Just caught your comment about 9ct gold, here in UK, 9ct is very common and is still manufactured.
Our jewellery has now been standardised to basically 3 carat types, 9, 18 and 22 carat.
A bit of information that you may or may not know. Any item over 1g has to be sent to an assay office to be checked it has the minimum gold quality to be marked at a specific carat.
If you look up the Assay marks you can determine where it was tested and the age of a piece

I know exactly what you mean about trying to find that unique item that works for you and your store. Here in town, I only do the rare thrifting trip, and it's only to a local non-profit whose mission I very much believe in and love to support! Otherwise, I've actually had to venture out of state (waaaay out of state!) to source goods and then have them shipped in. But... comparing that bulk, inbound shipping charge to driving around hunting stuff - I feel as if I'm doing better. I have more time to do the listing/selling part of work, and I have enough energy to enjoy both sides of life (work and home) without feeling beat down from all that driving around, picking.

Surprise surprise yet another great video! 😁 Thank you again for sharing and adding value to the TH-cam world, your efforts are so appreciated!
Love the new feature of "Can you name it?"... What a great way to test knowledge and gain it as well!
Congrats on the business arrangement... Very exciting!!! It came about in a different way but I'm doing the same sort of thing and agree that having these conversations can really lead to blessed opportunities!
Merry Christmas to you and yours! May you finish 2022 strong and have great adventures in the year to come! 😊

Cameos are traditionally from conch shell. That isn't coral 😊

Rusty...quick fun story on the Iron Cross. In the 60s, they made a resurgence in popularity with the youth and specifically California and surfing fans. When I was 11, I went steady with a boy for 2 days and he gave me his "surfer's cross" on a chain. I think I wanted the necklace more than him...! But I did give it back after the newness wore of 24 hours later! I'm much more mature now. haha! It was silver with a black enamel cross inlaid in the middle. I thought it was "cool"!
BTW - that Iron Cross most likely is as old as you say because it doesn't have the maker's mark on it! What a find!

Gosh...I learn so much from your experience. I hope I have the time to get back into this. I do want to share one possibly correction on the description of your cameos. I could be wrong, but I think they are carved from sea shells, like large multi-layered conch shells. Please check that out to be sure. That's something I learned about 55 years ago, so there is no telling if that has morphed in my brain in those years. Coral sounds more exotic though...

On the last video I watched you gave the tip to use the clear fingernail polish kind of like glue for stones that may have fell out of your costume jewelry, I wanted to say that it's also good for the whole piece of jewelry if you paint the clear nail polish over the whole piece and let it dry it does preserve it longer so you can get more wear out of it before it actually changes colors or in my case irritates my skin because it isn't real.

Hey cousin, most of the people that buy scrapbooks yes they buy them for the dicots and also for the Victorian trading cards that are usually in them. I buy them Victorian scrapbooks for this reason that is how I know but awesome video cousin can’t see what comes out next.

The cameos…it’s carved shell, not coral. The coral cameos are a dark orange in color and no striations in the color.

Hi Rusty. I was wondering what your approach would be if you found a really valuable diamond that was over one carat. How would you get the most money for it? Have it appraised and take it to an auction house? Sell it to a jeweler?

That new idea takes all the good stuff away from the regular Joe like me looking for stuff .it's already gone because you cut off the supply of antiques from getting to the floor. I don't buy online at all .only in person. So what about the people who only buy in person.? How do I get around that

    • @RustyTheReseller
      @RustyTheReseller  ปีที่แล้ว +3

Chris, all I can say is that if you want to succeed (in any business) you have to work hard and be creative in how to be better than your competition. If I come up with a strategy to improve my business, it's not about making things harder for others, it's about trying to be smarter about what I do. Very few businesses are interested in these partnerships so I seriously doubt what I do will have any impact on you. However, as the landscape changes, and it always does, you will need to find ways for yourself to stay ahead...that's kind of the entire point of this channel...to educate and give people ideas as to how they can buy and sell.
