I'm fine Chael, right back at you mate.
No you know what fkn Happened you made a prediction!
You cursed volk
@@tbe4211 him saying that at the beginning was just plain dumb. he is basically saying the UFC is fixed. I dont know about Chael these days!!!
What kind of derelict gives somebody $1,300 to pick fights for them?
Topuria was fighting like he was already the champion. I was truly amazed. It's one thing to exaggerate a persona for the sake of promoting a fight, but as soon as the bell rang I could tell that wasn't an act at all. Volk has been the most dominant featherweight champ in UFC history and Topuria showed absolutely no hesitation or doubt whatsoever on the biggest night of his life. Just pure, calm, composed confidence. I've been annoyed at the comparisons to Conor because a comparison to Conor nowadays is an insult, but it was exactly how Aldo vs. McGregor went down, and I had the same reaction then, just blown away by what had just happened. Topuria is special and I have a feeling he is going to be here for a while.
Wasn’t exactly the same way Aldo and Mcgregor went.. Volk was winning this fight until he got ko’d. Also Topurias a punk and he’s already ducking tough fights in the division, I guess in that respect he’s a good comparison to Conor because Conor did the same thing when it comes to that part 😂.
@@BobRoss-wm3lc Exactly, Volk was picking Ilia apart until the last combination. Hats off to Ilya but ducking everyone in the top 10 now, like really? He said no to Volk rematch, no to Holloway, Yair, Ortega, Movsar and he calls out #1 easy money fight: McGregor who is not even in his division anymore and doesn't even fight anymore. lol
@@DavidBergeron87yeah volk was winning until he wasn’t, but ilia was fighting like a champ, very patient, very calm and waited for his opening and took it. That’s championship stuff.
And I’m a devastated volk fan but you can’t deny the guy
@@DavidBergeron87keep crying simpleton lmao, you are mad nerds, ilia exposed and humiliated your little hero lmao
@@BobRoss-wm3lc He already said he would do the rematch in Spain, and its not his call if he can duck the top 5, Dana already laughed about that statement and most certainly will put him againt the best in the division, a lot of fighters talk shit after a fight. And before you assume im spaniard, im not.
Congratulations to DC for being so lucky to work for Chael on Chael’s new MMA show on ESPN.

I'm from Spain and 11 months ago before emmett's fight illia said in an interview here that he is gonna win volk. He said that he knew that he was the best in his weight class when he was 19, crazy but he did it. Another thing i noticed the fight was that during the first round illia wasn't afraid of volk's jab. Illia was learning timing and reading the volk's reactions and moves to frame that jab with that right hand over the top. Volk looked more concerned with illia's box technique and raw power. Volk won the first round because he was launching more hands but illia was learnig how to create the space to land that right hand. Illia was focus on volk's kicks, those high and low kicks. You could see how illia only responded the low kicks with his own and he was more powerful, that power made volk to hesitate. In the meantime illia was timing the counter for the volk's jab and creating the opening for that long combinations that topuria was talking about the weeks before. Illia knew that he would need that long combinations with 4 or 5 punches to cut the distance and to put volk down and he did it. Great fight volk's is in the hall of fame without a doubt he is one of the best all time but now it's time to see how far illia can go. Thank you chael is a pleasure to hear you talk about the sport always keep the good work, i learned a lot with your takes every time and I'm thankful, sorry for my english. I hope we can see an ufc's event here in my country soon, it will be a dream for the mma's fans in this country and all will be thanks because illia "the matador" Topuria....AND NEW!!!!!this is a game changer in this country i can tell you that right now, thanks
I said that the winner of Tuporia vs Mitchell would be the champion. If Mitchell could handle the striking or if Tuporia could handle the wrestling, it would tell me which one would be champion. I knew once this matchup vs Volk happened, I would bet on Ilia. Made me some $ on a few bets with Tuporia win/KO win.

We were in attendance in Anaheim and his walkout to his song was pretty electric. The crowd got behind him quickly.
Never wrong and never lost. Chael is the man.
You were correct Chael (as always). All 3 judges scored round 1 for Volk
He got knocked the F out. Thats what happened.
Please.... let Chael sum it up in 13 minutes or less. Maybe you missed something😂😂😂
Twice 😬😬
don't just say it like that. That's crass.
No he was robbed .... Off his belt
@@NotUrDJrobbed? Your volkswagon hopefully got some Brain damage. So you stfu next Time before commenting Robbery. Hope he will end worse than Ali .
A Knock-out like this CAN NEVERRR BE A ROBBERYY BECAUSE VOLK WAS OUT *FOR MINUTES*
After the first round, most people said it was super close and you could even give Volk the first round. That may be true, but I saw something completely different. Ilia got more and more into the fight. I also said during the break that if this continues, Volk will be knocked out in the second round. And so it was. Volk wasn't caught off guard either, but was very well prepared by Ilia
Was there. Ilia’s walkout was tremendous. Maybe one of the best I’ve seen.
I dont think walkout does shit but seeing that it changed something for me
@@dkurt2725same. Right when I heard that epic Spanish guitar I got worried for Volk.
I dont know if you guys noticed but he was saying "yo lo soñé, yo lo soñé" which means 'I dreamt it, I dreamt it'
Volk employed the strategy i assumed he would use, which was mobility and peppering leg kicks and jabs. I picked him to win by decision, because i thought Illia was a little too slow to contend with him and a movement based gameplan. But boy was i wrong. What really impressed me was the way Illia controlled the centre. He owned the centre, forcing volk to move in a wide circle, but at the same time it allowed Topuria to minimize volks lateral speed advantage. 3 steps on the outside for volk was equal to steps on the inside for Topuria. By employing that tight, controlled power punching strategy, it really made volk pay every now and then when he tried stepping in with a sharp jab. Personally, i gave illia the first round. I was worried for Volk after those first 5 minutes, he just didn't seem to have Topurias respect for the shots he was slinging, and he just got walked down till Illia got him in a spot with nowhere to go
Exactly I felt illia seemed more comfortable in the first round and volk was winning the second round until the knockout
This man is SO FULL OF SHIT! Fighters know who is going to win, maybe in his pro wrestling make up acting can't bust a grape in a fruit fight style.
Excellent comment, Sir. I thought the same thing about that round and you've explained it perfectly.
Many words little meaning 😂 another casual trying to be a mma expert 😂
I ain't reading that
I feel like Volk moving up and back twice in the last yr chasing to titles then losing to Topuira(not discrediting him in ANYWAY) seems almost dejavu to Roy Jones Jr right after he moved up to heavyweight, beat John Ruiz then go back to LH and loose to Antonio Tarver. Volk has been a GREAT champion
@jennymelo2098why was nobody saying this when he went back down and beat Yair ??
Shouldn't you know how to spell losing by now?
Volkanovski landed more volume in the first but Topuria landed the harder and more significant strikes. If you give the round to Volk fine but it was a close round and obvious to me that Topuria was the more dangerous fightrr in there. He will be the favorite in a rematch and rightfully should be
Volk wasn’t hurt in the first round and outlanded him so he def won round 1, was also winning round 2 until Topuria landed that bomb that put him out. Agree Topuria will be the fav in the rematch. Volk better come in with a different game plan and look to make it a dirty grinding hell fight and don’t worry about boos.
Yea. Volk was trying to not get KO for 25 minutes while Topuria had 25 minutes to KO Volk. Thats how i saw the fight
Picked wrong once again! Gotta love it
Volk spoke it into existence himself at the prefight press conference when he said illia was 15-0
He literally said this MONTHS ago on one of the top Spanish podcasts before he even fought Josh
A year ago specifically!
You failed on your prediction, that is what happened.
Then ignores it and tells us what happened 🤣
You still going to Chael for predictions?
@@Scotland2306would you like him to apologize? Lol
Whole mma world looking for your reaction about ufc 300 uncle chael
came to his channel looking for it lmao
Scorecard 😂 what are you watching ? Volk has bad defensive habits backing up with his chin in the there. Ilia was walking him down looking for a combination. Knowing if he threw 3-4 punches he would land big
Ilia was too fast for Volk
This was a great breakdown of what happened. What impressed me was how committed he was in throwing that combination. If that had missed he would had put himself way out of position. He was either feeling desperate or very confident that one of those punches would land. Volk was right, the only way Ilia could win was with a one punch knockout.
It is always impressive how well spoken Chael is, he articulates properly each detail and idea. Also, at x1.25 he sounds like a MMA Ben shapiro 😂
Thank you for bestowing this knowledge upon us, because it’s so true😭😭
Listen to all videos at x2 if you wanna grow that brain son

Taporia is the prototype of a MMA fighter, imhonaf. The only knock i had against him him going into this fight was "he's young & not as experienced as Volk", but that proved to not be an issue. I see a long title reign for the kid.
It seemed like volk thought he was winning walking backwards and he walked into the right. Ilia was determined to walk him into the right and ilia won
I don't know why people say that volka did look good., he started all nervous and scared... He believed that he was gonna get finished on the 1st round, that was the strategy, but wow topuria was very compose and he looked very experienced,, the 1st time topuria really attacked he destroyed volk. Eazy fight for topuria..🎉
Volk tried really hard to look relaxed and having fun but he looked very nervous fighting. He was ducking at every faint Tuporia throw.
None of Volks punches seem to faze Tuporia. Volk new he was in trouble and in the rematch he'll probably get ko'd again 🤷🏾♂️
Yep, all those leg kicks spoke to his apprehension too. Kinda like Izzy with Sean, just went backwards almost the entire time.
Because he was up against a power that he's never faced before. It's the same when you fight a high level grappler. You jump at every feint of a take down
@@pithius2191Volk was kicking with the wrong leg, idk why his team told him to do that
volk was landing good jabs before the ko
I believe max and yair will do much better than volk against ilia
Topuria was closing the gaps like a Matador, while Volk was looking for the gaps....Topuria knew it will find the moment...I am sure Vold knew it as well...the KO against Makhachev paid the toll...like happened to many undefeated champions so many times....Credit to Topuria he shut the lights of Volk and shut down so many voices
Thank Chael for pointing out the Grecko-Roman wrestling. People don't know but Illa has a seriously good takedown game
Topuria improved a lot since his last fights. I was worried that topuria might over- commit on some of his hooks and miss as he did in his previous fights which will give volk an opportunity to take him down or do a counter but he was much more precise this time.
Fighters absolutely try to get into their opponents head what are you saying? Bisping talked about in depth how sometimes the fight can be won before even stepping into the cage by getting into your opponents head. They do it all the time during their stare downs. Conor perfected that with his opponents. It absolutely is a real thing.
Honestly, for as great as Chael is, he contradicts himself all the time, and says a lot of silly things that are incorrect / giant assumptions
Volk is the only guy I actually believe when he said “I was just about to start taking over until he caught me” lol. But that’s the game he plays, so all props to Topuria!!! What a performance
Same when he said that I felt like I got his strat. He was starting with kicks and jab to really mix it up. Still think he should of got some respect right off the back with his hands. Fighting off back foot isn't how he got there
@@MVRosie I agree. I think he’s so used to these 25 minute fights and thinking about the 5 rounds, to the point he’s not quite 100% present in the moment, and usually he can get wobbled and snap back into it and recover but someone finally pressed the off button! All it takes is a one second lapse in focus
@@markymark2200 I mean I do believe he had some fear of getting hit like most do after a bad ko. But then again Whitaker bounced back great after DDP so hopefully Volk can to. I'm not ready for him to be done yet
@@MVRosieWhittaker didn’t get knocked out by ddp, he gave up, but he did get ko’d by Izzy the first time

The only fight breakdown that matters
Absolutely. Even if it’s all rubbish. Undisputed.
Congratulations on the new show uncle chael........
Let’s be honest Ilia is good enough, young enough and tough enough, Volk is older, coming off a KO 3-4 months ago and surgery before that. Those were the narratives going into the fight and that is what we saw play out in the fight. History tells us Ilia would win a rematch. I feel for Volk but he’s on a pretty serious slide at this point, 1-3
Looking forward to Good guy/Bad guy! Chael and D 🤣
There is only one rule that stands - Uncle Chael picks wrong ones :)))) I love this channel and the energy Chael brings - much respect!)))
8:20 from a guy who called this the “Safest bet I’ve ever seen” and implied ilia won’t beat volk with his hands, this new take seems rather convenient no?
@Chael Sonnen , Could you please give your in depth breakdown of Movsar Evloev responding to Ilia saying “Movsar only has decisions “ by saying : “ I’ll finish you (Ilya) by decision “
Is this a smart move ? Seems like quite a good way of making Ilya callout into something Evloev can use as promotion , e.g “ I (Evloev) will make sure to win by decision because I want to make the opponent (Ilya ) hold out hope till the last second “
Volk did win the first round on all three judges' card, but it really means nothing at the end of the day. That said, I want to see Topuria and Holloway next, because that's going to be a war!
I doubt he survives Justin Gaethje
@Alex-uz7wd I think he will honestly, but will be a war as well.
We Know What Happened!!!!🤦
Stone Cold Steve Austin Said "Somebody Just Got Their Azz Whooped"
That's exactly what was happening until topuria saved himself with the strike combo.
@@marsbrown4834topuria Was using better low kicks and was hunting volk down. U guys are delusional
I was about to back out of my topuria pick, thanks chael
Uncle Chael, I agree with your commentary 100%!👍Additionally, I remember Volkanovski saying in one of his interviews before the fight, "The only way he would see himself losing would be if he got caught." And that's exactly what happened. Volk knew the only way he would lose to anyone was if he got caught in the stand up/exchange.
If Volkanovski gets an immediate rematch against Topuria, I think it would be too soon for Volkanovski to get back in the octagon against Topuria. Especially since Volkanovski is coming off of two back-to-back losses and KO's.
I understand Volkanovski wants to run it back against Topuria. However, Volkanovski needs to take a break. I know "father time" is creeping up on Volkanovski's MMA career. But Volkanovski really needs to take his time to let his body and brain heal. Volkanovski should do a tune-up fight to get his confidence back up as well. Before he gets back in the octagon against Topuria.
Subconsciously, I always think of this. But hearing you put it into words, "talking to convince themselves, not the other fighter." This is why I watch this channel. Really helps grow MMA IQ. 🧠
I completely agree with your assessment of both fighters’ mindsets and performances, good to know you saw what I saw
Looking forward to Chael and DC's new association! Should be interesting.
Also can't wait to get uncle Chael's take on ufc 300 main event announcement by Dana!!!
Seeing Zuckerberg’s face during the TKO was worth the PPV alone 😂
Besides all the skill set he has, Topuria's best weapon is his confidence. But not in a way he's disrespecting his opponents. When he talks about any VS, he's always based in how he feels about himself and the current rival stats. And you can say, well he does it to hype himself up and that's all. But when you see that his thoughts come to reality it's like yeah, I trust this guy. If he says he'll win I take it as an unquestionable truth. Once he said he could win for sure against prime McGregor (in one round!). And if you just show me both fighter's highlights I would say well I'm not sure. But when you hear him saying it... Man it's like you believe every word. Every thought is based on his training and proved in every fight. That's why Topuria is the real deal and why he'll rule the MMA sport. And Chael's right, we haven't seen nothing yet.
4:39 also, Topuria was losing this fight until that ko happened. He lost round 1 and was losing round 2 also.
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
@@MT-eo6tq it does help me sleep because it’s the truth lol. Go check the scorecards. Volk outstruck him both rounds until the finish.

@@MT-eo6tq that might be the fakest amount of laughter I’ve ever seen 🤣. You can cope with the fact that you’re a Topuria nut hugger.
If I’m in Volks corner I’m concerned after the first round. It was too obvious what Ilia was doing from a game plan standpoint. I expected Volk’s coaches to see that too, because Ilia was walking him down, controlling the center, cutting off angles, and pinning him against the cage the entire time. It just so happened that in round 2 his fist found Volk’s chin. Volk was never in control for a second of this fight.
That was the best take I've heard on the loss. Tuporia's face when he won is evidence of which you speak.
His post fight speech was one for the ages. Merab also called it after his win.
The Chael Curse remains undefeated.
@chaelsonnenoffical 2 fights come to mind that I feel that you are wrong about getting into their opponents heads. Mac vs Aldo, Mac vs khabib, now I think Mac got into both opponents heads but had 2 completely different outcomes. I’m sure if I thought about it I could think of more but I’m surprised you don’t believe you can get into opponents head
Been waiting for Chael's take. I wasn't disappointed.
Chael the ending was spectacular you sounded like a movie trailer intro 😂😂👏🏻👏🏻 I definitely think you should do movie trailer audios 😁
What an awful and still unprepared analysis..the reason volk didn't take him down is because he knows Ilia is ALSO better on the floor
Awful take maybe he meant to say he know ilia is solid on the ground too
Thats a lot of words for saying "I was wrong"; "Topuria is a beast"
I have seen comments praising Topuria , he pick the center and it was defensive, he waits for Volk to make mistakes and Volk was just jabbing and kicking well and it got caught but Topuria didn’t dominate , he is good strategist but I appreciate Volk because he takes initiative to attack, definitely rematch and minimum 6 months to recover , also remember that do you believe Topuria can beat Makachev?
Biggest arms most charm still the best to ever do it
I disagree. He didn’t convince himself, he believed in himself. Unapologetically. And it paid off
Volk needs to do what Izzy is supposedly doing/going to do , which is : take time off, rest , and reevaluate. Taking a year off and then training for 6 months after that can only help him.
if i recall correctly according to the bad guy theres literally no chance whatsoever for ilia to win .
@alypha737
And Chael was Exactly Right!
Ilia had No Chance to Win...
But Volk had Every Chance to lose...
And he did.
@@JOHN-zl5kw That's actually a great way to sum it up
@shparto1118
Thanks. I hope I made Chael Proud
What this people don't seem to know is that Ilia would of smoked him in wrestling and grappling to. Ilia has elite grappling, he just chooses to box because he is so good at it. There is no one in that division that has better grappling than him
Hey buddy. What's happening with the South Africa fight with DDP. Love to hear ur thoughts
Uncle Chael, what frames are those?
On point Chael , great analysis mate
Volk just didn't seem to have the same conviction he normally has in there. Plus he was immediately getting walked down by Ilia. That wasn't the same Volk that fought Islam the first time, or Yair or Max, this was a different kind of fight from Volk right from the start. It certainly seems like it could spell the beginning of the end now, that's 2 KO losses in a row. Not good.
Did not see the same thing I did! I saw Volk not stand toe to toe with Ilia enough with some fast jabs, then change levels and try for a take down. He did not train enough for Ilia. He has plenty enough film on him to watch his process. Instead of this Volk decided to move away and get caught as Ilia just hit him. Compare Volk's training compared to The reapers. Way taotally different. He should not get the rematch! I think Holloway is next up!
Sonnen came through with another prediction. My man is undefeated.
Thanks Uncle Chael. When you said "Volkanovski will win" we all knew that it was a signal to bet on Topuria.
Same with DDP Whitaker. You never let us down
Chael Sonnen, you absolutely rock!
1:15-video starts
Chael who u got moreno or roysl2
So nice of your sister to lend you her glasses, Chael.
The main takeaway from that fight is that hard work + confidence can bring you to the top, Ilia just proved it with the victory
Topuria didnt let Volk know that he needed the take down. If a rematch Volk better look to grapple early, get Topuria shoulders to burn a bit, take a lil sting off his punches.
Uncle chael undefeated as always
Power is what happened. God given. This is rough for Volk two bad kos in a row. I'd like to see him not fight for a year. If Volk fights him again it's got to be pure speed pure movement like he used to be so it's a question of can he do that. You have to respect power like that. I suspected Ilia had it but I wasn't sure. I am now. He's a guy you cannot get caught by.
I genuinely believe that I saw Toupria test the waters and allowed volk to touch him up to feel out the range he felt and moved forward the entire fight to set up that shot. Dude is dangerous
Everyone was so busy mad at Ilia for the show that he put on and thought he verlooked our beloved Volk. He played mind games and was successful. For all we know, him not showing Volk respect may have influenced Volks performance He was brave enough to do something different when the rest of Volk opponents showed him respect and of course you fanboys slob on Volk. I love Volk by the way but alot of you hate so much that you ignored Ilias abilities. ALso nobody underestimated Volk like some of you kept saying. We all know exactly how dangerous and Great Volk is. I wish fans weren't so biased so they can be more logical
Great analysis Chanel, thank you

Great great stuff Unk
You are a legend. When you fought you were a problem for anyone. I am no one to contradict someone who knows much more about fighting than the vast majority of the world's population, but from my ignorance and humility I believe that those who think that Volk would beat Topuriab in the fight are wrong.
Greetings champion
Somebody gave Chael a compliment on those sun glasses, haven't took them off since. 😂
I said 37 times. Ilia Topuria is the only UFC fighter who throws 3 & 4 punch combos. That 3rd and 4th are unexpected and unseen. Alex didn’t see that 4th to the chin. Habitually ufc fighters aren’t typically practicing w 4 punch combo throwers.
Did you say 70% (then cut to a video that says 63.1%)?
Our boy Volk left his chin in Islams trophy room 😅
What a great feat by Johs Emmet enduring 3 rounds of exchange with Topuria, that guy is a real zombie
Lets start realizing all the old guys are ready to hand it over. Those bodies can only mature so much before they get old. Dana has always said the window is very small. Even Whitaker had a nice win, but that fight took a lot out of him.I give Toporia all the props by beating Volk. I was cheering for Volk. I Hated him when he fought Max and got the decisions. But Max was every bit as tough as Toporia. We all want to see Conor, but lets face it that ship has sailed. Keep talking them up for us though Chael, I love this stuff and still need to cheer for the guys I started out hating!
Prime Volk was between the 3rd Holloway fight and the Rodriguez fight. I think its over for him. What a shame
@7:04 Commentary was super dry, bring DC back… literally almost no energy or awareness when Ilia got the KO smh & made it mostly about Volk
The power on that punch was impressive but the accuracy was even more
Fantastic storytelling! :D
These are the videos that make me love listening to Chael
After how long the fans have waited for this main event. Imo it's understandable people feeling a little let down by this fight.
Big difference for me is that Volk was looking for the gap and Ilia was creating it the whole fight. Btw in the ground Ilia is even better than standing up.
Honestly dont see Ilea beating Max still.just the styles wise, Straight boxer vs boxer matchup and Max got a chin with that cardio and crazy reach
But what if ilia mix in his grappling? If he gets max on the ground he might submit him and yeah max has good tdd but we haven’t really seen max submission defense on the ground.
@@colostrum590 you cant talk about submission defense when you can’t even get him on the ground lol, Ilia tends to shell up a lot, fighters that shell up in a traditional boxing stance get eaten up by max, like Kattar/Allen
