1st generation and 2nd generation kpop idols (those who debuted in 2000-2010) went through a lot... Leeteuk from Super Junior talked about having to steal some money to feed his younger bandmates. The older SM groups like Super Junior and SHINee, they used to live in overcrowded dorms and they didn't have phones or decent meals in their early years. Baekhyun from EXO mentioned recently how much better his SM juniors (NCT) are fed nowadays... Older SM idols (Super Junior, SHINee, TVXQ, BoA), they never enjoyed any "big 3 privilege", in fact they were the ones who made SM a big company so their junior groups like NCT and Aespa can live in better conditions from day 1 now

The mark in super m is Mark Lee from NCT! GOT7's Mark is Mark Tuan. The mistreatment of GOT7 is even worse than portrayed in the video, jyp himself has insulted/talked down on them in the public. Just now it came out that idol room actually reserved a special episode just for GOT7 to appear with their you calling my name comeback because they really admire got7, but their staff refused the opportunity, so the idol room team had to find another group to fill in in a short time and then when they had already found one suddenly the staff came back and wanted GOT7 on there after all but it was already too late. And so many more issues...like mark being forbidden from visiting his family in LA because of a schedule that got cancelled last minute so then he couldn't go home but didn't have anything to do either. In the entire year of 2020 they only promoted for less than a month. There was also one time in 2016 where their schedule was packed impossibly, so they appeared two hours late to a fanmeeting and fans waited in the cold and dark for so long. The members were visibly upset and were apologising for something that wasn't their fault. And so much more...

When you say about why JYP promoting solo career like Jackson´s and not the main group, its because Jackson create his own label (TEAM WANG) and he pay for all his activities, music videos, music production, etc... So Jackson solo career is independent from the korean label (JYP).

I was familiar with most of those stories so I just scanned much the video. I was a little surprised that The East Light and The ArK/Khan weren't included.
As far as I know there's still a lawsuit going on about the physical abuse experienced by boy band The East Light.
After releasing only a debut single called The Light in 2014 The Ark was disbanded by Music K after a year despite the group being dubbed "the female BTS" and the leader being called "little BoA." The Light is one of the best debut songs ever released by a girl group. The MV was based a true story about the Sewon Ferry tragedy and the song remains a source of comfort to many people. Music K's reason for disbanding The Ark was probably the main singer's hiatus due to surgery for vocal nodes but the group continued to perform without her and the disbandment isn't really explicable or excusable. And if perpetrating perhaps the worst waste of talent in kpop history wasn't enough, it happened again in a cruel bit of deja vu straight out of a kdrama. Two members of The Ark re-debuted as a duo called Khan in 2018 under Maroo Entertainment and were again disbanded a year after their debut single. Maroo was so clueless that despite fans begging for a fanclub the girls were told they had to attract more fans before they'd be allowed to start a fanclub or even have a fandom name. How they were supposed to attract more fans without releasing more music or having a fanclub for fans to join are questions that don't seem to have occurred to Maroo.

I’m not even a fan (just a casual listener who recognises talent) and I cannot believe how JYP and his rich ass treated them. I mean there is a lot worse then what this video states! How he speaks to them and discourages their talent is just damn rude!

  • @me-zk4hf

Fr You can't make video about mistreatment when there was not mentioned MBK Ent at least once
(T-ARA bullying scandal; DIA's whole career is a bot controversial especially the Somyi thing but mainly we see this with their 2nd gen groups but I don't know much about them).
So pls listen to Woowa, Hug U and WooWoo because the girls shouldn't be treated like a piece of sh*t and not even having any success :-(
But also Momoland definitely belongs on this list. I mean today there is this Nancy Issue (pls support her) and manipulating the show results of Finding Momoland and the conpany taking much much money from the members
AND because u were shocked due to this 1%-income thing with TCRNG: this low payment is normal in some agencies. An example would also be SM Ent. who pay their artists with just 5% of the whole income but there are also agencies like YG and JYP who pay their artists with around 40-50% of the whole income

This short clip they watched was just a quick money-maker if you ask me. You can't compare low promotion efforts to actual mistreatment like that that groups like X-5, TRCNG, B.A.P or Tee East Light or even Crayon Pop faced .
That 5% thing is wrong through, the 5% are just for physical sales, artist recieve 40% for events and 70% for overseas promotions.
It's still fairly low comparing it to other agencies like YG or Starship who pay 50-70% or even 50-80% but still better than Chrome who almost don't pay at all.

Despite the unfair treatment, many idol trainees still dream of debuting. The agencies know that there are still many other trainees and use them. If they are treated unfairly, they should not tolerate it and complain, but they can't say because they want to debut. It is very sad, and the agency's sentiment is bad. It's like exploiting a dream. The K-pop idol market is totally red ocean. This is likely to continue to happen. An organization like the K-pop Idol Association should be established.

Some of the info in this video is wrong. For example, what she said about PRISTIN's Kyla was not true. She was never forced to gain weight and look 'curvy', that was just a ridiculous theory some people made. She was just a 15-year-old girl whose body naturally did not meet the expected standards of idols. She received a lot of hate due to her weight so people assumed that was why she disappeared and the group was on hiatus. It was actually because she had a head injury from when they filmed their second music video which the company hid from fans until Kyla's brother revealed that she moved back to the US to recover with her family. The company ended debuting a sub-unit, PRISTIN V, with 5 members which gained some attention but then the entire group was put on a yearlong hiatus in which they were banned from interacting with fans. Keep in mind that girls won a few rookie of the year awards so they were expected to be very successful making the hiatuses even more illogical. Fans begged the company for any updates and even showed up to the building and covered it with post-it notes demanding answers which the company removed and refused to respond to their inquiries. When the news of the group disbanding broke out, they were in the middle of working on their next album and weren’t told in advance about it. They only found out through articles at the same time as fans. It was heartbreaking especially since some of the members trained for a long time. One of them, Xiyeon, had trained for about 10 years starting from when she was 9 years old. Some of the girls went on to join another company and debuted as HINAPIA but the company suffered losses due to COVID and they had to disband. They were extremely talented having powerful vocalists, strong rappers, and exemplary performers. It was really a shame that their potential went to waste.

Both groups get along really well together for example IDLE's Minnie and CLC's Sorn are both Thai and know each other really well even in private. And I can't really enjoy IDLE's new comeback to its' fullest extent because of CUBE. CLC's Elkie started speaking up and I'm really proud of her, I hope the same thing does not happen to IDLE in the upcoming years :(

I believe the issue at JYP is the company's work structure. The company had all its departments (songwriting, marketing etc.) working for all groups as well as all company related things. The more groups & projects, the "thinner" the overview and support gets. GOT7 debut in 2014. Starting with the Twice debut in 2015 JYP gave new groups their own team for all departmental work. It's amazing work those individual teams do for Twice, Stray Kids, or Itzy. However, GOT7 was forgotten in all this.

    • @tabea9254
      @tabea9254 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Itzy is actually under the same division as GOT7 and while at least in the past it seems like their promotion was better than GOT7's, they are now coming back with an album and the promotion is absolutely horrible, seems now that GOT7 is gone the mistreatment carries on onto them... I'm guessing it's because jype is doing this survival show for another Boygroup now in despair to quickly gain back money from GOT7's departure, and he's using staff for that that's is actually needed for the group's he still has...

    • @ONITOPIA
      @ONITOPIA 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@tabea9254 A division is not like having their own team for just themselves. I don't know whether Itzy didn't get their own team and if why not. It works very fine for Twice and Stray Kids. Maybe it's gotten too expansive for JYP? I can only guess. I know very little about Itzy. It's much easier to know about the help the other groups get and how much creative freedom they enjoy.

I really don't know why div2 seems to not be able to do their job while twice and straykids teams do their job so well either...I do know jype has a lot of debt but even so a lot of requests fans have is actually not that expensive and it's simply their job to promote their groups well. Either way, GOT7 definitely has had it the worst and it always felt like there were some personal problems between them and jyp behind the scenes, even more so now that they can openly show just how happy they are to have left. I'm just relieved they're finally free and we can look towards their future with excitement. It makes me so happy to know they can now go the paths that THEY want and that they actually have companies behind them that support them fully.

HOW BADLY CLC ARE TREATED BY CUBE
    ENT.:
    > as a five years old group their promotions
consist only music shows, which is not
much. on the other hand, the rest of cube's
idol groups have billboards, ads, etc
    > clc's japanese debut with chanisma did
well, however cube have never released a
mv. they also have never given clc a proper
    promotion
    > cube is connected with a chinese label, where are all chinese members
included. elkie's name didn't appear on that
    list
    > since their debut clc had told that they
don't like cute concepts. cube continued
giving them cute songs with a barely no
    promo
    > there was a time when sorn's hair were
that damaged, so she had to cut them. sorn
    hates short hair on herself
    > clc in 2016 had filmed a reality show, also
elkie and sorn did so in 2018, however cube
    have never released that content
    > clc's devil couldn't chart on list bc it
wasn't added on itunes by cube. they didn't
even know that until a fan told sorn that.
sorn and seugyeon had talked to their
    company, but nothing has changed
    > sorn have been earning a lot less than the
other until she decided to talk about this
issue. thank to her, the others, thai artists
    started to earn more
    > cube have many times missed the
    opportunity to cle's success. examples?
    1. success after hobgoblin? -> hiatus and a
    comeback with a cute concept
    2. success after no?-> no promotions and
    two digitals
    3. attention on yeeun after good girl? -> no
    activities
    4. clc has been included on many concerts,
but they were also always removed from
    them later.
    > yeeun started trending after her
appearance on good girl, but cube did
nothing with that. why? well, cube wasn't
the one who sent her there, but the director
    who wanted her there
    > during me era teasers weren't added on
    youtube
    > their digitals: are made anyhow, with a
low budget, their outfits for stages were
    recycled
    > to the sky in 2018 was released as a
digital single, no mv and no promo
    > in 2018 clc started to add photos with
roses, sorn said their next comeback is
connected with flowers and she really likes
it. the girls were sooo excited, however a
year later we still didn't get anything
    > la vie en rose was supposed to be for clc.
they had almost everything prepared, but
then it was taken back from them sorn travels to thai using her own money
    to promote clc
    > half of cheshires know clc from sorn's
youtube channel, she cut her videos, buys
    the equipment and promotes herself
    > five years in and clc doesn't have any
lightstick, full album, world tour and
even fan colour. fan colour which cost
literally nothing and takes two seconds to
    announce
    > clc got on fansign a fanlight . sorn takes it everywhere, and the rest
of girls really like it. during devil era they
got some sticks and clc were happy bc they
    could see cheshires well
    > in 2018 elkie had her solo debut and
barely anyone knew about it, bc the song
had no promotions. elkie wrote the song
    in korean and
    composed it
    > eunbin was supposed to play in the drama
love is beautiful life is wonderful, which
turned out to be successful. cube didn't let
her saying the schedule doesn't match, but
for the next eunbin and clc did nothing at all
    > every artist from cube except clc has
season greetings and world audition video
    uploaded on cube's channel
    > in 2019 seungyeon started to upload her
monthly choreographies made by her. but
    after a while it stopped
    > while eunbin was in produce cube
announced that she will debut in clc so then
her position in rankings fell. she didn't get
concept video and couldn't promote with
    the rest of clc
    > their fanbase in thailand is quite big, so
sorn said that she will try take clc with her
using her own money to meet cheshires
    > when clc were told they won't have
comeback with la vie en rose, they thought
it was their fault. so they spent the whole
night in sorrow making handmade scented
candles as an apology gift for fans
    > in 2018 although their hiatus time clo
got an award trip to thailand, they were
so thankful and sorn cried. even though it
    wasn't actually anything big
    > cube doesn't restock clc's albums so
cheshires can't actually support the girls
    > international fanbase don't even have a
chance to stream or chart the digital songs

Fans complaints that Got 7s name is bigger globally than in south korea well now we know. JYPE does this to all their high earning groups, little to no solo schedule. What's toxic is, in the pandemic they can't go on tour, they're not given solo schedule like acting, modelling, commercial despite many many offers. So this giant group, basically dont have job for months. Good for them using the time to realize that they can stand up for themselves and decided to leave as team.

The reason groups mistreated after a while is because a new group is coming. The spotlight should be emptied for them. And company wants after its artist left company, artist should be in a position which he/she can not make any money. Because if artist gains money it means company management is meaningless. Companies want us to stan their artists as long as contract date, not more. So thats why in kpop company names are more known rather than artist names.

Easy explanation for GOT7: Their company made a mistake in their contract and thus the members were making a lot more money than the company JYPE itself. Members bought houses and cars only a year after debut. While that's good for the members, the company started getting lazy in later years with promotions and comeback preparation because they don't make much money from it.

Lets not forget that GOT7 debuted when JYPE was having financial problems and they basically saved the company thanks to their popularity. After that happened and they had Twice, they gave up on them so their fans had to pay for them to have ANY promotions.

Slave contracts like the first one used to be common, all 3 of the main entertainment companies,JYPE, SME and YGE, no longer charge for training and trainees are paid and given dorms and food, a lot of K-pop groups were left bankrupt by the old system, Crayon Pop for example made no money for themselves and weren't paid for their work overseas and were forced to work to pay off the training fees

My Ft island has been so mistreated that it wasn't even in this video. They started in 2007 but got paid in 2011 for the first time, after three years of being successful the company sent them to Japan for two years did good in Japan but at their return their fans had moved on. Fnc was promoting Cnblue, they tried but with no help from the agency is hard. Their concerts in the US and south America were so poorly managed, we knew about it because Lee Hong Ki promoted it on his social media and since he is an actor he went to variery shows and promoted. When they were leaving after 7 years the agency told them one of the members had 1 year still under contract so disband and leave or sign for 5 more years. With zero teasers for albums, zero support they did 12 years, scandal invaded them three members are still under fnc. Now that they are doing military service FNC is doing the same thing to Nflying...

I feel like division 2 is so messed up and It seems like they only care more about their girl groups. Sure at the beginning they care about GOT7 but as the time goes by, it’s all gone like they’re even having little to no promotions for their comeback. I mean when you have a group that is so popular and talented like GOT7 who can write and produce their own music by themselves, you should have treat them very nicely so that they will renew the contract when it ends and give you a lot of profit in the future. But all in all, I think it’s for the best and at least GOT7 are free now and can do whatever they want with their own project.
