Props to you jake. He gave you guff, and you responded by offering to help him. He escalated it again, and you just left. Great fish. Thanks for sharing your content. I have grown as a kayak angler in terms of skill and taking safety seriously as i have watched your channel.
I fish this spot pretty often, it was one of the first spots I’ve fished after moving into the area last March. Last year, I caught my pb (at the time) there at 5.6 as well. Anybody with a map and basic knowledge of small mouth bass behavior can tell you there’s going to be fish there early spring. At its prime, that spot has bank fisherman packed tight with multiple boats on each pillar. I’ve seen fights between bank fisherman and boaters and boaters vrs boaters. Last week some catfisherman threw a sinker at me “for getting to close to his lines”. To say all that pressure is due to social media and your videos is nuts. Just like hunting. If you don’t want to see other fishermen I suggest not fishing at a spot that has the easiest access, at one of the highest population density centers on the river. Nice fish Jake. I was pumped when you posted it on insta and it’s cool to see its backstory.
THANK YOU! This is my point I was trying to make to the man when I said "Man, it's too late". I fish here often out of convenience, it's close to home. But, I can go anywhere up or down river and pattern the fish the same and be able to catch them. When I showed up this morning, I took the last parking spot, I had fished water in front and behind folks. I didn't have a bad interaction until this fella decided to start telling me what to do and not to do with my photos. If you look through the comments here, he has replied a couple times. He has some points, he makes a valid argument BUT, he is missing the point. He has now resorted to taking personal shots, so that gives you an indication to his character. He had to know this was coming... But oh well, I'm gonna keep on fishing, making videos and enjoying this amazing river we have. No one will keep me from that joy or dictate how I celebrate it.
"Throw a whopper plopper over here" was a good one haha. What exact crankbait rod were you using? I like how it loaded up and I'm look for a new rod for smaller cranks like that.
Nice fish Jake! That guy was a Tool ! Next time I would not respond to him. I figured out a long time ago to ignore stupid 😂. And if he won’t shut up I just say im 63 and I only have one fight left in me and I won’t waste it on you! Lol 😂
Nice fish, man! That guy could have been a lot more tactful, but I would have to agree with his sentiment. What benefit is there in showing specific spots? There's certainly a cost. Either way, I enjoy the content.
Yeah I definitely see where he is coming from. Especially since I have used youtube videos to find new fishing spots from guides and kayak fishermen haha.
I get that, honestly... considering where this fish was caught, there was no hiding the location. It wasn't until he decided to tell me what to do with my content that I decided to do the exact opposite. There's a cost to it, sure. Since then, I've seen so many people, even other youtube personalities and social media influencers go to this spot, chasing the bite, trying to recreate it. It doesn't matter if its here or any other creek up and down the Susquehanna, there will be fish there this time of year. The downside to this location is the accessibility of it. The amount of pressure it gets will certainly affect it though, I can agree with that. The fish will adapt though, they always do.
I didn't think he was out of line personally. Nothing wrong at all with filming where you fish and teaching others and all that, but when you specifically name the location of a community hole, the conditions/time of year you fish it in, etc you're making a decision for the community that fishes that particular area to burn that spot for the entire internet to see without their consent. Not hating, just food for thought.
Exactly. I always ask...who benefits? Maybe a new angler who wants to find where to fish but they miss out on the fun of finding a spot 🤔 The costs outweigh the benefits.
I can appreciate that mindset. I don't typically name where I am, there's no benefit to doing so. In this instance, I named it specifically because the fella told me not to. Right or wrong, I did it for that reason.
Jake 1st off let me say congrats on the fish. I wasn't agitated about u catching fish, it was more that you guys were blocking the ramp. It was also a bit distasteful that you kept such beautiful smallmouth out of the water for so long just so you could share it with the world. I have been fishing this location among others my entire life and since the social media craze the volume of people at this location has gotten out of control. It might take you a few years to realize the severity of ur actions but unfortunately the natural resource can only sustain so much pressure. I have no issues with you or ur channel but blowing up local spots for the world to see is just bad for the resource. Ps once your boat is over 16' u are not required to wear a life jacket.
You had plenty of room to launch your boat, please take your tears elsewhere. The mouth of the Conodoguinet is a community hole, everyone knows about it. If you have a problem with him blowing up the spot, go fish elsewhere. Jake takes great care of the fish he catches and releases them in a timely manner.....can anyone else smell the jealousy in the air?
Typical for kayakers to hold fish out of the water way longer than necessary, we had a guide trip on the susquahanna right after one of the big hobie tournaments and saw 15-20 fish dead with our guide. Wont name him for obvious reasons but he said its typical to see multiple fish die due to kayak guys having to get that perfect picture for there tournament measurement system. They all claim to be safe and handle fish well, but when cash an clout is on the line that fish dont mean a thing to them.
You should educate yourself, all boaters regardless of boat length are required to wear a USCG Approved PFD between November 1st and April 30th. Additionally, you are NOT allowed to run any higher than idle speed, causing a wake, in a creek that small. Both due to erosion concerns as well as tight maneuverability and the likelihood of other boats (or kayaks) present. I'd prefer not to hear your congrats now, I didn't keep that fish out of the water for any significant length of time. Both during transport from where I caught it and in between photos, I was holding that fish under the water to ensure it swam off just fine. As you could tell, it swam off with a great amount of strength. Are you also implying that two kayakers being at the FAARRRR edge of the ramp somehow impeded you getting into the water? Because if so, you should turn in your driver's license on top of your boaters license. This is a community hole Angry, this place is well known by many many people. Never once have I listed the name of this location in the past, I hardly ever list any locations in any of my videos. I tend to be very vague in where I am. I listed this one special for you... you're welcome.
@JakeHarshman this will be my last comment, as your goal is to keep the drama going so you can finally become someone. I'm not going to argue with you. Read a book and get off the boat ramp with your average smallmouth. The rest of us would like to fish as well.
Jake: Goes to a community hole 50 yards off a boat ramp.
Dude in a duck boat: Stop blowing up MY spot.
basically... right?!?
Props to you jake.
He gave you guff, and you responded by offering to help him.
He escalated it again, and you just left.
Great fish. Thanks for sharing your content. I have grown as a kayak angler in terms of skill and taking safety seriously as i have watched your channel.
My baseline is sarcasm but I do try to be professional on the water because of the companies that I represent

Dang man that was a Tank… Congrats on getting cited.. Dang big fish!!! Dude at ramp def had some issues.
Curious how close to PB in weight was that one?
a couple ounces off
"Throw a whopper plopper over here" was a good one haha. What exact crankbait rod were you using? I like how it loaded up and I'm look for a new rod for smaller cranks like that.

It was the TFO Taction Bass Moving Bait 704
Little cameo. Gonna need some kickback 😂
HAHAHAHA
Heading up to walk the Sussy with a buddy and our teenage boys. Haven't made this trip in three years.
Walking is about all you can do right now
Great! Next you’ll be telling people about Sherman’s or the Juniata! How dare you! 😂
I have a trip planned to Shermans very soon!
Just curious on boating rules regulations. What are the rules on boats in creeks? Such as making a wake?
They can not run on plane inside of 100ft of a shoreline
@@JakeHarshman So for example the penns creek? Had a jet boat fly up through there. That would be against regulations correct?
Most likely, yes
Nice fish Jake! That guy was a Tool ! Next time I would not respond to him. I figured out a long time ago to ignore stupid 😂. And if he won’t shut up I just say im 63 and I only have one fight left in me and I won’t waste it on you! Lol 😂
I don't think he was a tool or stupid... but I also won't order another grown man to do or not do something in this instance. It is what it is.
Ps: Jake, I don’t fish your river a lot because of where I live and I have heard of that spot! Lol
Nice fish, man! That guy could have been a lot more tactful, but I would have to agree with his sentiment. What benefit is there in showing specific spots? There's certainly a cost. Either way, I enjoy the content.

@JubyMan34Matt Bingo! I certainly don't blame you though haha! I would do the same.

Solid smallie Jake!!
Thanks
Look at you being nice. 👍.
I try
Ha angry fisherman really his TH-cam name too? 😂😂😂
Apparently...
All the smallmouth in the river are at that spot how dare you. Well I guess I will have to suck it up and fish were I am at.
Hahahahaha
That’s no secret spot anyone with google maps on their phone can find that spot.
I didn't think he was out of line personally.
