try a specific indonesian cuisine erwan, try palembang food such as it's staple pempek, mie celor, celimpungan, burgo , lakso, nasi minyak and others. i promise you it so underated. Palembangnese food is indonesian hidden gem it shows diversity and will test your knowledge on food.
The guide should have shown you soto betawi, a truly jakartan cuisine, and not influenced from outside like bakmi from china and nasi padang from, of course, padang.
Went there last June and everyone would automatically think we're gonna go to Bali, but no, we're going to Jakarta. Went there expecting nothing but we left the place really loving it. The culture is indeed diverse and there are not many touristy places to visit. BUUUUUUUT, the food is really great it made me want to stay longer. We haven't tried the street food though, but we went as much to so many restaurants. They have a lot of restaurants (but please know most of their food is spicy even their fast food is spicy) and their food completes the experience.
The international media often portrays Indonesia as extremist, so the tourists keep skipping jakarta and straight went to bali. Sad news is, jakarta is like the nyc in SEA, the culture, the foods and especially the people and the traffic jam.
Bakmi is like Indonesian staple breakfast, we can eat different types of bakmi everyday haha 😝 Oh yes Pagi Sore Padang restaurant is really good choice, ahh how we missed Padang food so much 😛 Nasi campur can be eaten as breakfast too 😄
I'm half german/half indonesian living in germany and nobody here knows the cuisine of indonesia, even throughout europe only a few people know about it. If you have the chance to try it, do it! It has such a big variety and is sooo tasty!
You should go to Netherland. There are a lot of indonesian restaurants in there. They are familiar with indo food like gado-gado, nasi goreng, mie goreng, chicken soto. And ristaffel, an indo dutch cuisin.
Freakin love Indonesian food! I travel to Bali every year just for the food. So far out of all the different style of food from the different regions, I gotta say Padang is my favorite. Refill on the sambal hijau please! 🤣🤣🤣
@@shyfish0225 u must try Bakso malang (Malang Meatball) its tasty and iff u going to the city beside Malang called Surabaya u must try Rawon! (its like soup but it has black colour)
I enjoy time in Jakarta. I worked there for a few months and have visited again at least a dozen times since. Noisy, smelly, traffic jammed and polluted as all hell but amazingly vibrant and comparatively very safe, even at night. It is not a walking city though, so you’ll spend a lot of time in Taxis or the like. Consider including a siesta in your daily routine if you visit!
Honestly, there’s no legit “chinatown” in Jakarta but some areas have alot of chinese food maybe that’s why the guys that toured you around call that chinatown. To be fair, if you just go anywhere in Jakarta, you will be able to find chinese food and pork dishes. There’s no restrictions to not sell non halal food here eventhought there’s a lot of muslims. As you can see, there’s a large variety of Indonesian food and most of it are very strong flavoured mainly because of the spices. If you haven’t tried any Indonesian cruisine, you’re missing out.
Oh my Goodness Gracious!!! Your video is making me so hungry and I miss my hometown so much!!!! Thank you for presenting our cuisine in such a satisfying way possible!!!! Can't wait to go home again in 2020!!!!!!! Terima kasih Erwan. GBU 🙏
Whoaa! I am terribly amazed with the Cow Brain Curry, the cool Kopi Johny, and the Nasi Campur that tastes like Silogan ni Gian in Cebu, Ph. More for Indonesia! 💙💙
My mouth is drooling, so many spicessss♥️ AND THAT COFFEE IS SO COOOL! Want to try that too. Thank you sir Erwan for sharing your food experiences and your trip! Want to experience those too. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN TV SHOW!!! THERE’S REALLY SOMETHING WHEN YOU START TO TALK, MY ATTENTION IS ALL OVER YOU. The best! Keep safe always on your trips! Can’t wait to see more🤟🏻😊
Eating Malaysian and Indonesian food definitely made me realize how closely similar our cuisines are, even our languages i.e. "mahal" "sinta" "lambing vs. kambing"
What really grind my gears is how you eat nasi padang, you should mix it all with rice and take it with your bare hands, and thats how to exploited all the possibility source of happiness come form. If you eat it one by one without rice, it would be very salty. Just my 2 cents for my as padangnese
It's also the same with filipino food.most of our food have strong flavors because it should be with rice..but i think among southeast asia, filipino food has more similarities with indonesian food, but we just use different spices..but i see most preparations are the same.i wanna try indonesian food soon!..looks really good!
the best pork cuisine in Indonesia is saksang. The best fish cuisine in Indonesia is Ikan Woku. less than 1% of tourist have ever tried any of those two food. if you ever come to Indonesia, make sure you try those food.
Man, what I wouldn't give for a plate of nasi campur Pontianak right now. Coming from the cool (Indonesian) part of Borneo, it's a dish close to my heart (and arteries). BTW Chinatown is not the only place in Jakarta where you can find pork. We have many non-Muslim majority provinces in Indonesia and they are well represented in the capital city's food scene. North Sulawesi cuisine, for example, are known for its liberal use of chillies, pork, and exotic bushmeat like paniki (fruit bat), snake, white-tailed rat, etc.
The way they serve in Page Sore reminds me of how they serve food in kaddai (restaurants) near Jolo harbor in Sulu, southern Philippines. All the food will be served to you in small platitos and you will pay only what you eat.
Two thumbs up for you ,u don’t mind to eat At street food stall with so many dust n noise. In fact street foods always be my favourite choice. Some restaurant also good .. Padang definitely Pagi Sore or Padang Express. Bakmi Holiao also delicious n Nasi Akwang for Nasi campur is the best 👍🏻 hope to see your other next video
Hello guys, now I found my friend FoodieS here. Hi foodies I am so glad to see you here. Hi host this is a great film indeed. It is an outstanding film tho.
Indonesian food has been the most popular Asian food for decades in the Netherlands. Due to the colonization. The Dutch (of course) claim it as local food.
Knowing Erwan was in Jakarta freaks me out already. now that I know he was so close to where I live, Pademangan, really made my day!!! hope you enjoy your time when you're in Jakarta!
Oh my, this video make home sick with Indonesia 😭 in US there's Indonesian restaurant but the taste not as good as restaurant in Indonesia. I dunno why.
Hi erwan, come visit Malaysia.. there's a lot kind of food you can try here.. we have Malay foods, Indian, Chinese, and many more if you visit Sabah and Sarawak too .

"Don't worry about the calories!"
"Your tummy full, your heart blissful!"
Bully your Belly

yeah, media sucks and they can suck my dick
Media just being media :((((
Im so love Indonesian food.
Very tasty and so spicy the sambel
Especially the saty sauce yummy...
Indonesia, aside from Bali, is one of the most underrated places to visit. Thank you for sharing us their food and culture Erwan. 👍❤
So, Bali is one of the city in Indonesia.
@@coolestgangsta7164 what i meant is indonesia in general is not that popular to tourists aside their main attraction city of Bali
Bali is a Province, not a city .
Bali is an island not a city.
Okay now I'm hungry 😭 more overnight ep pleasee. The cinematography is on point its like I'm watching Netflix chef's table
