Definitely my favorite place to fly! Can’t beat free beach parking on the Vineyard and always a soft landing on grass. I get bravo clearance about 25% of the time out of KBVY.
Wow. I was just there recently and it seems like we went the same day. Nice you brought the pup. Can’t imagine sandy fur in the plane though 😮 Gorgeous bananza
Nice flight! I flew into KMVY from KFRG several years ago. Never heard of Katama. Looks like a beautiful place to visit! I agree with you on talking to ATC while VFR (I always get flight following when leaving the pattern). That's one thing I was exposed to from day one of my PPL training back in '98. My flight school was at Teterboro (KTEB), when there were still a few schools there. Class-D beneath the NY Bravo and you had to talk to Clearance Delivery and get a squawk code, prior to taxi. So you had no choice but to talk to ATC, lol. Best wishes for your daughter. I'm the only aviator in my family and none of my kids share the passion, although they've all flown with dad 🙂
Thanks @Redtail_Pilot. I remember the days when there were flight schools in Teterboro. Now, when I go there I am the only piston for miles. One of these days I’ll do a video in/out of KTEB. My daughter has caught the bug (yeah). She has soloed and is on track to get her private pilot’s license when she turns 17.
@@timetofly401 That's awesome! She definitely caught the "bug" lol. I was 32 by the time I could afford lessons, but I was born with the bug..haha. Growing up in Newark at the time, my dad used to take me and my siblings to EWR in the 70's, to watch the airliners. That was the best he could do to feed my passion. I really wish he lived to see me achieve my dream. I'm sure he would've been my first passenger. Looking forward to some TEB footage. I haven't been there in years, except on the outside, when I go watch the jets occasionally lol. I live in Bergen Co. roughly 25 mins away 🙂
Yeah. I feel like many pilots won't nudge ATC to get that clearance through the Bravo. That first controller wanted me to say I would stay below it and/or go around it. That said, when I let him know I'd like to go through it, he helped make it happen. You don't get if you don't ask...
You and me both! She has soloed and is working on her Private Pilot's license now (she's not old enough for the check ride until next March). She's flying out of Hampton, which is doesn't have a tower and despite loads of time flying w/ me, she's intimidated by the radio. Just the other day we were role-playing "controller and pilot" on a longer drive. She'll get there... thanks for the comment!

Yes - it was a fantastic day for it!

Great copilot! I thought we might hear some of her radio calls
