- We had a question on another video about how @treehouseguitars does a bolt on neck with his ember series guitars. Because they have no sound hole it is hard to get the bolt in let alone tighten and loosen them. So if you are also curious then here you go. #guitarbuilding #handmade #boltonneck #retro #fholeguitar
Great idea! Love it! 😊
Thanks! Works like a charm!!
Fascinating!
Thanks for sharing!
Awesome ideas guys !!! ....to play "devils advocate" here....why not just glue the neck in with some Titebond....I know it's a bigger problem if a reset is required but not an impossibility ?
Haha, wellllll… I guess I’m just a bolt-on neck kinda guy. I like how easy it is to service if/when it needs work done. :)
A bellvue washer under the screw heads would keep the screw tight when the wood shrinks. I made a mandolin using a concert scale ukulele kit. It has F holes also the neck uses one quarter twenty cap screw and the long allen wrench cost me fifty six dollars. Is this guitar going to have a pin bridge?
The Belleville washer is a good idea - I hadn’t thought of that. Though I’ve only ever had the bolts loosen on one guitar (from wood compression I’m sure). I tend to use a more dense mahogany for the heel block and it resists denting pretty well with the large headed bolt.
I’ll have to keep the Belleville washer in mind 🤔
This guitar gets an adjustable floating bridge with a tailpiece so no pinned bridge.
@@treehouseguitars I put a fender washer behind the bellvue to keep it from sinking into the soft mahogany.
