I'm glad to see Indonesia at last. People have begun using English for communication in various places. For visitors from other countries, this is incredibly beneficial. It seems as though Jakarta has begun to overtake other major ASEAN cities, like Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, where we encounter locals who do not speak English when we go shopping.
Chocolate and Cheese combination is really common in Indonesia from martabak to Fried Banana you will find chocolate and cheese as a topping, i never think it was weird until watching Non-indonesian TH-camr pointing that out😂

The same diabetic level, less trans fat, much tastier (although more expensive, but martabak should be a very rare treat, if you want to keep your feet)

Yeah, martabak is not actually a street food. It’s family-sized, and mostly you buy it to bring home and eat with your family (maybe just like pizza). Another reason you eat it at home is because it’s messy, with all the butter left over on your fingers and mouth. After watching a lot of tourist vlogs, I realized that the chocolate and cheese combo is a weird concept by Western standards, but most of them actually kind of like it after they try it. Maybe it’s just like peanut butter and jam for Americans. I’ve never tried it because it sounds weird, but maybe I will love it when I actually try it.

Went to korea last year and try their salted butter rolls (sogeum-ppang), surprisingly the one I tried in Blok M is so much better.
Blok M has a nickname, called Little Tokyo because that area there was a lot of japanese restaurant and japanese people who live in there.

Yeah, martabak is not actually a street food. It’s family-sized, and mostly you buy it to bring home and eat with your family (maybe just like pizza). Another reason you eat it at home is because it’s messy, with all the butter left over on your fingers and mouth.
After watching a lot of tourist vlogs, I realized that the chocolate and cheese combo is a weird concept by Western standards, but most of them actually kind of like it after they try it. Maybe it’s just like peanut butter and jam for Americans. I’ve never tried it because it sounds weird, but maybe I will love it when I actually try it.
i live only like 1 km away, but rarely go there. too packed for my sanity lol, especially on weekends.
