    6:30 the story has it's own page because this is the only full length novel he ever wrote. So it's seperated from his stories

    I own this same book & I absolutely *LOVE* it!
    It has the total 💯 gothic “Edgar Allan Poe” feel to it. I love the leather binding, the front & back cover, & the overall layout of the book.
    It’s a nice, detailed & heavy book.
    Unlike some “Complete” publications, this one *IS* actually a “Complete Tales & Poems of Edgar Allan Poe.” It has every single known & published work of Edgar Allan Poe, including his novel, which towards the end of the book. “The Masque of the Red Death,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” & “Annabel Lee” are my favorites. Of course I love The Raven, but everybody does. Even non-Edgar Allan Poe fans love The Raven.
    *_Edgar Allan Poe is one of my favorite American writers/poets of all time & he always will be._*

    Thanks for this! I've just bought some more classic works for my collection (Sherlock Holmes, Austen and Shakespeare), and I thought I'd like to get a Poe collection next. This edition caught my eye. Now I feel for sure it's the one. Can't wait to read it!

      @@FoolishFishBooks Oh, actually the Austen I have is the MacMillan Collector's Library set. They are more of a pocket edition, so not for everyone. But I don't have a problem with smaller text, and they are quite lovely!

    Awesome! Thank you!!! I'm a huge fan of Poe's works and I've read many of them in my language. Now it's time to try to read Poe in English as it should be read, especially his poetry.

      @@FoolishFishBooks He really is the greatest of all times! Like da Vinci but in literature. His writing is absolutely amazing, although takes some time to undestand his thinking and the meaning of words because he also uses archaic too. Some stories are easier but some others really need 2 or 3 times reading to understand to its fullest. Plus he was a pioneer in genres, with his finest work Eureka. I'm from Greece and i'm so fascinated about how much he liked and studied the ancient Greeks, Plato mostly...like another one did, H.P. Lovecraft. Those two are my top favorite writers :)

    I don’t want to be rude, but you do make way too many lip sounds between words. If you’ve never heard of the sensory condition known as Misophonia, it’s when some people are highly sensitive to certain sounds, such as chewing or pencil tapping or any kind of weird, wet or repetitive sounds. Coupled with OCD and Tourette syndrome, it’s not pretty and it was all I could do to finish the video because I’m interested in getting into Poe’s work.
    So maybe consider being aware of the sounds you’re ignorant of, because not everyone enjoys having to listen to so many mouth sounds, and unfortunately, some of us have misophonia so bad to the point where we can’t even socialize with our fellow humans.

    • @FoolishFishBooks
      @FoolishFishBooks  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tell me five years ago? You're talking to a creator who has made over a thousand videos since this one, I think this was like my second or third video ever... I assure you, I know about the mouth sounds 😂🙏

  • @EricDG326
    @EricDG326 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought this edition. I don’t like it all that much.
    First of all, it does not contain the work that I most was looking for when I purchased it. Edgar Allan Poe’s last work: The Lighthouse. I don’t care if it was never finished (though some have speculated it’s abrupt ending is evidence of the death of the narrator and it is, in fact, complete). It also does not include The Journal of Julius Rodman. If works such as these are not included, then this volume cannot call itself “THE COMPLETE TALES AND POEMS of Edgar Allan Poe”.
    Also, there are frequent (and I truly mean frequent) occasions where it is simply wrong. I read it along with audiobooks, and upon encountering a mistake, I figure it must be those of the readers. Then I read it along with a different audiobook. The same error occurs. Another audiobook, another instance of the mistake. It happened so many times that I could no longer conclude it was the readers in the wrong, but this book. For example, in this edition’s transcription of The Raven, the words run thus “But the silence was unbroken, and the *darkness* gave no token” and in every other transcription, performance, or reading of The Raven, the words run thus “But the silence was unbroken, and the *stillness* gave no token”. Putting the word “darkness” in place of the word “stillness” is simply wrong. And for an error like this to occur in EAP’s most famous poem is simply unacceptable. I encounter errors such as these frequently in this book. In every other short (or, at least, very nearly every one) I have found this edition omits, inserts, or changes words. Sometimes, even entire sentences are omitted or inserted. If the works are not as he wrote them, then this volume cannot call itself “The Complete Tales and Poems OF EDGAR ALLAN POE”

      I believe the Library of America edition has all of the incomplete works.
