learning from your mistakes when it comes to hiding and waiting. But as long as you are not chasing it i think you can go home happy even if you have no photographs for that day. Thank you for watching and i am glad to hear you agree.

    Thanks for sharing this video. In India the winter season is in full motion. In my locality where I live the minimum temperature is between 8 to 9 degree in winter. My passion is birding & bird photography.In winter season several migratory bird spices like Northern Pintail, Ruddy Shelduck, Northern Shoveler, Common teal, Ferruginous duck, Gargani, Common Shelduck, Red-creasted Poachard , Tufted duck ,Blue Throat, Siberian Rubythroat , Taiga Flycatcher and many more visit in our locality. Seeing your dedication and love for photographing birds gives me a immense pleasure because we are birds in same feather. Hats off to you.

    I took a photo of a Dipper myself last week, the second sighting in my 70 years.i can't get down like you did as I would never get up again. I liked the perspective you get from being at the level of the subject and with the flexible all angle viewing screen I can get similar angles. Thanks for a great video.

    Wow. Nice shots. I have a 80d and sigma 150-600mm Contemporary. Is there any advice to what settings you use. An also to use flash for humming bird shots.

    • @MattGouldphotography
      @MattGouldphotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hiya, I have no experience with humming birds to be honest but I am not a huge fan of using flash on fast moving animals. The settings would heavily depend on the kind of photo you want to get and the light at the time. But as long as you get the eye sharp you can usually get away with anything. The general rule of thumb is a shutter speed the same as your focal length so I would say around 1/800 minimum (taking your cameras crop factor into account). Hope this helps!

    Glad to see your videos again Matt. I do 95% of my nature photography around the small Goffs park pond in Crawley and tend to stand in one spot for hours and let things unfold in front of me. As I study their behaviour it makes my photography that much easier although you can never go out and predict what will turn up. That's why nature photography is never boring.
    Your videos are always true to life and you show that the photographs take time and a lot of effort to produce the results you are looking for. The dipper was brilliant and his body ended up a lot drier than yours!
    Looking forward to the next instalments next year. Thank you. Happy New Year Matt.

    amazing video, I admire your willingness to get wet and full of Sh*t to get the shot!
    are you using Aperture priority?
    when you were talking about the grey wagtail I was sure I could hear a Kingfisher out there somewhere.
    lastly what camera do you use?
    keep up the great videos.

      Hi Leon, thank you for the comment and the kind words!
      I tend to use manual but sometimes turn ISO to Auto and adjust the exposure compensation in relation the bird :).
      Quite possibly, there are a lot about, possibly worth another video! :)
      I use a 5DIV :) I do have a full gear video on my channel :).
      And thank you i will try to :D

      Wildlife is often off the charts i find. The river was deep in a woodland and in a deep ditch on a cloudy day so quite extreme. It is the 5DIV. I have a gear video on my channel by the way if you want to know more about what i use :)

    I like how you leave the camera rolling so we can see the subject too. I did not catch the name of the bird. But i did not think that it could move a big rock like that. Good Job!

    Sorry, I just bumped my iPad & my reply was sent. I was saying our oldest National Park was replete with bird life. So where I live, Como, in the Sutherland Shire, birds of all sizes are part of everyday scene. I witnessed a smart kookaburra fly to were a group of us were sitting & skilfully picked a piece of ham out of a sandwich in someone’s hand. Lyrebirds are common in the Park. Anyway, I enjoyed your videos & admired your patience & perseverance. I’m looking forward to more of your videos.

      Hi Robert! Yeah I was lucky enough to visit Aus a year or two ago. It's incredible the amount of birdlife you have there and how comfortable it seems to be with humans. I was doing a bit of a road trip at the time but would love to go back and really spend some time in places like the blue mountains and absorb the wildlife. I did manage to tick off the lyrebirds (both species) whilst i was there though ;). Thanks for watching !

      Hi Adnan. Sadly I don't give out exact locations as I don't want places ruined by too many people visiting. I also don't have any from Aus as I wasn't there long. However, I would highly suggest visiting the Blue mountains. It's an incredible place!
      I hope you enjoy your trip!
