I'm glad to see Indonesia at last. People have begun using English for communication in various places. For visitors from other countries, this is incredibly beneficial. It seems as though Jakarta has begun to overtake other major ASEAN cities, like Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, where we encounter locals who do not speak English when we go shopping.
i live by myself and can only eat 1-2 slices of martabak at a time, so whenever i'm craving one it's gonna be my only dessert for the whole week it took me to finish them

All of Jakarta is a culinary center which has been "hippified" with trendy cafes and the like. Yeah you are mistaken about Blok M Square. Sometimes they have a "food festival" there with many booth tents, not pushcart street vendors who sell food for a living. It's not always packed with vendors. That's still rather busy though with usual street food fare. Also that Martabak place is not in the actual area of Blok M
The interesting thing about martabak is that you should eat it while it is hot or warm to enjoy its super soft texture. If you store it in the fridge or leave it outside, it will still be edible the next day, but it won’t be soft anymore; instead, it will become dense.
You could heat it up in microwave. Depending on the microwave, heat it up 30 seconds - 1 minute. And put a cup of water inside so they won't be so dry. Same thing with heating up rice/pizza.
For martabak manis / sweet martabak you must try the peanut and chocolate (optional cheese). Actually it goes for a family so one person could have one or two slice. No heart attack if you share.

Special martabak use expensive butter (wisman butter), tast more better than the ordinary one. mostly we eat martabak when hang out with friends/family/group....
I always choose the special, because the normal one use margarine with all the trans fat, while the special is from butter, in this case dutch butter of Wijsman brand. The same diabetic level, less trans fat, much tastier (although more expensive, but martabak should be a very rare treat, if you want to keep your feet)

OMG!!! Martabak manis is my favorite dessert. I always get special which has chocolate sprinkles, shredded cheese, chopped peanuts & sesame seeds. They are the best!

Special martabak use expensive butter (wisman butter), tast more better than the ordinary one. mostly we eat martabak when hang out with friends/family/group....

Its worst if you not sharing martabak with others. Coz its melted friendship and family.
I always choose the special, because the normal one use margarine with all the trans fat, while the special is from butter, in this case dutch butter of Wijsman brand. The same diabetic level, less trans fat, much tastier (although more expensive, but martabak should be a very rare treat, if you want to keep your feet)
Maybe change a word of world worst to best because i enjoy martabak so much. Well have fun and enjoy the food.
