I think it would be different, despite what the similarities are. In BvS, Lex created Doomsday out of Zod. That wouldn't happen in this movie, here it would be an actual clone of Superman, and likely used to do more than simply 'fight on his behalf', such as maybe causing trouble out there to smear Superman's name (perhaps that 'conflict in the middle east, etc) and tarnish his growing 'Legacy' so to speak. Of course there would be action/an eventual clash with the actual Superman, so I do completely agree with the comments of it not being entirely new and why if it were true, some fans would be concerned that it's still more or less something akin to what we've seen before in some respects. But technically, it would be something we haven't seen before with Lex wielding a clone to do far more than just smash around with Superman.

And with 'Superman For All Seasons' being an influence, perhaps Lexcorp has manufactured Lex's 'Guardians of the City' and this could play into it, in addition to the clone giving a bad name to yet another rising hero that Lex despises. Who knows really, but there could be all kinds of interesting things like this in play in addition to the clone 'leak' that are more in-depth than just what this clone thing sounds like/looks to be on paper, as it does appear as an easy target of 'judging a book by it's cover' so to speak but it could be better than what most people think if it does turn out to be true :)
James is gonna make it very clear that good-hearted, relatable Superman comes out on top compared to evil, edgy Superman. I could really see this being not just a compelling story, but also a meta commentary about superheros can be good for the sake of being good and still be interesting.

i would be very surprised if they actually would reveal the entire Superman suit on the 18th because, that's when Superman made his comic debut on April 18th in Action Comics #1 so it would be pretty cool i'd admit, however, hopefully it doesn't get leaked

That being said - I would find it weird if there were a clone/evil Superman in Corenswet's first outing as Superman. Typically you would want to establish the character first and show who he is before you start subverting expectations. Given that you already have to set up both Superman and Clark Kent, it feels overly complex to introduce a third "Superman" at the same time you are laying the groundwork for both of Clark's identities. "Evil Superman" would be a better secondary villain for the second movie and beyond. On the third hand, since Gunn HAS confirmed that Lex is the primary villain, then who is Superman going to fight? Will it be Lex in the warsuit? His armored Lexcorp troops? It does feel like there's a plot element we're missing. Really looking forward to your Joker 2 trailer reaction/breakdown!

I do think the Like on Teen Titans being fake is a purposely kryptic response. James told us that this universe was inspired by JL Unlimited and Young Justice. So in my mind, clearly we will get a team of sidekicks that resemble Young Justice; however, I am not sure that it will be called YJ but it also doesn't make sense for them to be called Teen Titans because they all were not teens or did not stay teens. My theory is that we will see these characters age up from teens to adults in the DCU (possibly Dick starting off as Robin and become Nightwing later); much like we did in every season of YJ. I also believe that Damian, Blue Beetle, Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders) and Supergirl will be a part of the team.
Of course we are going to get a Teen Titans project, Gunn liking random comments is not this huge thing to latch on. He would have said someting about, if it was wrong, huge trades ain't writing stuff like this just because.

If Lex Luthor makes a Superman clone, it is called Bizarro. The Earth 3 evil Superman is called Ultraman. That would be a Multiverse storyline. The CW gave us Bizarro World. Pre-Crisis Bizarro is from Bizarro World.

I always thought the main guy would be Lex. However, there will be other antagonists.... what if the Engineer (pre nano tech) works for Lex? in his labs... develops the tech there with or washout his help but Lex believes he owns it and wants to use against Supes.
I'm hoping Ultraman is a misdirect. Because it would be so much better if it was just Bizarro. If Gunn outright says "it's not Ultraman" it might indirectly confirm Bizarro or something. Personally i'm hoping the entire thing is just a rumor. Because it feels very Nuclear Man/ BvS Doomsday. I'm sick to death of "evil Superman" stories. Even if he fights the real Superman.
I think Gunn needed to debunk the Middle East rumour because it would leave a stink over the production. As for the rest of the statements from the scoopers, some will be accurate just because if you throw enough out there, some will hit the mark, so Gunn's better to leave alone, aside from the occasional vague comment to head-off people developing expectations that won't be met.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: while I have full confidence I'm gonna love the suit regardless, having the crest on the cape is a bad look. Very Flag in my lawn if you know what I mean. Lex Luther will definitely be the main villian. He just won't be the only villian. Lex making a clone to take down Superman is not farfetched. He has done it in the comics and cartoons. Just look at Batman Vs. Superman, Batman chose not to kill Superman. So what did Lex do, he turned Zods dead body and turned him into Doomsday so Superman would be taken down. Also, Lex was the main villian in Batman Vs. Superman.

I don't force people to watch these videos man. Lots of people like speculating about films, reading into rumours, putting ambiguous pieces of the puzzle together to get an exciting-slightly better look at the picture, all without ruining the entire plot itself. Different strokes for different folkes, in terms of if you don't want to know remotely anything about anything. If that's not for you, then idk what you're doing here. And to answer your other question, If it was my work then I would be excited that there are groups of fans tinkering around to know 'this or that' about the movie, even if it were 'plot rumours/leaks'. I don't scoop this stuff myself, so by the time I talk about it - it's already out there. So I then decide to talk about info that's already out there with spoiler warnings :)

He said in his response that Lex Luthor is the main villain, correcting the information/reports that were going around out there that 'Ultraman is the main villain', which would never have been the case since Luthor would have created him thus making Luthor, the big bad. There's nothing in Gunn's response stating 'Hey guys, there is no Ultraman/There is no clone/There is no dark/alternate Superman'. When you just look at it plainly, all it did was just correct the 'main villain status' per se about the movie. I think if there was a clone, they could adapt bizzaro to be a clone but has unstable DNA which would explain his look and abilities being different and lex uses human DNA (his own) in order to stabilise it, setting up superboy... just a thought😅

Hey Boba - love your vidoes, keep up the good work! With regards to this latest on Supes, i never believed (or wanted to believe) this evil supes as the main villain story. I always thought the main guy would be Lex. However, there will be other antagonists.... what if the Engineer (pre nano tech) works for Lex? in his labs... develops the tech there with or washout his help but Lex believes he owns it and wants to use against Supes.

Personally i'm hoping the entire thing is just a rumor. Because it feels very Nuclear Man/ BvS Doomsday. I'm sick to death of "evil Superman" stories. Even if he fights the real Superman.
I think Gunn needed to debunk the Middle East rumour because it would leave a stink over the production. As for the rest of the statements from the scoopers, some will be accurate just because if you throw enough out there, some will hit the mark, so Gunn's better to leave alone, aside from the occasional vague comment to head-off people developing expectations that won't be met.
Ultraman, though? A clone would make more sense if it were Bizzaro or Conner Kent. I don't see Gunn going straight to a version of Ultraman with movie 1.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: while I have full confidence I'm gonna love the suit regardless, having the crest on the cape is a bad look. Very Flag in my lawn if you know what I mean. We already know he's Superman, his cape doesn't need to tell us too. Also, who's that crest for? His dry cleaner? Is it like his name stitched into clothing? I'm just not a fan but again, I'm confident I'll be happy with anything Gunn shows us

Lex Luther will definitely be the main villian. He just won't be the only villian. Lex making a clone to take down Superman is not farfetched. He has done it in the comics and cartoons. Just look at Batman Vs. Superman, Batman chose not to kill Superman. So what did Lex do, he turned Zods dead body and turned him into Doomsday so Superman would be taken down. Also, Lex was the main villian in Batman Vs. Superman.

I don't force people to watch these videos man. Lots of people like speculating about films, reading into rumours, putting ambiguous pieces of the puzzle together to get an exciting-slightly better look at the picture, all without ruining the entire plot itself. Different strokes for different folkes, in terms of if you don't want to know remotely anything about anything. If that's not for you, then idk what you're doing here. And to answer your other question, If it was my work then I would be excited that there are groups of fans tinkering around to know 'this or that' about the movie, even if it were 'plot rumours/leaks'. I don't scoop this stuff myself, so by the time I talk about it - it's already out there. So I then decide to talk about info that's already out there with spoiler warnings :)

I know you’re extremely gung ho on this Ultraman vs superman, Lex Luthor theory. but I have to admit it’s not a great way to start out this universe/Superman’s storyline. they want to start with a solid foundation and that’s just too cliché at this point to work. I would just take what James Gunn is saying, literally and figuratively and know that it’s completely debunked. Lex Luthor will be the main villain of the Superman movie and he MAY do something like a Superman clone but that doesn’t mean that that clown won’t get taken out very easily, thus having the movie be truly about Lex Luthor vs Superman.

He said in his response that Lex Luthor is the main villain, correcting the information/reports that were going around out there that 'Ultraman is the main villain', which would never have been the case since Luthor would have created him thus making Luthor, the big bad. There's nothing in Gunn's response stating 'Hey guys, there is no Ultraman/There is no clone/There is no dark/alternate Superman'.
When you just look at it plainly, all it did was just correct the 'main villain status' per se about the movie. If it was a 'straight up denial' as you're saying here, Gunn could've & would've said 'There is no Ultraman/Clone of Superman in this film'.

I cover that in the video too - I don't think you're understanding what I said above, because it applies to this part too.
So, since Gunn was just addressing how 'the main villain of Superman is, shockingly, Lex Luthor' - it's like, well yeah, he is (and still would be even if there was a clone in the movie too!) and so with that said.. Even with the 'dont trust anything you didn't hear from me' - this just simply pertains to what other people were stating in those reports, in that a different character other than Luthor (in this case Ultraman) was the main villain. Which is false. But my point is, what you pointed out of his quote still doesn't deny the 'leak' of a clone in the movie.
But of course after stating more or less that 'well, Lex is the main villain guys, idk what you're hearing elsewhere that it's something other than this' he'd then say 'don't believe anything unless you see it here' because he only denied that someone other than Luthor was the main villain, so it's like 'yeah, don't believe what they're saying'.
Idk if my ramble made sense there lol - but either way, I'm not saying ***there is***, but nothing changed with that. Despite me ultimately agreeing that yeah, you can't truly believe anything unless you see it from James Gunn himself. But James Gunn has also been known to portray his words in certain ways that require reading through the lines. Bottom line, not a straight up denial is all I'm trying to say.

Oh of course it doesn't make it real. I'd never have that attitude unless there was proof of some kind. I don't trust RPK's info in general, nor any scooper. It's always to be taken with a mega grain of salt. They can get hits with major scoops, then miss entirely. I just initially cover 'leaks' with a 'hypothetically entertaining if this was true' attitude for the sake of entertainment and mentally bookmarking them so tp speak. But Gunn's response here was quite interesting to observe as all he had to say was 'there is no Superman clone' in the film.
Im confused as to why he strikes rumours down in general. I understand he wants to feel connected to the fans so he interacts with them but i feel like hes backing himself into a corner by consistently dubunking things. Some rumors can actually hurt a film and cause people not to see it. In a lot of ways the Internet has hurt the film industry in that regard
@SuperAz1981 I can understand to an extent but Gunn definitely pushes the boundaries of how much a director should be responding to fans. One here or there is OK but I feel like I see a new story come out about something he's responded to almost every other day
