I’ve noticed that my new 1.6 gallon toilet has a bigger flapper than the old toilets. I’m amazed at how well it flushes with very little water because of the increased water pressure from the bigger hole under the flapper.

The space between the seat and rim is important so air can be allowed to enter as water exits. A fat person making a seal would create a vacuum and an incomplete flush, so either they lift up or fart at the right time which pulls air and odors down with the water.

New toilets have 2 flappers keeping water trapped in the rim so it doesn't empty. With only 1.2 gals per flush it's getting hard to have enough velocity to complete a flush and clean bowl. With water trapped in the rim, water velocity is maintained without having the air getting in the way.

whats important that the bowl fills up at the same time the tank does. if the bowl doesnt fill(tube damaged or not installed properly) then the water just from the tank may have problems flushing and pushing the waste and water.
My 5 yr old asked how toilets worked. This video is PERFECT for children! Quick to the point excellent imagery and stated as pleasantly as possible! Highly recommend!

you missed the whole point... the water flow goes up the tube and then down the tube.. creating SUCTION that empties the bowl..

John needs some fiber. As for the toilet, you didn't finish explaining. ..you left out how it's a fixture with an integral trap. It uses an s-trap which is otherwise illegal in plumbing systems due to the way they siphon out the trap. Since they siphon out the trap, the trap must be primed again after each flush. That's why that little stream of water sprays down the hole in the stack the flapper is connected to. It's filling the bowl while the tank is filling with water to prepare for the next flush
There's even corn in the animated poop.

I have never seen a siphon jet here in Norway. Here most of the water comes from the front in the middle of the toilet and pushes it all down.
Toilet in norwegian is "Dass"

Could be a few things...
1) bad diet
2) flap is improperly adjusted
3) bad ventilation in the system
I work in a building supply company. A guy about 80 years old and his wife come in and are looking for a toilet that doesn't have much water in it. I ask the guy what the reason might be. He says that his balls hit the water in the bottom of the bowl! Honest to God. True story. I almost laughed in his face but he was serious. I sold him a handicap ( comfort height ). No problems.

Haha, nice video. Question: what if your compression fitting turns around, while the angle stop valve is fastening on the threads (and tape on it)? Help please. I can not turn on the main valve now. The pipe is too short to cut it off (and there is an ground block on it, which is obligated here).
Replace the hose with a braided flexible type, you shouldn't have to mess with shut off assembly, you can always tighten packing nut around shut off if leaking, use 2 wrenches.
@@publicmail2 thanks for the reply. I got it working by putting the nut really tight. There is still a small leak of about a drop per 3 seconds. I can not make it tighter, otherwise the pipe or valve will break. I called a real plumber. I hope he can fix it coming Thursday. At least I can turn on the main now and use the toilet, shower and kitchen faucet. I wish can replace the copper with flexible, but it is behind the tiles and in the wall etc. So I can't do that, unfortunately. But thanks for the suggestion.
photos.app.goo.gl/NaCxfnSMgkAkhVDf6 a picture is better than words I think. So the compression fitting nut is tightened all the way, but it is still leaking. If a loosen it, I have to shut off all water in the house. That's why I am installing stop cocks in the first place.
@@jwb6583 if you have at least 3/4 inch copper coming out of wall, cut it and push on a sharkbite at HD or lowes, just clean copper and push on that's it.
@@publicmail2 thanks for the reply again, this is a small 10mm copper pipe, here in NL, the smallest Sharkbite fitting is for 15mm. But thanks for the suggestion, I can use that for if I ever want to work in the toilet, there all the pipes are 15mm. I am going to sleep now, here in NL it is past 11pm.

I know a guy who had his balls momentarily flushed down the trap only to be returned after the flush stopped. He said it was not the pulling that was so painful but the twisting action, it took a minute for them to spin down which made them dry. It was 1 of those pressure power flush toilets.
