After Earnhardt passed, I had to become a fan of Dale Jr. when he retired, Jeff Gordon was my guy! When Gordon retired, I rode with Harvick because I felt he was one of the last ones of that early 2000s generation when I was a huge fan of NASCAR! From watching the young kid takeover the 29 car ( formerly 3) until now, watching him retire, It’s really a bittersweet moment! The last of the Mohicans for me!
In 2001 Kevin Harvick was thrust into a position to fill the impossible void left by Earnhardt Sr. yet he somehow did when all us #3 fans needed it most. I don’t know of anyone else other than possibly Jr. that could have done it as well.
He continued to mature into a great racer, a NASCAR Champion, the unofficial leader of the drivers, and someone who stood up for what is right even if it went against NASCAR. You sir are a true leader and champion.
Although it will seem so wrong not having you on the track, at least we will still get to see you in the tv booth. Enjoy your retirement from full time driving and I hope you have a long life ahead of you full of enjoyment and success. #4EVER
