    Yes that is the BASILICA,. The basilica, in the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches, a canonical title of honour given to church buildings that are distinguished either by their antiquity or by their role as international centres of worship because of their association with a major saint, an important historical event.

      A basilica is directly attached to the holly sea. Meaning it belongs to the pope himself while a cathedral is the seat the local bishop

    There are no living spaces that appear to be near or around this huge building. Sad that it appears empty most of the time, with few living within distance to see the Church building.
    And when many visit, they are charged a fee. Is this what the Catholic Religion has turned into these days?

    Is this Basilica another "Palace of the Ceasars" Rome where gladiatorial contests and human and animal hunts were set as a theatrical spectacle for the emperors ?. These were the iconic symbols for such "colosseums"

    • @62peppe62
      @62peppe62 ปีที่แล้ว

      The basilica had nothing to do with gladiator fights. It was originaly a place where justice courts or business would take place. When emperor Constantine legalized Christianity, the first new churches were built according ti the architefcure of the previus basilicas.

    The Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix basilica, located in Yamoussoukro, the political capital of Côte d'Ivoire, is one of the largest Catholic churches in the world and the tallest Christian building in the world. It was built by the will of the country's first president, Félix Houphouët-Boigny, in 1983. Its appearance is reminiscent of that of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. 🇨🇮💪🏾

    I love your content. However, knowledge is power. That church was built as a symbol of Western religious dominance over the country. Missionaries did not come to educate but to profit. Look what Leapold did in the Congo or what France, England, Germany, The Dutch and the Portaguese have all done. We cannot continue to celebrate their atrocities in the guise of Large Churches.

      The Basilica was actually commissioned by the late Hophouet Boigny, a former president of Cote d'Ivoire.
      It is the tallest domed cathedral but i understand the catholic church asked for its overall height to be less than st Peter's out of respect.
      The faith is part of the Abrahamic faiths that came from the middle east with close proximity and contact with Africa
      However as the full name depicts Roman C. is very much influenced by european culture.

    • @oyafemi2173
      @oyafemi2173 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@kwawkwansah2452 Dear Sir, I am aware who commissioned that church, President Hophouet Boigny was a beloved President who he had very close ties to France. The French do not have our interests at heart. Who do you think paid for it to be built? Thank goodness our younger generation are smarter and wiser than the old guard who favor following behind the West instead of stand in front.

    • @africanmindsetseries
      @africanmindsetseries 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oyafemi2173 Thanks for trying to open the eyes of our people. The majority of Africans do not even realise the mental and economic bondage we are in as Africans. The systems we operate in are all designed by the West to uphold western supremacy and.. religion is at the heart of it all. They gave us religion, told us to build our treasures in heaven whilst they pillage our resources to build their economies here on earth. We must wake up!!!
      That not withstanding the basilica is indeed a magnificent edifice... but a waste of money in my view. I was living in ivory Coast when it was built and opened!
      We should spend tax payers money to build african monuments like the statue of renaissance in senegal.
